Rook and Co interrupt a ritual. It goes about as well as you'd expect.
9:54 Dragon: Archon Dorian Pavus gets word of a Venatori ritual in Arlathan Forest. Eager to stamp out the rest of the Venatori cult lurking on his doorstep, Dorian sends Rook and their companions to stop the ritual and kill the venatori. The ritual instead goes awry, separating Rook from their companions, and sending them back twelve years into the past. Stuck with no clear way back to their own time, Rook tries to lay low, and immediately fails. They become entangled with the Inquisition as they attempt to return to their own time, and to stop themself from being revealed to certain ancient elven gods in disguise along the way.

Having regained his freedom and with a new contract to fulfull, Lucanis tries his best to focus on the task at hand. His mind preoccupied with the battles ahead, he almost doesn't notice when he starts to develop feelings towards his rescuer - a fellow Crow named Rook.
I found the romance plotline in the game to be lacking, so this is my attempt to fill those gaps a little. I included a bit of the existing in-game dialogue, but most of the work is new scenes. They/them pronouns for Rook.

Summary
An orphan will set a home on fire just to seek its warmth, or they will save the world to try and keep the family they were making. Leadership takes a heavy toll on one who was not prepared for it. From the cradle of the grave, a loneliness beyond measure takes hold in one’s heart.
Thedas is saved, the Veil is still up, and the moon no longer bleeds. But Rook finds themselves unable to contain the grief that they kept bottled up for the entire adventure. No one on the team has talked to them, and it seems like they are all to start going their separate ways. It’s not until Rook finally breaks down that the team realizes no one has actually been there for Rook except for Emmrich.
Feelings between teammates bloom and the Veilguard realize exactly how dense they were about Rook’s feelings about all of them. But first they must figure out how to bring Rook back from their lonely and agonizing grief. Maybe a tradition from their Nevarran home might be just the thing.
