Summary
AU post-game, Rook and the Veilguard are offered a demon as tribute by one of the pockets of Venatori in Thedas. Spite, the demon, has secrets that he's not willing to share, and Rook is torn between figuring them out and helping his team prepare for the end of the world.
“It is what it is.”
“No!” Rook slammed his fist on the table. “Mar-merevas! It doesn’t have to be! It is only what it is if you let it!” He fixed them with a glare. “And I am not going to let it."Series

Summary
Rook had lived a peaceful, relatively secluded life in the Grand Necropolis. It had been that way for years, long enough that she thought she'd finally found her purpose. But good things never last, do they? Somewhere along a series of never-ending missteps, she found herself in charge of a team tasked with taking down two escaped elven gods.
For someone who claimed to not believe in fate, there were entirely too many things that had to go wrong in order to bring her face-to-face with the man who would end up changing her life. With the help of Lucanis and the spirit possessing him, the mysteries of her past start fitting together. But sometimes remembering hurts worse than the unanswered questions ever did.

AKA I created a head-canon for this Rook that consumed my thoughts, so I started writing it out, and then it kept changing and evolving, eventually turning into a novel length fic. Follows a handful of key in-game events, but focuses on lots of additional "in-between" interactions that better develop the relationship between Rook and Lucanis. (Expect slight canon divergences) -

Atash Laidir - better known as 'Rook' - is the very picture of a tough, boisterous Qunari Lord of Fortune. She is not fazed by bloodthirsty mage cultists, demonic possessions or ancient elven gods.
She is, however, quite thoroughly fazed at the prospect of going out to dinner with a certain necromancer.

Working through some major plot points of the game, Rook and Lucanis' relationship develops. The burn is still slow but the relationship starts up much earlier. Some extra scenes, extra kisses, a little bit of extra angst.

“When’s the ball?” Rook asks with a sigh. Lucanis’s smile tells her he took the question as an agreement.
“One week from today,” he says. That leaves seven days for him to teach her how to act like a Crow. Seven days for her to strengthen his resistance to blood magic. Seven days to get a grip on her emotions and not let slip the one secret she holds closest to her heart.

Illario's throwing a masquerade ball to crown himself First Talon, so Lucanis and Rook do the only logical thing: sneak in as a Crow couple to save Caterina. It's a fool-proof plan with only three issues: Rook's not a Crow, Lucanis is susceptible to Illario's control, and they're not a couple.

Rook was mistreated by the Crows when they were young by the hands of the Dellamorte family. Several years later, they were the one to save Lucanis from his prison.

Summary
Rook has never found herself truly attracted to anyone. She can't help but be drawn to the renowned Professor Emmrich Volkarin, whose skill and charm leave her starstruck, and makes them fast friends. As their relationship develops Rook accepts her feelings towards the Professor are anything but platonic. The realisation sends her unfamiliar emotions careening, from joy to heartbreak and back again through misunderstandings and battle scars. She barely recognises herself in her intense feelings for Emmrich. Manfred tries to help with tea.
Eventually they go together into uncharted waters, the path ahead just as tricky as the one behind them, but much more enjoyable with company and sated desires.

“ Lucanis breaks off the kiss, summoning the courage to voice the question that has been sitting on the back of his tongue. ‘Are we doing this?’ he asks, breath hitching in his throat. ”
This one-shot is my take on what happens in between the events leading up to, and including, Lucanis' first time with my Rook (Holly Ingellvar).

Summary
Lucanis didn’t know what would be worse. Rook thinking he was the type of person to go to a brothel or that he refused to sleep with anyone there because he didn’t see the appeal of such a place. Either way he didn’t want to be in this conversation anymore.
Illario says a little too much to Rook and Lucanis thinks he could use that to push her away, at least until he learns she feels the same way as he does.
