Chapter Text

“A squirrel, a Kaiju or a man, all life is worth saving”- Superman.

The front page of The Daily Planet featured yet another exclusive interview of Superman's, taken by his ever favorite reporter, apparently, Clark Kent.

The newsroom was buzzing in whispers as Clark turned into work, the day's edition of The Daily planet clutched against his chest, shifty eyed, very aware of the hostile and dramatic whispers in the air.

“You really don't get headlines, do you Kent? That's NOT what a headline should look like, THIS looks like it belongs in the tabloids.” Clark was, for the first time in his life, grateful for Steven's lack of ability in reading the room as he tapped his own copy aggressively, giving useless pointers even as the whole room was abuzz with side-eyes and snide comments.

“And guess who's the one whose story is on the front page yet again, and who hasn't gotten a scoop in like 25 years?” Cat chimed in, in Clark's defense earning the sheepish smile he could rarely hide when it came to compliments.

“Another exclusive, huh Clark?” Another reporter asked, her voice clearly unable to contain her curiosity.

“Yeah, uhh caught him just in time. Haha had to really beg him for this one.” Clark rubbed his neck nervously as he replied.

“Yeah, in bed I'm sure.” Clark could hear snickers and the whispers gathering in the newsroom. He cluelessly looked out for Lois, some sort of explanation was seriously overdue.

Lois returned the eye contact with wide eyes and raised brows, her lips pressed into a thin line.

Uh oh … that only means trouble

Later Clark was even called in by Perry, congratulating him for the back to back interviews, but his brows slightly furrowed as he sat back down in his seat after he thought Clark was out of his sight.

“You really… REALLY need to stop giving yourself these interviews Clark. I told you it would be an issue. People notice things, patterns.. recurring interviews…” Lois later cornered Clark in the break room and filled him in on the “drama” as she called it.

“OFCOURSE people would think you and superman have some … something going on if he's ONLY gonna keep giving you interviews.”

“Something?? Like what? And what was that bit about me having to beg in his bed? Superman wouldn't inconvenience people like that, I mean he wouldn't make anybody beg in the FIRST place…”

“Oh my God are you dense? They mean superman is.. he has an “arrangement” with you, you get exclusives and he.. uhh gets to tear that ass up, you get me now? Clark?” Lois put her hand on Clark's back as she made her ex understand that there are rumors of him being the fuck buddy of his own Superhero identity.

“This is… so…. fuc-”
