Chapter Text
In Room 3C of the Roan Academy dormitory building, an unofficial war had been waged since the first day of the semester.
It was not a loud war.
There was no flying pillows nor any yelling matches.
Instead, it was a cold biting silence sharpened by pointed remarks and passive-aggressive notes left on the communal fridge.
It was the type of conflict that began with mismatched toothbrush holders and escalated into competing alarm clocks at 6 a.m. sharp.
Cale Henituse, son one of the board, infamous for his flaming red hair and effortless grades, was the type who liked things just messy enough to look lived-in.
Choi Han, the top of the class, student council favorite, and captain of the fencing team, lived as if he were a monk preparing for ascension.
Unfortunately, the two shared four walls, one bathroom, and a deeply rooted dislike for each other.
“I thought rich kids had personal butlers,” Choi Han muttered once, watching Cale dump his blazer on the back of their shared armchair for the third day in a row.
“And I thought honor students had better manners,” Cale shot back without missing a beat, flipping a page of his book with a lazy flick.
It was always like this.
Petty remarks disguised as civil conversation and tension so thick it made their RA nervous.
Rumor had it the headmaster personally assigned them as roommates to "foster character development."
If so, the only thing being fostered was mutual pettiness.
And yet, despite everything, they tolerated each other.
Perhaps because neither wanted to give the school gossip mill the satisfaction of a dorm transfer.
Perhaps because, secretly, they both liked the challenge.
That was, until Cale Henituse caught a cold.
And then everything changed.
