Summary
When Kyle and his fellow soldiers finally return to headquarters within the city walls, his lieutenant, a Half-Elf named Darrin Deepwood, approaches him in the armoury with a firm clap on his shoulder and his helmet tucked casually under his other arm.
“You need a woman, Sergeant,” he announces, only half-joking. “Nothing better than havin’ a woman after a battle well fought.”
And Kyle can merely laugh out of respect and politeness towards his leader, still amid taking off his heavy armour, even though the thought alone makes his stomach coil and cringe internally.
“Aye, I’ll think about it, sir,” he replies as he puts his breastplate on the table where his claymore is resting out of its sheath, coagulating blood dripping and slowly staining the wood.
