Cherry Blossoms

Summary:

Jinsol has been planning something special for weeks.

Work Text:

The morning sun gently slipped through the sheer curtains of their Seoul apartment, spreading a warm light over the wooden floor. Yoona stretched comfortably in bed, her hand automatically moving to the spot beside her, only to find it empty and still warm. A soft humming from the kitchen, mixed with the quiet sound of dishes being moved.

She smiled sleepily as she wandered into the kitchen.

There was Jinsol, dancing as she prepared breakfast, her hair catching the sunlight streaming through the windows.

Even after six years together, this sight still made Yoona's heart flutter.

"Morning, baby," Jinsol said without turning around, she always knowing when Yoona was watching her. "I made your favorite kimchi stew and rice."

Yoona walked closer, wrapping her arms around Jinsol's waist from behind and nuzzling into her neck. Jinsol was tall enough that Yoona could rest her chin on her shoulder comfortably.

"You're up early.” Yoona murmured sleepily.

Jinsol leaned back into the embrace. "I’m excited about today."

"Today?" Yoona frowned slightly. "What's today?"

Jinsol turned in her arms, grinning widely. "Our six-year anniversary, baby."

Yoona's eyes widened in panic. "Oh… Sol, I'm so sorry, I've been so busy with work and—"

"Hey, hey," Jinsol cupped Yoona's face gently, stroking her cheekbones. "It's okay. I know you've been stressed with the new project. That's why I planned something special for us."

But Yoona's lower lip was already starting to quiver. Jinsol caught on right away.

"No pouting," Jinsol said softly, pressing a kiss to Yoona's lips. "I'm serious. I love you. I love how hard you work. Missing one date doesn't change six years of you being the most wonderful girlfriend in the world."

Yoona's pout only got more deepened. "But I wanted to do something special for you too."

"You can make it up to me," Jinsol said with a smile. "Just by being my beautiful, amazing girlfriend and letting me spoil you today."

"You always spoil me."

"You deserve it," Jinsol pecked her lips quickly. "Now go get ready. Make sure you wear something comfy for walking."

About an hour later, they were walking through Yeouido Park, their hands intertwined as they walked beneath the cherry blossom trees. Petals drifted down around them like snow, creating a romantic scene.

"Remember our first date here?" Jinsol asked, swinging their joined hands.

"You mean when you got us lost trying to find that famous chicken place?" Yoona giggled, nudging Jinsol’s shoulder with hers.

"Hey, we found it eventually! The detour was worth it," Jinsol’s eyes lit up with the memory. "You looked stunning in that blue dress, sitting by the fountain eating chicken with your fingers."

"I thought you'd think I was unladylike."

"I thought you were perfect," Jinsol said softly. "Still do."

The sincerity in her voice made Yoona's cheeks turn a lovely pink. Even after all this time together, Jinsol could still make her feel like a teenager with her first crush. "You're being incredibly sweet today."

"You bring out the romantic in me." Jinsol said with a small shrug, pulling Yoona a little closer.

They kept walking, talking about everything and nothing. They shared food from street vendors and snapped silly photos with the cherry blossoms. Yoona felt lighter than she had in weeks, the stress of work melting away under Jinsol's warm attention.

As the sun began to set, Jinsol led them to a small bubble tea shop tucked away in a quiet corner.

"How did you find this place?" Yoona asked, sliding into the booth opposite Jinsol.

"I have my ways," Jinsol winked. "Order whatever you want. Tonight's about celebrating us."

Over dinner, they talked about their relationship milestones. Back home, they sat together on the couch with a bottle of wine. Naturally, Yoona snuggled up against Jinsol's side. She curled into her girlfriend's shoulder, feeling perfectly safe in that comforting embrace.

"Thank you for today," Yoona murmured, pressing a kiss to Jinsol's collarbone. "It was perfect."

"It's not over yet.” Jinsol said softly, her fingers combing through Yoona's hair.

"What else do you have planned?"

Instead of answering, Jinsol tilted Yoona's chin up, their eyes meeting in the soft lamplight.

"I love you."

The look in Jinsol's eyes was filled with so much love that Yoona felt her breath catch.

"I love you too.” She replied, her heart racing as Jinsol's hand cupped her cheek.

The kiss was soft at first, like they were teenagers stealing a moment alone. But when Yoona's hands clutched Jinsol's sweater, pulling her closer, the kiss grew deeper. Jinsol's other hand found Yoona's waist, holding her tight as their lips moved in sync.

Both were breathing heavily when they pulled apart. Yoona's cheeks bloomed with a shade of pink, a sight Jinsol couldn't help but adore.

"Come here.”

Without hesitation, Yoona shifted to straddle Jinsol's lap, her legs folding on either side of Jinsol's thighs. The position brought them to eye level and Yoona loved how Jinsol's hands immediately held her waist, drawing gentle circles over her hip bones.

"More?" She asked playfully, wrapping her arms around Jinsol's neck.

"More." Jinsol breathed, leaning in to capture her lips once more.

This time, the kiss was hungrier. Yoona's fingers tangled in Jinsol's hair as Jinsol's hands explored her back. The taste of wine lingered on their tongues as they kissed deeply.

Yoona pulled back to leave kisses along Jinsol's jaw. "You taste like strawberries."

Jinsol giggled. "It must be the wine."

"No," Yoona said, placing a gentle bite below Jinsol's ear. "You always taste like strawberries."

"You're being awfully bold tonight." Jinsol gripped Yoona’s waist a little tighter.

As their lips met again, her hands slipped under the hem of Yoona’s shirt. Yoona arched into the touch with a soft moan from her lips. Jinsol brought her hands up to cup Yoona’s face as they kissed. Her other hands roaming Yoona’s back, pulling her closer still as their kiss deepened.

When they finally had to pull apart for air, their foreheads rested against each other. Yoona’s lips were soft and a little swollen from their kissing.

"I love you.”

"I love you too." Jinsol’s thumb tracing Yoona's lower lip.

Yoona gently caught that thumb between her lips and pressed a soft kiss to it. It was all it took to make Jinsol lose control. She pulled Yoona down for another kiss. Yoona's mouth was warm, soft and sweet. Jinsol couldn’t get enough of the taste or the way her girlfriend responded to every single kiss.

"More, please?” Yoona said between their kisses.

And Jinsol gave her, capturing Yoona's lips in a series of deep kisses that left them breathless. Yoona’s hands held Jinsol’s shoulders and neck, her fingers sending shivers down Jinsol’s spine with every touch.

They lost themselves in each other. Yoona's fingers found the buttons of Jinsol's shirt, carefully undoing each one. Jinsol's breath hitched as cool air met her skin, but Yoona's warm hands quickly followed, palms spreading across her collarbone.

"Tease.” Jinsol whispered against her lips, making Yoona let out a soft laugh.

"I know you love it.” Yoona pressed kisses along Jinsol's neck.

Jinsol's hands then went to the bottom of Yoona's shirt, her fingers playing with the edge before slowly lifting it up and pulling it over her head. The soft material fell onto the floor as Jinsol's eyes took in the sight of her girlfriend.

Yoona's cheeks turned pink, but she didn't pull away. Instead, she leaned down to kiss Jinsol.

In one smooth move, Jinsol gently shifted their positions, helping Yoona to lie back against the soft cushions of the sofa. She hovered over her girlfriend for a moment, taking in the sight of Yoona's hair spread across the pillows, her lips slightly parted as she looked up at Jinsol with adoration.

"I love you."

She whispered before leaning down to kiss Yoona. Yoona's hands found Jinsol's shoulders, pressing into her skin as Jinsol's lips moved to her neck. She placed soft kisses along Yoona's throat.

Everything outside of their touch disappeared as they lost themselves in each other. They stayed like that for a while. Yoona loved the way Jinsol's hands felt on her skin, the way her girlfriend knew exactly where to kiss or touch to make her weak in the knees.

Later, they moved to the bedroom, spending the rest of the night simply holding each other.

The next morning brought a new sense of purpose to Jinsol's life. As she watched Yoona sleep peacefully beside her, she made a decision that had been building in her heart for months. It was time to take the next step.

Over the next few weeks, Jinsol poured her energy into the planning. She looked up ring designs, searched for the perfect spot, made tons of phone calls, all while carefully keeping things looking normal around Yoona.

Finding the right ring turned out to be the hardest part. Jinsol spent hours browsing different jewelry shops. She wanted something beautiful but not too flashy.

The location was easier to decide. Namsan Tower had always been special to them. It was where they became official girlfriends, where they first said "I love you," and where they watched the New Year's Day sunrise together. It only made sense that it would be where Jinsol asked Yoona to be her wife.

The hardest part was acting normal around Yoona. Jinsol had to work hard to hide her excitement and nervousness. She almost got caught out when Yoona saw her looking at wedding venues on her laptop.

"Are Haewon and Lily finally getting married?" Yoona asked, peering over Jinsol's shoulder.

"Uh, yeah," Jinsol said quickly, closing the laptop. "Haewon asked me to help her look at venues."

"That's sweet of you." Yoona pressed a kiss to the top of her head.

Two weeks before the planned proposal, Yoona came home from work all upset, throwing herself onto the couch with a sigh so heavy it made Jinsol worry.

"What’s wrong, honey?" Jinsol asked, sitting down next to her and pulling Yoona close.

"Everything," Yoona mumbled into Jinsol's shoulder. "My boss is being horrible, the project is falling apart, I just want to disappear."

"Hey," Jinsol said softly, gently tilting Yoona’s chin up. "Look at me."

"I'm sorry. I know you had a long day too..."

"No need to say sorry," Jinsol gently wiped a tear from Yoona’s cheek. "It’s okay to have bad days. That’s what I’m here for."

"Sometimes I feel like I don't deserve you." Yoona whispered.

"You deserve everything good in the world. I promise I’ll spend the rest of my life making sure you know that."

The words just tumbled out before she could pull them back. Yoona’s eyes opened a little wider in surprise. But before she could even ask what that meant, Jinsol leaned in and kissed her.

"I love you.”

"I love you too," Yoona replied. "What would I do without you?"

"You'll never have to find out.”

That night, as Yoona slept curled against her side, Jinsol ran through her proposal plans one more time. She'd booked the private observation deck at Namsan Tower for sunset, arranged for a photographer, even coordinated with the tower's management to play their favorite song. Everything was perfect.

She just hoped she wouldn't chicken out.

The day of the proposal dawned bright and clear, the kind of perfect autumn day that made Seoul look like a postcard. Jinsol woke up with butterflies in her stomach, her hands shaking slightly as she made coffee.

"You're jittery today," Yoona wrapped her arms around Jinsol from behind. "Is everything alright?"

"Yes, I’m totally fine. I was thinking we could head to Namsan Tower today? Maybe watch the sunset."

"That sounds perfect." Yoona said, pressing a kiss to Jinsol's shoulder.

The day passed in a blur of nervous. Jinsol suggested they spend the afternoon shopping to pass time and work off her anxiety. Yoona seemed to sense her girlfriend's nervous but she thought it was stress from work.

As the sun began to set, they made their way to Namsan Tower. Jinsol's palms were sweating as she held Yoona's hand. The ring box felt like it was burning a hole in her jacket pocket.

"Are you sure you're okay?" Yoona asked as they reached the observation deck. "You seem really nervous."

Jinsol gave a small smile, her voice a little higher than normal. "I'm good. I’m just... excited to watch the sunset with you."

The private corner of the deck was all decked out with fairy lights and rose petals. Yoona couldn't help but gasp as they stepped into the romantic scene.

"Jinsol, how did you—"

"I wanted tonight to be special." Jinsol interrupted, her heart pounding so hard she was sure Yoona could hear it.

The sun was beginning to set over Seoul. It was the perfect background for what Jinsol hoped would be the perfect moment.

"Yoona," She began, turning to face her girlfriend. "Do you remember what you said to me on our first date?"

Yoona's brow wrinkled slightly. "Which part? I was nervous, I said so many things."

"You told me you felt like you'd been waiting your whole life for someone like me," Jinsol said softly. "I laughed then, because I thought it was just a cheesy line."

"It wasn't a pickup line, I meant it."

"I know," Jinsol smiled. "I've thought about those words every day since. Because the truth is, I felt the same way. I just didn't know how to put it into words."

"Jinsol..."

"I love everything about you, I love how you scrunch up your nose when you're concentrating. I love how you always steal the last bite of my food but pretend you don't want any. I love how you get grumpy when you're tired but try to hide it. I love how you make me laugh even when I'm having the worst day."

"Why are you—" Yoona started, but Jinsol quickly raised a hand to stop her.

"I'm not done," Jinsol said with a sweet laugh. "I love how you support my dreams even when they're crazy. I love how you remember all my favorite things and surprise me with them. I love how you make me want to be better, kinder, more patient. I love how you love me, completely and unconditionally."

By this point, tears were streaming down Yoona's face. She covered her mouth in shock as she began to realize what was happening.

"Six years ago, you said you'd been waiting your whole life for someone like me," Jinsol said, dropping to one knee and pulling out the ring box. "I've been waiting my whole life for you. I want to spend the rest of my life waiting for you to get ready in the morning, stealing bites of your food," Jinsol continued, opening the ring box to reveal the sparkling diamond. "Yoona, will you marry me?"

For a moment, Yoona just stared at her, tears streaming down her cheeks. Then she nodded, her hands shaking as she reached for Jinsol.

"Yes." She whispered. "Yes, yes, yes, of course yes!"

Jinsol's hands were shaking as she slid the ring onto Yoona's finger. It fit perfectly. Before she even had a chance to get up, Yoona threw herself into her arms.

"I love you," She sobbed into Jinsol's neck. "I love you so much. I can't believe you did this."

"I love you too," Jinsol laughed, spinning Yoona around happily. "You said yes."

"Did you think I wouldn't?" Yoona pulled back to look at her.

"I was terrified."

"You never have to be terrified of that," Yoona said firmly. "You're stuck with me forever now."

Then they kissed, soft and sweet and perfect. The lights of Seoul twinkling around them and their special song played in the background. When they finally pulled apart, they were crying and laughing at the same time.

"I can't believe you kept this secret," Yoona admired the ring on her finger. "You're usually terrible at keeping secrets."

"I had some help," Jinsol confessed. "Haewon threatened to kill me if I messed it up."

"How long have you been planning this?"

"Two months," Jinsol said sheepishly. "I wanted everything to be perfect for you."

"It’s perfect," Yoona said, cupping Jinsol's face. "You're perfect. This is perfect. I love you."

"I love you too," Jinsol replied. "My fiancée."

They spent the rest of the evening on the observation deck, talking about wedding plans. Yoona couldn't stop admiring her ring, holding it up to catch the light and grinning like a fool.

"I want a spring wedding, with cherry blossoms."

"Whatever you want," Jinsol said, hugging her. "As long as you're there."

"I'll be there," Yoona assured her, relaxing into Jinsol's embrace. "I'll always be there."

As the sky darkened and the stars started to twinkle, they walked back home together, their hands linked and feeling full of joy.

"I can't wait to call my mom," Yoona said excitedly as they entered their living room. "She's going to cry."

"She's going to cry?" Jinsol laughed. "You haven't stopped crying since I proposed."

"Happy tears.”

They settled onto the couch, the very spot where they’d spent so many moments over the years.

"So," Yoona began, turning to Jinsol with a big smile. "How does it feel to be engaged to the most beautiful woman in Korea?"

"I wouldn't know," Jinsol teased. "I'm engaged to the most beautiful woman in the world."

Yoona's smile shone brightly as she leaned in to kiss her fiancée. "I love you."

"I love you too."

And this was just the beginning. The best was yet to come.
