“There you are, dummy!!” Momo yelled, running up to Okarun.
“Ah!?Miss Ayase, I was wondering where you were,” Ken responded, turning around to face her.
They were currently at the entrance of an abandoned park that they helped to exorcize a while back. It was Momo's idea to meet here.
“Close your eyes”
“w-why?”
“Just do it dummy!!”
“F- fine but this better not be some prank”
As he said that he felt as she lightly grabbed his hand and started to lead him somewhere inside the park. It was quiet for the most part.
The last time they were here was pretty chaotic, especially with the yokai’s wailing.
“Okay, stand right there, gimme a sec!!” Momo giggled.
“Alright,” he listened to the crunch of her steps as she paced away and then returned.
“Alright, open up” she whispered, it sent chills up his spine. As he opened his eyes he was speechless. In her arms was a neon green guitar covered in both yokai and alien stickers plus an M.A x K.T near the base.
“Miss Ayase this is…” he paused.
“Consider it a thank you after buying me that new phone” she said,
“Also how many times do I have to say it, you can just call me Momo dummy, we've been dating for weeks,” she teased.
“You’re not any better, y'know,” he retaliated.
As he said that, he slowly took the guitar and strummed it. ‘Needs tuning,’ he thought but still couldn't help but blush at seeing their initials next to each other. His last guitar got destroyed during an alien attack when they were hanging out at his place.
“Welp c'mon the picnic isn't going to finish itself,” she said.
“Oh! Right,” he yelped following after her. Behind her was a small yet cute little picnic set up, with a pink blanket set just for the two of them.
“Sooo, are ya gonna play me something”
“like wha-”
“Idk just something!!”
“well I don't know, I'm still just an awkward guy” he said as he started tuning the guitar
She bristled and turned away flushed,
“How many times do I have to tell you not to say that!!” she whined, lightly swatting at him.
“I'm surprised, you still get flustered by that, aren't you the one who said we've been dating for weeks now” he teased as he started testing the instrument.
As he started to play, his nerves began to lessen. He picked up guitar as an after school hobby given the fact he was basically a nobody. He never expected to play in front of someone, nevermind a person he could call his girlfriend.
As he continued, they both just let themselves relax in the tranquility with the only other sounds being the rustling of trees and birds singing.
It was peaceful.
“What did you think of doing before all this?” Momo asked.
“That’s a little sudden don't you think”
“Just go with me here”
He paused as he continued to play.
“Honestly not much or at least not anything remarkable, I was a nobody before this, just a kid who was so desperate for a friend that I thought aliens were my only other option.”
She giggled “Not all you hoped it to be huh”
“Quiet,” he shushed, “What about you?”
“Dreams of grandeur” she answered, “ I always thought that there was more for me out there than just life. I always loved the idea of getting out there and exploring and also having someone there to be there with me.” she said, getting a little flustered at the end.
“Guess the universe answered both our calls,” he said as he finished playing.
“Gosh that sounds corny,” she giggled, “cmon let's start eating, I'm starved!”
