Work Text:

It was Valentines Day in Irkutsk. The year was 2010, and just a year prior your parents had moved you to a communist block in the Akademgorodok neighbourhood. Although it looked so brutalist and depressing, you had grown to find comfort in the atmosphere.
During your time there you’d noticed two boys, though one stood out to you in particular. You didn’t fully know his name, but you guessed it was Nikita as that’s what you heard the other boy call him. Nikita wasn’t the most typically popular attractive type of guy, he had acne and greasy hair. But you still thought he was super cute. He usually walked around in a leather jacket or a ripoff Purgen hoodie, so you assumed he liked metal. Similar to you, you thought.
The other boy was blonde and skinny. He seemed to be the more outgoing, or I guess aggressive, one. You didn’t really know his name.

As you set out that morning, you packed a rose in your pocket in the hopes of seeing Nikita. You also had some chocolates that you thought were universally liked and didn’t really have any allergens in them. With that, you were ready. You thought you looked really pretty that day, considering you’d styled your hair and put on some makeup. At least you looked more put together than normal.
The second you stepped outside you wished you’d put on an extra layer. The lace of your skirt was definitely not enough to protect you from the winter cold, especially not in Irkutsk. Your legs grew a light blush on them due to this. The snow beneath your feet crunched with every step you took, creating a nice ambience that slightly soothed your nerves.
On your walk you saw him, or rather them. Nikita was walking alongside the other boy, both of them laughing. You noticed how high pitched their laughs were and found it cute, but brushed the thought off. He was wearing a dark blue sweater underneath his usual leather jacket. He looked even nicer to you now than ever. You walked over, making the blonde’s head flick towards you as Nikita kept talking.
“Um…hello.” You said, your voice quiet and sweet. Nikita looked at you, so now both boys were simply staring in your direction.
“What do you want?” The blonde boy said, a small smirk on his lips. You went through your handbag and picked out the rose and chocolates, holding them out to Nikita. You looked down out of shyness, but took small glances up at him. His eyes widened. He didn’t seem put off in any way, not amused. He took them from your hands and looked over them, reading the label on the pack of chocolates. The other boy burst out laughing, the sound almost squeaky.
“What, a little Valentine for him? You really think he’s willing to date you?” He said through laughs. Nikita pushed his hands back down, now looking a little embarrassed and wanting to go along with his friend’s demeanour.
“Yeah, that’s ridiculous. I’d rather see you dead than as my girlfriend.” He plastered on a smirk. He felt a little guilty, but didn’t acknowledge it at all. The other boy only laughed more.
“God, I wish we could see her dead. Maybe then we’d want her, bring some color to her body.”
“Yeah, in the form of blood, dumbass.” Nikita replied, and the two simply laughed for a moment before the blonde grabbed the chocolates and emptied them all into his mouth.
“Thanks for the free food, dumb bitch.” The two boys walked away after that, leaving you stood in the snow alone. That went way worse than you had imagined, you thought. At least they didn’t actually kill you like the blonde seemed to be fantasising about. You decided to go for a walk to clear your mind.

On your walk through the city, you saw a few couples celebrating the day. It made your heart hurt a little, but you hoped that one day you would find what they had. After a few hours of needlessly walking about, you stood still, gazing around. It was now around 5pm, nearly dark due to the winter, but still bright from the snow. What you didn’t notice while looking around was Nikita rushing towards you. He quickly pushed you, pinning you back against the concrete apartment block. You didn’t have time to think before he smashed his lips against yours, moaning slightly at the contact. He gripped your arms, parting your lips with his tongue. You leaned in, shutting your eyes. What was happening? A couple hours earlier he had made fun of you, and now he had his tongue down your throat behind a random apartment building. He eventually pulled away to catch his breath. You were guessing he caught onto your confusion, as he sighed.
“I’m sorry about earlier, Artyom’s a dick.” He said, a little breathless. At least now you knew the other boy’s name.
“So what is this? Do you like me or not?”
“Well, you’re really pretty and cute and whatever, duh. Uh, If I was alone maybe, um, I would’ve just said yes but um, Artyom would probably make fun of me so, uh, yeah.” You found his awkwardness and constant ‘um’s endearing.
“So…can I just continue what I was doing?” He said, though he would probably continue anyway. You nodded in reply, and he kissed you fervently. You tilted your head back, allowing him to kiss you more deeply. You chose not to mention how unsubtly he stuck his hand down his pants and started touching himself. You wouldn’t really expect anything less, you didn’t see him as the gentleman type anyway. He let out small sighs and moans between kisses. You eventually pulled back to place half kisses half bites down his neck, causing him to tip his head back, allowing you more room.
“Try not to bite too hard, I don’t want Artyom to notice…” he muttered, and you went along with what he asked. You didn’t really understand why he cared so much about his friend’s opinion. Shouldn’t friends be accepting? But, it’s not like you could change anything, so you just continued kissing him until his phone buzzed in his jeans pocket. He sighed, checking it. You thought it must be Artyom. He gripped your hair and pulled you into a passionate kiss before leaving without even a goodbye. Once again, you were stood in the snow alone, only this time your lips were sore and your hair messy. You wanted to be with him, but you knew your luck too well, and there was a high chance you’d never see him again. This was your miserable life, after all. So, you sighed and set off back home, not being able to take your mind off of him.
