Grow Wings

Summary:

On the run from HYDRA and Captain America, Bucky Barnes finds himself working in a new environment, far from civilisation. Specifically, a farm in the middle of the country, surrounded by mountains and miles of endless, empty fields.

He's on a journey with one objective. To survive. And sure, it might've seemed like an easy task as a ruthless killing machine when you had only one order to follow.

But not out there, where the day started when the sun rose and ended when it finally dipped beyond the horizon. And certainly not with one inconvenient factor. That for every day that passed, he was slowly becoming more human again.

And then there's Lily. A country girl with dreams bigger than her body, as well as being a victim of the traditional ways of those around her.

But getting caught up in the life of a man on the run from his past, plagued by memories of his unintentional wrongdoings probably wasn't the brightest choice.

Will they be able to grow wings and grow/soar in terms of success, happiness and love? Or will it all come crashing down the moment Bucky's past comes back to haunt him?

Hey, y'all! Welcome back for another fic!

For this one, we meet Bucky pre-civil war, while he's on the run from HYDRA and the Avengers. This takes place about right after he decides to leg it once he remembers Steve, with fuzzy memories and a lot of coding that he needs to break away from, with a special someone making it a little interesting ;)

I am aware that this trope of Cowboy Bucky has been done a million times over and you've probably read the same about of fics about it lol, and although this mightn't be very original, it sure is a fun one to read and write so if you've been feeling like you're lacking a little Cowboy and Bucky Barnes in your life, you've come to the right place!

Full disclosure, I do not live in North America (I'm actually Australian) and therefore I am forced to simply research the exact details of country life over there, so please be kind if you find anything incorrect lol. Farming and country life is a little different where I'm from so bear with me!

Also, I strongly advise listening to country music while reading, and I know some of y'all hate it, but it really captures the essence. There's a playlist I made on Spotify with my same username if you wanna check that out.
