Work Text:
Nina never asked for much. Her perfect day was being at home with her cats, reading a book, and, maybe if she was feeling daring, making herself a cocktail to enjoy while she read. It was exactly what she was doing right now as she lay propped up in bed with her book in her hand and her cats lying in different areas of the bed. She was glad for this day off from work, as she had been working more overtime to finish up a deadline that was steadily creeping up on her.
What she was not expecting was a knock on her door.
When Nine looked up, she smiled as Stu stood in the doorway. His shirt had long since been forgotten, possibly hidden somewhere in her house that neither of them would find until the house got deep cleaned, and his pants were far too baggy as they threatened to fall off his narrow hips and showcase the band of his boxers. Nina set her book down and gestured for him to come in.
"You live here now, silly. You don't have to knock."
"I know," Stu replied, taking his place beside her on the bed, "But you looked like you were deep into your book. Didn't want to barge in an' startle you."
Nina chuckled, "Well, thank you for being so considerate."
"You know what, though?"
"What?"
"I can only be so considerate for so long."
At that, Stu rolled to lie on top of her and tickled her on both sides. Nina burst into laughter as she writhed underneath him while flailing her arms. She could hear Stu laughing as his fingertips tickled all along her sides, creeping up and going to her underarms. Nina could have easily pushed him off her, but a part of her enjoyed this. When she felt that she could no longer breathe, she started to gasp out, "Alright! Alright, stop!" to which Stu ended the tickling session, folding his arms to rest underneath his chin while he grinned at her. As she felt herself calming down and regaining her breath, she couldn't help but fondly smile at him and reach out to scritch the top of his head like she would her cats. Stu closed his eyes before moving his arms to wrap them around her and bury his face into her stomach. Nina quietly laughed.
"You becoming one of the cats?"
"I could be," Stu said, muffled.
At this, the room returned to a comfortable silence. Nina picked up her book with one hand and continued reading, while with her other hand, she lazily petted Stu. It was indeed a wonderful day off.
