Work Text:
Soft morning light peek through the blinds as periodic chirps greet Eli's exhausted ears. He appears to be struggling not to doze off mid-conversation, lazily nodding his head, fighting for his eyes to stay open, but the low baritone voice seems to easily ease him to a sleepy wonderland. Eli couldn't help but find the voice to be so soothing. He wouldn't mind listening to it for hours on end. Sadly, Eli loses this battle as he drifts off, the smooth voice fading as his eyes finally close.
…
…
…
“-you still there?” Jolting awake, Eli frantically apologizes, reassuring the other that he is in fact still there. Well, mostly still there.
“Eli… Isn't it morning for you? I'm sorry for keeping you up the whole night…”
“O-oh no, it's alright, Naib! I really don't mind staying up! Really!” He blurts out while he quickly fixes his posture.
“So, what were you saying, Naib? Before I dozed off.”
“...”
“Naib?” Eli calls out, thinking maybe his connection dropped. He quickly checks to see a green ping, ‘Strong connection’ in small bold letters.
“Mhmm? Oh sorry Eli, I was just thinking…” Naib softly murmurs into his mic.
“Hmm, what about?” Eli props up his arm onto the desk, resting his head on his palm; half-lidded eyes stare at the monitor in sleepy anticipation.
“Oh… I was thinking about…how I'm going to convince you to sleep is all.” Naib slowly lets out.
“Mm, really now… How would you—” Turning his head inward, Eli muffles a big yawn that escaped from his mouth with his palm, before returning to rest on his palm once again.
“And…how would you convince me, Naib dearest…” He mumbled tiredly, his eyes once again falling shut.
“I- I um… m-maybe a ki-” A resounding THUD followed by quiet snores is picked up by the mic. Naib lets out a soft chuckle, a tiny smile finds it way on his face as he bids the sleeping Eli a good night's rest.
