A Simple Tweet

Summary:

Zoey thought that her announcement in the form of a tweet would be funny and sweet. Oh, how wrong she was...

Work Text:

A Simple Tweet

In Zoey’s defence, she thought the post would be funny. She had seen the memes and had reckoned it would be a good idea. So, at 11:57pm on a Friday evening, she made a post to her official X account.

Mira @miraHuntr/x and I are no longer girlfriends.

A ring emoji was added in the comment section and with that, she had gone to bed, giggling as she did, not knowing the effect it was going to have on the internet. The second she had hit send; a war had started over all social media platforms that Zoey was blissfully unaware about while she slept. The next morning, she had woken with a fright as the other two members of Huntr/x were glaring down at her.

“Zoey!” They both exclaimed at her, causing her to yelp and tumble out of bed.

“What did you do?” Rumi pushed her phone in front of Zoey showing that her post from last night had exploded over the internet.

“Did you tell the internet we had broken up?” Mira was almost shouting but was restraining herself with great patience.

“What?” Zoey took Rumi’s phone and started to scroll through the comments. “No, I was announcing we had married.”

“Zoey, that’s a terrible way to say we are married,” Mira pinched the bridge of her nose with an exasperated sigh. “The fans have taken it majorly out of context and now people are angry and fighting each other.”

“But…but…but…I had explained it in the comments,” Zoey spluttered out as she read the comments further.

The comments were in two camps; they were either saying hateful things about Zoey or hateful things about Mira. Apparently, everyone was trying to decipher the cause of Zoey’s so-called breakup with her longtime off-on again girlfriend.

“Apparently, I was having an affair with a member of BTS?” Zoey cried out when she saw the posts that alluded to her fictional affair.

“Yeah, be realistic guys, Zoey couldn’t land one of those guys,” sniggered Rumi.

A pillow was thrown at her for her comment which she ducked, still sniggering. Apparently, she was finding the whole affair simply hilarious.

“Be serious Rumi,” Mira said. “We gotta do some serious damage control.”

“Just post that you’re married,” Rumi pointed out. “Problem solved.”

Zoey’s eyes lit up. “Perfect!”

Zoey grabbed her phone and quickly typed out a quick and easy post.

Sorry for the confusion everyone, Mira is now my wife not girlfriend.

“Annnnd send,” she said as hit ‘post’ but nothing happened.

Confused, she tried hitting it several more times but still, nothing happened.

“It’s not letting me post!” Zoey squealed, handing her phone to the other two girls.

Rumi took the phone and started to look at her account. In the space of ten seconds, her face went from concern to full on laughter. The other two stared at her in confusion.

“Apparently you have been banned for and I quote ‘inciting terrorist actions’,” Rumi could hardly get the words out as she could hardly breath for laughing.

“What?!:” exclaimed the two others while Mira grabbed the phone.

“Let me handle this,” Mira mumbled, and she took out her own phone and started to type. “Wait…” her eyes narrowed. “I can’t post either!” A few more seconds passed while Rumi and Zoey looked over at her. “I have been banned as well and for the same reasons!”

Rumi almost collapsed from hysterics. To be fair, if it hadn’t been happening to them, Zoey would have laughed too. Mira let out a long-exasperated sigh as she collapsed onto the bed she shared with her wife.

“I give up,” her voice was muffled by the pillow she had buried her face into. “Let them have their fan war. I don’t care anymore.”

“Um guys,” Rumi was tugging at Zoey’s sleeve and pointing out the window. “Um, what is happening to the Honmoon?”

“What?” Zoey drew out the word as she raced to the window and sure enough, Rumi was right. Patches of weak spots could be seen all over the city. “This is not good.”

“I think this is gonna take more than a social media post to fix this,” Rumi looked out at the Honmoon with a nervous expression all over her face. “I posted this a few seconds ago and people are saying I got hacked.”

Zoey leaned over to read the post.

Hey guys Rumi here, I see there’s a lot of people talking about Zoey and Mira but I wanna clear up by saying that they are married now :) they haven’t broken up!

Zoey read through the comments next.

Yeah right, this is clearly a way to distract the fans.

As if Zoey would marry that troublemaker.

Why would Mira downgrade herself?

“Why is there so much hate?” Zoey could cry right there and then. That was when an idea struck her. “Could these be demons? Fanning the flames to create issues within Huntr/x?”

“Most likely” Rumi said as she took her phone back. “Creating conspiracies and hate would be a great way to get distrust going in the fans.”

“Girls!” The voice of their manager, Bobby, was enough to pull them back to the room. The three Huntr/x left Mira and Zoey’s room and found Bobby in their living room scrolling through social media on his phone. “It’s way worse than we thought - I am assuming you have seen what is being posted on the internet?”

Rumi and Mira side glanced at their third member who tried to shrink away.

“Yes,” they all said at once.

“I have you booked to go live discussing this breakup tomorrow,” Bobby said, not looking up at his phone.

“Breakup?” The three confused girls gave him a befuddled look.

“Bobby, we didn’t break up,” Mira said, crossing his arms.

“What?” That was enough to bring Bobby’s attention off his phone. “You mean to say…”

“We got married last weekend,” Zoey said as she and Mira showed Bobby their matching gold bands.

“OH THANK GODDNESS!” Bobby flung his arms around the two nearly choking them to death. “For a moment I thought-”

“Bobby, let them breathe,” Rumi let out a small chuckle.

“So,” Bobby could hardly take a moment, he was just so excited. “What happened?”

“You know how we were on holiday in Iceland last week?” Zoey had a dreamy look on her face. “Well, we just happened to be near Dyrhólaey Ocean Cliffs and we just looked at each other and said, ‘let’s get married here’. So, a day later, we said ‘I do’ as the sunset winked at us.”

Zoey slipped her hand into Mira’s and beamed at her wife who returned the warmth.

Bobby had the biggest eyes at this. “I love my girls,” he sighed deeply, lost in the warmth of it all. “Okay, we will just talk about that tomorrow during the interview.”

The girls looked over and saw that the small weak spots had grown larger.

“If we can make it that long,” Rumi whispered.

It was like Rumi could see the future. That night, the three Hunters were out patrolling the street. They were sure that there would be some activity and they were right. Rumi was currently leaning against a lamppost watching the street. There was something in the air that told her there was something more here. It was quiet - too quiet.

Her steps echoed around the street as she walked up and down. Something was going to happen - she could feel it in her bones. Rumi turned a corner and instead of a demon, she came face to face with Mira and Zoey full on making out against a window ad. Shielding her eyes, Rumi made a large coughing sound which alerted the others to her presence. Quickly breaking apart, the two lovebirds looked rather embarrassed while Rumi tutted her disapproval.

“You do realise there could be demons about?” She gave a stern expression to the other two who just shrugged. Rumi threw her hands up in defeat. “Honestly,” she tutted to herself. “At least it wasn’t as bad as walking in on you having s-”

“What’s that over there?” Zoey quickly interrupted leaving Rumi to only smirk as she clearly changed the subject out of pure embarrassment.

Rumi followed Zoey’s direction, and indeed, there was something lurking around there. A strange noise could be heard echoing from it. Gripping their weapons tightly, the three Hunters swiftly made their way down the street towards the strange noise.

“Now,” whispered Rumi.

The three Hunters raised their weapons, preparing to attack, when suddenly a large fluff ball came hurtling at Rumi and collided right into her face. Rumi let out a large gasp mixed with a scream as the fluff ball clawed at her before letting out a large yelp and disappearing into the night. Of course, the other two found this simply hilarious.

“Bloody cat!” Rumi let out a long exclamation, trying to calm her rapidly beating heart.

“Serves you right for spying,” sniggered Zoey.

Rumi could only shake her head. “No justice,” she muttered as the three continued back towards where they had come from.

They had barely taken three steps when suddenly demons appeared out of weak spots in the Honmoon.

“Ready?” Rumi said to the others who nodded in response.

“Hunters!” shrieked a demon.

“Get them!” yelled out another one.

Rumi’s sword was already swinging before the demons even registered what was going on. The blade cut through not one, not two, but three demons in a row. Behind her Zoey threw her knives that precisely hit the two demons that were next to Rumi. Meanwhile Mira’s Waldo was cutting through demons left and right.

“Where are these guys all coming from?” Mira shouted as she leapt over her wife to deliver a decisive blow to the demon next to her.

“We need to fix the Honmoon and fast,” Rumi shouted out as she jumped from the lamppost to land a slicing blow on several demons.

“Let’s hope Bobby’s right about the interview tomorrow,” Zoey said as she parkoured down the street - leaping from building to building throwing her knives at demon after demon.

“That seems to be the last of them,” Rumi said, as the three girls came together to see an empty street before them.

“For now,” Mira folded her arms to survey it further.

“Come on babe,” Zoey wrapped her arms around her wife, “we got this.”

Mira smiled down at Zoey whose eyes were simply sparkling.

“Yeah,” Mira leaned down to give her a tender kiss, “we do.”

“Ugh, gross,” Rumi started to walk away, “I’ll leave you to your PDA somewhere else.”

Suddenly she felt a tackle from behind as a squealing Zoey collided with her trying to give her a bear hug but ended up being more of a tackle. Rumi could only smile. Sure, she teased but she loved seeing her two best friends together. They really made a great match and tomorrow the world will see it too.

Mira was awakened by the sudden noise of someone knocking at her bedroom door.

“What time is it?” She groaned as she tried to disentangle herself from Zoey to check her alarm clock. “Ten after five?!” She exclaimed, forcing Zoey to wake with a yelp. “Someone better be dying!”

“Are you two decent?” The voice of Rumi could be heard through the door.

Mira looked down at hers and Zoey’s naked bodies wrapped in only a single sheet.

“Er…” Mira’s voice trailed off.

“I’m gonna take that ‘er’ as a ‘no Rumi, we are not decent, please don’t come in,” Mira could practically hear Rumi’s smirk through the door.

“What do you want?” Mira replied, trying to see through the darkness for her clothes that had been thrown onto the floor the previous night.

“Bobby called, we need to be up and ready in thirty minutes!”

“Thirty minutes!” Zoey squeaked as she leapt out of bed, desperately trying to find her pants.

“I’ll put the coffee on while you guys get dressed!”

It took the pair of them several long - and on Zoey’s part, panicky - minutes to find some clothes to appear decent. They exited their room soon after to find Rumi pouring coffee into three takeaway cups.

“Limo is downstairs ready to go!” Rumi said, sipping her drink.

Mira and Zoey each grabbed their cup and followed their third member down the elevator to the outside where they found their usual limo driver waiting with the door open.

“Girls, glad to see you!” Bobby was waiting for them in the limo with a smile and energy that Mira thought should be illegal for this time of day.

“Would be good to see you too if the sun was up,” Mira muttered into her coffee which earned her a playful slap from her wife.

“The interview I have scheduled for today starts midafternoon but they want you in hair and makeup ASAP!”

“Thank you, Bobby!” The three girls all chimed together which made their manager blush.

The second they stepped into the studio; they were quickly ushered into a dressing room. Once there, they were changed, hair done and makeup all done. It took several long hours for it all to be done. It didn’t help that Zoey kept sending her flirty looks and thirsty texts which took all of Mira’s self-control not to change her face from a neutral expression.

“What’s up?” Rumi had the misfortune of asking after Zoey sent a very particular text message.

“You do not want to know,” Mira said, struggling not to turn any darker shade of red she already was.

Rumi seemed to have telepathic powers as she let out a surprised ‘oh’ and turned a shade of red too.

“Zoey!” Mira said to her wife who winked in return.

“I’m not doing anything,” she said in an extremely flirty way which wouldn’t convince anyone.

Mira was saved from having to reply by one of the production assistants coming to get them. The three of them were led onto a stage that was surrounded by roaring fans. They all waved before taking a seat opposite Korea's best interviewer - Nari Cho. A few minutes of people scrambling around trying to get everyone ready before Nari started to make her introduction speech.

“Welcome to KTV where we have all the latest news regarding only the hottest of topics,” Nari said. “Today, we are joined by Korea’s and definitely the world’s favourite k-pop group - Huntr/x!” Nari turned to look at her guest, a warm smile plastered over her features. “They are here in an exclusive interview to discuss their private relationship and folks you know we will get the answers you seek. Welcome girls,” Nari added to the three.

“Thanks for having us,” the three of them chimed.

Zoey watched as Nari started to get her notes together before she continued with the interview.

“So, Zoey,” Nari turned to face the youngest member of the trio. Zoey felt her heart beating faster and faster with nerves. Out of the corner of her eye, she could see Mira giving her a reassuring smile which warmed her soul. She could do this, she told herself as she straightened up into position. “You tweeted this last night,” Nari brought up the offending tweet on the screen behind them. “Could you explain the meaning behind it that has fans so riled up?”

“Like how you broke Mira’s heart!” Screamed a fan in the audience.

“Oh please,” shouted another one, “Mira was the one who broke Zoey’s heart!”

“Zoey is the one having the affair!”

“That’s a rumour!”

“Is not!”

“People please,” Nari’s voice was drowned out by the continuous rumbling of the crowd. A few more pleas were attempted before she eventually sat down, rubbing her temple. “Security,” she said in a weak voice.

Security tried their best to wrangle the crowd. It took them several long minutes but eventually the fans calmed down.

“So, Zoey,” Nari said, taking advantage of the silence, “you were saying?”

“It’s kinda embarrassing,” mumbled Zoey. A small hand squeeze from Mira was all she needed to keep going. “I thought people would get the reference - since it’s a popular meme and all.”

“What meme is this?” Nari enquired.

“You know the meme is like ‘oh so and so is my ex-girlfriend, they’re my wife’ meme,” Zoey explained.

There was a small gasp amongst the crowd and especially Nari as they all realised what Zoey was saying.

“Do you mean to say…” Nari could hardly finish what she was saying, she was that excited.

In response, Mira and Zoey held up their left hands as the cameras zoomed in showing their gold wedding rings.

“We got married,” Zoey beamed with delight at the crowd.

The roar from the crowd was enough to rival most sports crowds. The sheer force of the excitement radiated throughout the stage. People cheered, stomped their feet and threw things into the air.

“Security,” a weakened Nari said but this time with a smile on her face.

It took longer this time for the crowd to calm down but once they did, you could still feel the excitement reverberating throughout the air.

“Married!” Exclaimed Nari, still beaming with excitement. “Tell us about that!”

Zoey launched into the story of their trip to Iceland which fans had been eagerly following on Instagram. She could barely contain her excitement in the retelling of the story - with help from Mira of course - but neither could the crowd. It was like they were feeding off each other.

“So how long have you guys been together?” Nari asked. “Three…four years?”

“Five years on and off,” Mira explained. “We didn’t really officially become girlfriends for a long time. It was more of a…friends with benefits for a while.”

“So, you guys have been more or less together since the start of Huntr/x?”

Zoey looked at Mira as she tried to think. “I think about six or seven months into starting the band we sorta got together for the first time?”

“You wanna share more dets?” Nari waggled her eyebrows at the couple who blushed instantly.

As Nari spoke, Zoey was plunged into a memory.

It was a cold winter’s day. Huntr/x’s first album had just been released and it had been a roaring success. The three pop stars were in their penthouse trying to think of things to do. They had a few days off between shows and Zoey and Mira were desperate to spend one of them in relative comfort and not being forced to do their dance routine for the millionth time that day.

“I’m bored,” Zoey said as she collapsed onto the kitchen counter.

“You were the one who wanted this day off,” Rumi reminded her but with a small chuckle in her voice that told her that she wasn’t in the least serious.

Zoey then suddenly perked up. An idea had struck her and struck her hard.

“Let’s go to the bathhouse, come on, it’s perfect weather for it!”

Rumi suddenly got nervous. “I don’t think I’ll-”

“Did someone say bathhouse?” Mira stuck her head out of her door to look at the two. “I’m so in.”

Zoey’s thoughts were suddenly drawn to the idea of Mira, sopping wet, drying the water droplets off her beautiful, shimmering skin. It was enough to get her heart racing and maybe a little drool at the side of her mouth.

“Earth to Zoey,” a hand was being waved in front of her.

“What?” Zoey was rudely snapped back to reality which she didn’t find particularly amusing. She did enjoy her Mira daydreams after all but even she had to admit they were becoming a problem. Ever since she had met Mira some time ago, all she could do was fawn over this fantasy of her. She needed to move on and move on fast but it was easier said than done. This feeling she had - it wasn’t like anything she had felt before. Sure, she had a couple of boyfriends and girlfriends in the past but none of them compared to Mira in the slightest. Oh man, did she have a massive crush and boy was it bad.

“You said you wanted to go to the bathhouse?” Mira was standing in front of her, arms slightly folded, eyebrows raised.

“Oh yeah,” Zoey quickly remembered what was going on. “Rumi, wanna join?”

“You guys go on without me,” Rumi quickly answered.

“You’re so modest Rumi, it’s just the bathhouse,” Mira said but Rumi just shook her head. “Suit yourself,” she shrugged.

The pair of them soon found themselves at their regular bathhouse. Zoey couldn’t stop glancing over at her companion as they dipped into the hot water. Sure, it wasn’t their first time here and they had always come together but something felt different about this time. Maybe it was because Mira had been looking at her earlier. Maybe it was Zoey’s crush reaching an all-time high. Maybe it was the fact that the bathhouse was completely empty (which was surprising considering the time of day and year). Either way, Zoey’s heart couldn’t stop beating hard and fast - so hard in fact, she was sure that Mira could hear it.

“So,” Zoey really drew out the word, she was desperate for something to take her mind off her racing heart, “the new album is doing really well, eh?”

“I still can’t believe it,” Mira replied, as she was leaning against the wall of the bath, her head facing the ceiling with her eyes closed. “People actually like us, Zoey!”

“Some of us more so,” Zoey said under her breath.

“What was that?” Mira opened her eyes to peer over at her friend.

“Oh nothing,” Zoey waved it off pretending she hadn’t said anything.

The next few minutes were filled with silence; however, Zoey could feel herself drifting closer and closer to Mira against her will. This was insane, she told herself, Mira doesn’t like you like that, snap out of it.

“Zoey?” Mira’s voice sounded different. It was small and full of vulnerability.

“Yeah?” Zoey whispered back.

“Do you think I’m likeable?”

“Whaaaat?” Zoey nearly slipped in the bath from shock while Mira blushed scarlet. “Mira what happened?”

“Someone may have commented something nasty on a selfie I posted the other day,” Mira mumbled in a fast tone.

Zoey nearly slipped for a second time. Who in their right mind would do something like that? Oh right, no one because Mira was an absolute queen and no one could even come close to her.

“Well, that person is obviously a jackass,” Zoey said, drifting closer to Mira. “You are one of the most beautiful people out there and your soul is simply gorgeous. Like you are one of the most kind heartened people I know. I know you say you are rough around the edges but that just adds to your beauty. The way you move during a song - it’s just so hypnotising. Like how can you not fall in love with the way you present yourself - what?”

Zoey had only just seen that Mira was giggling slightly.

“You really believe that about me?”

Zoey then realised that she was basically spilling out her heart to Mira. She quickly looked away to stop her seeing blush a deep red. Suddenly, she felt Mira close to her. Once she looked up Mira was only inches away from her.

“I think the same about you,” Mira whispered.

Their faces were extremely close now - Zoey could count all the eyelashes in Mira’s eyes. She couldn’t help herself - it was like her body was operating all on its own. Her lips found Mira’s and Mira’s found hers. Mira wrapped her arms around Zoey pulling her in closer - her lips never leaving Zoey’s. After several long minutes, they finally broke apart, giggling and laughing.

“You have no idea how long I’ve been wanting to do that,” Zoey said, resting her forehead against Mira’s.

“Me too,” Mira whispered back.

Zoey smiled at the memory of their first kiss. It had been nerve racking sure but it had been totally worth it. That was when she remembered she was supposed to be answering a question - maybe she shouldn’t share the story of how she and Mira made out in a bathhouse, maybe something more diplomatic.

“Mira and I just had a vulnerable moment together which led to our first kiss,” Zoey answered with many awes from the crowd including Nari, herself.

Mira saw the smile on Zoey’s face and knew she was recounting the memory of their first kiss. A warm feeling spread throughout her body as she too recounted the memory. It had been an interesting day and one she will never forget.

“Now Mira,” Nari had turned her attention to her now, to which Mira jumped a little. “You guys mentioned that you had been on/off for a while, so what made you guys decide to become official?"

Memories started to swirl around Mira’s brain at these words.

It had been three weeks since the end of the Saja Boys and the potentially world ending demon apocalypse. Every single one of these days Mira would look over at Zoey to finally confess her true feelings for her. It had at last hit her when they were battling Gwi-Ma. Sure, it had been fun fooling around with Zoey for the last few years but what she wanted was more and she wanted that with Zoey and only Zoey. The only problem was how to tell her?

Every day she would wake up determined but her courage would fail her the second she laid eyes on her. It was just too nerve racking - what if Zoey didn’t feel the same or what if she just wanted to continue doing what they had been doing? In the end, Mira just told herself to do it and get it over with and whatever happens at least Zoey will know how she feels.

That whole business with Mystery from the Saja Boys had shown her just how jealous she could get. Every time she saw Zoey giggling in his direction, a hot flare had erupted inside of her that had made her confused. It had taken some time but she had finally realised that she was jealous - something that just made her even more confused. Jealous, her? Unfortunately, yes, jealousy was an ugly beast and it was roaring her head. It told her that unless she got herself together and admitted her feelings, Zoey could easily get taken by someone else - someone who was hopefully not part of a demon boyband.

That evening, she got the opportunity she was looking for. Rumi had told them earlier that she was heading out that night to catch up with her aunt (something she had no trouble hiding that she wanted to get out of) which left the two of them alone.

“Arghhh,” Rumi’s groaning could be heard from across the penthouse.

Mira and Zoey had been sitting on the couch stuffing their faces when Rumi came into their eyesight. She was dressed rather nicely for what she had said was a casual sit-down meal with her aunt.

“Why does Celine want to see just me?” Rumi moaned to her fellow band mates. “Can you two please, please, please come?”

“Celine wants to see you, not us,” Zoey said, her face full of chips. “You got this, you know you do - besides it’s too late, we are in our jammies and are about to watch a movie.”

“I hate you guys,” Rumi mumbled as she started to walk towards the elevator.

“Love you too,” sang the other two.

Zoey quickly put the movie on after this and snuggled into Mira as the title sequence started to play. Mira started to feel very hot and her face started to flush. Zoey’s head was resting on her chest and just her touch was enough to send her heart into massive overdrive. Whenever she giggled or cried at the movie, Mira could feel her insides squirm. Her feelings were not going to make this any easier.

Snap out of it, Mira told herself again and again over the next two hours. Eventually, Mira decided that was enough was enough. She needed to tell Zoey as soon as the movie was over - and certainly before her feelings turned her into a melted blob on the floor.

“That was such a good movie,” Zoey sang as she turned off the TV. “I can see why everyone is raving about it.”

“Er Zoey, we need to talk?” Zoey turned to look at her, her face quizzical.

“Yes?”

“I’m so in love with you,” the words were out of Mira’s mouth before she could stop herself. Mira quickly clamped her hands over her mouth the instant she realised what she had said.

Zoey’s mouth fell open at this revaluation. She just stood there, gaping at Mira - simply lost for words. Mira took this opportunity to ramble on.

“I know it’s sudden but ever since that demon apocalypse thing, I’ve been thinking hard about what I want in life and then it hit me. I want you - more than anything. These last few years have been fun but I want more because I do love you Zoey - very much so. I know I’m not exactly girlfriend material, I know I have so many faults and I’m extremely sure you don’t feel the same way -” Mira’s speech was suddenly interrupted by Zoey throwing herself at Mira to give her a long tender kiss. Mira was speechless for several moments before a grin started to appear on her face. “Does this mean-?”

“Oh you silly goose,” Zoey gave her a small playful smack. “I have been in love with you for years too but never actually could admit it to you - let alone myself.”

“So does this mean you will be my girlfriend?” Mira asked, trying and definitely failing to not to sound too eager. “For real?”

“For real!” beamed Zoey.

Mira picked Zoey up and drew her lips into Zoey’s in a long passionate kiss. Zoey’s fingers started to play with Mira’s top, trying to take it off.

“Rumi will kill us if she knew we were gonna have sex on the living room couch,” laughed Mira.

“It hasn’t stopped us before,” Zoey wagged her eyebrows in a flirtatious manner.

“Good point,” Mira said.

“Less talking, more kissing,” Zoey demanded, bringing Mira closer to her.

“Yes ma’am,” breathed Mira as the two tumbled onto the couch together, still in their close embrace.

Mira sighed at the thought of that memory. She had been so scared to tell Zoey the truth but now it just seemed so silly. How could she have ever doubted what Zoey was feeling? Well, hindsight was 20/20 after all. Looking up at Nari, she could see that she was poised, ready for the answer.

“Well, I had finally realised my true feelings for Zoey,” Mira responded, taking deep breaths. “It had taken a while, yes, but eventually I confessed to Zoey - mind you it took a lot of courage - and she thankfully replicated my feelings.”

Mira’s words brought tears to the crowds’ eyes as they hung onto every single word. There were more ‘awes’ from the crowd and a crazy applause as Mira looked deeply into her wife’s eyes whose eyes sparkled back.

Rumi watched as her two band mates made sparkly eyes at each other. She couldn’t help but feel a warmth inside of her. These two had found their other half and the fact it was her two best friends made it so much warmer.

“Now Rumi,” Nari turned her attention to her now. “What were your thoughts when they announced they were together?”

“They didn’t exactly announce it,” Rumi said, with a sideways glance at her friends. “I sort of accidentally found out.”

“Oh, how?” Nari inquired.

This question took Rumi back a whole year ago when she finally learnt the truth about what her friends had been up to for so long.

It was your typical summer’s night - warm air had people wearing shorts instead of long pants and there wasn’t a single cloud in the sky. However, Rumi wasn’t going to be able to enjoy any of that. Rumi sighed as she entered the penthouse late one night. Her plans had unfortunately changed at the drop of a hat. Originally, she was supposed to meet up with Jihyo, the leader of Twice, but unfortunately, she had come down with a nasty cold. So, that was how she found herself walking back into her penthouse.

As Rumi walked into the living room, she found it empty. Curious, she thought as she placed her bag on the kitchen counter, she could have sworn she had left Zoey and Mira lying on the couch eating pizza. Sure enough, she found the half-eaten pizza laying on the coffee table - it looked abandoned. Just as she was wondering what had happened to them, she heard noises coming from Zoey’s room. Ah, maybe they had gone to collapse onto her bed or something. Rumi walked over to the room and knocked while opening the door.

“Hey guys - whaaaaa-?!” Rumi quickly covered her eyes as she raced from the room while yelps of distress came from the other two.

What she had seen - well no one should be forced to see that. Zoey had been on top of Mira while Mira had her head buried in Zoey’s chest and the pair of them had been stark naked. Rumi had run out screaming in shock.

“Rumi! We’re so sorry, we didn’t expect you home so soon!”

The two others had raced after her - after throwing on some clothes of course - while clambering their apologies.

“Obviously not,” Rumi was still shocked - her hand over her heart which was beating wildly fast. She uttered several curse words before she finally found some poise and composed herself. “What was that?” She pointed to the bedroom. “How long has this been going on for?”

“Er well…” Mira started.

“Maybe a while?” Zoey stammered out.

Rumi’s eyes narrowed. “Define ‘a while’. Weeks? Months?”

“Years?” Zoey said, avoiding Rumi’s gaze.

“YEARS?!” Rumi shouted. “What do you mean ‘years’?!”

“It kinda started out as an on/off thing - nothing official - some months after we started Huntr/x,” Mira managed to mumble. “Then we finally got serious about four months ago.”

Rumi had to sit down - it was just so much to take it. Several long minutes passed while Rumi tried to process what had just taken place. This was certainly something she didn’t expect. Sure, had she noticed that the pair of them may have been a bit more secretive over the last few months, yes, but this was not the reason she had been thinking! She had imagined that maybe they were working on a solo album or something and wanted to keep the surprise until it was ready.

“Rumi?” Zoey’s voice was gentle. “Are you okay?”

“Yeah,” Rumi’s breathing had gotten easier now than she had gotten over the initial shock. “Just why didn’t you ever tell me?”

There was a small awkward silence between the other two.

“I don’t know,” mumbled Mira. “We just assumed since it wasn’t anything serious in the beginning there was nothing to tell and then when it did, we just didn’t know how to tell you.”

“From now on, no more secrets?” Rumi held both their shoulders. “I know I don’t have the best track record with that but we need to promise, okay? Besides, I need to squeal over this. I cannot believe this!”

“So, you’re okay with this?” Mira gestured between herself and Zoey. “For real?”

“For real,” Rumi smiled at them. “Sure, am I mad that you guys hid it? Yeah, of course but I’ll get over that soon, I’m just really happy for you two!”

“In the spirit of telling the truth, you should know that we are in love and it’s not just a fling thing,” Zoey slipped her hand into Mira’s.

Rumi let out an excited squeal. “Oh, I am extremely happy right now.”

She then pulled them both into the biggest hug of their lives.

“Rumi…can’t…breathe…” Mira managed to get out.

“Oh sorry,” Rumi let them go with a small giggle.

Rumi smiled at that memory. It was a very happy memory for her but also maybe slightly traumatising due to the accidental walk in part.

“We had a group discussion about the relationship,” Rumi answered Nari. Maybe it wasn’t the best idea to say how she really found out. “They confessed to me that they were in love and it was the real deal, so of course, I couldn’t be happier for them.”

The crowd cheered at these words.

“How about the wedding announcement?” Nari asked.

“Well…” Rumi then launched into the story.

It was a beautiful day in Korea and Rumi was spending it lying on the couch, just chilling. Ever since Mira and Zoey left for their holiday, she had been more than just bored. Sure, they had invited her along but she didn’t feel like being a third wheel plus she had seen some of the brochures in Mira’s room and knew they had a very romantic holiday planned.

Rumi flicked through some of the channels on the TV, not really settling on anything in particular when her phone rang. When she checked the caller ID, she saw that it was Zoey calling. About time, she thought. She hadn’t heard a peep out of them for two whole weeks.

“Hey Zoey,” Rumi answered. “How’s Iceland?”

“Oh, it’s really beautiful,” Zoey’s voice said over the speaker. “Hang on, I’ll put it on video.”

Zoey and Mira soon came into view waving at the camera and Rumi waved back.

“Hey Mira, how’s it going?”

“Going really good,” Mira answered. “Listen we have some news we wanna share with you.”

“What kind of news?” Rumi was intrigued.

“Good news,” giggled Zoey.

“What’s the news? You’re keeping me in suspense here!”

“We got married,” Zoey and Mira sang together, holding up their hands to show two identical gold bands.

Rumi could have dropped the phone in shock.

“Married?” She managed to get out. “When? Where?”

“Yesterday,” answered Mira. “We found this amazing place and we were just like, oh what the hell, let’s go for it.”

Rumi’s mouth dropped open and didn’t speak.

“We can’t wait to show you the photos,” Zoey said in a sing-song voice.

Rumi managed to pull herself together at this and an intense feeling of happiness came over her. Her two best friends had found love and decided to make it forever lasting. She could have teared up then and there.

“Rumi, you okay?” Mira asked, obviously sensing some concern.

“I’m just so happy for you two,” Rumi managed to get out through her tears of joy.

The crowd looked on the edge of tears themselves when Rumi finished telling her story.

“The photos were exquisite,” Rumi finished with a smile.

Zoey watched and beamed at Rumi when she told her story.

“Which brings us to the wedding,” Nari said, looking at the two lovebirds. “You briefly mentioned it before but now we want even more dets. Tell us about it!”

“Well,” Zoey said before launching into her story.

She and Mira were standing on what could only be described as Zoey’s favourite bit of Iceland so far - the Dyrhólaey cliffs. It was just so beautiful to look at with the ocean waves below. Standing there, hand in hand with Mira, it felt like they were the only two people in the world. Well almost - Zoey spied a couple in the distance and it looked like they were getting married.

“Oh, you can get married here,” Zoey sighed as she rested her head into Mira’s shoulder. “This would be such an amazing place to get married.”

“It really would be,” Mira said, resting her head on top of Zoey’s shoulder.

“You would make such a beautiful bride,” Zoey said, not really thinking about what she was saying. “I would love to marry you here.”

“What?” Mira quickly said looking at Zoey who quickly covered up her mouth when she realised what she said. “You want to get married to me? Here?”

“I mean, I won’t lie, I have been thinking about it but if it’s too fast or you don’t want to that’s okay-” Zoey’s words just seem to tumble out of her mouth.

“ZOEY,” Mira started but she was interrupted by more of Zoey’s rambling.

“I know, I shouldn’t have said anything! I’m sorry!”

“Zoey!” Mira’s voice finally got through to Zoey who looked at her. Mira then suddenly got down on one knee which made Zoey gasp in surprise. “Zoey, you are the only person who has ever seen me for me. You make me happier than I could ever imagine. Will you marry me?”

“Yes!” Zoey squealed before throwing herself into Mira’s arms. Their lips then met in the most passionate kiss. “Can we do it here?”

“Let’s do it!”

However, they met their first real snag when they went to enquire with the right people about booking a wedding.

“The only available spot is tomorrow,” the person on the phone said. “We are gonna be closing for weddings for a while due to conservation efforts being made in the area.”

“TOMORROW?” The pair said together.

Zoey’s eyes met Mira’s. It was either get married tomorrow without their friends and family at their dream spot or wait for an unknown time.

“Should we?” Zoey whispered to Mira.

“Let’s do it,” Mira whispered back. “We can have another wedding with everyone when we get home. Let’s just have this for us two.”

Zoey was secretly glad that Mira responded this way. She knew that if they didn’t go for it now, they would regret it.

Zoey beamed. “Okay,” she said into her phone. “Book us in.”

The rest of the day was spent zooming around the local area looking for anything they needed for the wedding. They managed to find some cute wedding bands from a local jeweller who also happened to have a daughter for a photographer that just happened to be available. It was like the universe was coming together for their special day just for them. Neither one of them could find any decent wedding clothes to buy so they just said ‘what the hell’ and decided to get married in their tourist garb. It matched the vibe of the whole thing anyway.

That was how the pair of them found themselves on top of the cliffs, looking down at the ocean, hand in hand while a local celebrant conducted their wedding.

“Zoey.” Mira said, hand in hand with her, “You showed me what it is like to be truly loved and to be seen. I can’t believe how lucky I am that you chose me to be your partner in life. I promise to always be there for you, to always love you, to be that shoulder to cry on, to have and to hold as they say. I love you more than you could ever know and with this ring, I hope you see a part of that.”

Mira slipped the ring onto Zoey’s fingers - only barely as her fingers were trembling so much.

“Mira,” Zoey responded, tears coming down her cheeks as she beamed at the love of her life. “You are the best thing that could ever happen to me. You are the inspiration in my life, the music I hear, the partner to my crime, and I am so glad it’s with you. You are the love of my life. I promise to always be worthy of your love, strive every day to make you as happy as I am, to be there no matter what. You turn my Honmoon gold every single day I get to be with you. I love you.”

Zoey then took the other ring and slipped it onto Mira’s fingers.

“I now pronounce you wife and wife,” the celebrant said, beaming. “You may now kiss.”

Mira pulled Zoey in for the most tender kiss of their entire relationship. It made Zoey almost float in the air, it was so warm and cosy.

The crowd at this point was bawling at the story as was Nari.

“I think we can take an ad break,” she said. “We need to pull ourselves together!”

The rest of the interview went as one could expect and soon the girls found their way home. Bobby, of course, cried the entire way back. He couldn’t stop hugging Zoey or Mira.

“Oh, the Honmoon looks so much brighter,” Rumi pointed out once they reached the windows. “What a relief!”

“Yay, it does,” Zoey said, leaning into her wife. That was when she got an idea. “Oh, I’m reinstated!”

“Just watch what you post from now on,” Mira warned but with a smile.

“Don’t worry about me,” Zoey sang. “I will just send out a post to tell people to watch the show.” Zoey’s fingers flew across her keypad. “Hey guys,” she said, writing and speaking at the same time. “Please go watch KTV’s interview on Huntr/x and you’ll find out why Mira and I are no longer girlfriends. Heart emoji. Ring emoji. Annnnd send!”

“Zoey NO!” The other two said but it was too late, the post had gone out.

“Here we go again,” Rumi muttered as an influx of messages started to pour in.
