Summary
To the upper echelon, Aoyagi Toya is a boy who is closely tied to the Fujiwaras, the powerful political clan that gets to draw the line between life and death in the kingdom of Pheles.
But to the townsfolk who visit the clinic of renowned healer Aoyagi Harumichi, he is simply Toya, a shadow whose continuing education is a coveted golden ticket towards a better life.
