Summary
There are very strict practices around marriage and feminine virtue in regency era England. As a result, Viscount Edmund Bridgerton is tasked with deflowering the brides of each of his sons on their wedding nights. For the first two that marry off, he manages to complete the act with relatively minimal discomfort and confusion for all parties involved. With this third son and his newlywed bride, however, Edmund finds to his horror that his carefully constructed ritual falls apart almost immediately. He ends up experiencing a whole host of thoughts and feelings and sensations he wasn't prepared for when he beds Penelope Featherington, all of which have consequences that disrupt his mind, his soul, and the future of his family too.
