Chapter Text

Outside her window, was a sky that seemed so familiar to her. Yet it wasn't the sky she was raised to protect, the one she loved.

It had been almost a week since she found herself stranded in an unfamiliar world. She fell from the sky, hard. When she woke up a few friendly strangers had told her that she was in a school called UA. They monitored her movements for the first few days before concluding that she wasn't a threat and let her stay in the school for the time being as she had nowhere else to go.

She was lucky to have landed somewhere that safe instead of in a place with no protection whatsoever. But even so, she felt somewhat trapped.

They let her stay here but she was only allowed in places where students wouldn't frequent. They said that a bunch of their students had seen her crash-land and were worried for her. She wanted to ease their worries by showing them that she was completely fine now but the man named Aizawa said that it might be best to wait for a time where the kids weren't busy.

She understood that, she was a student once too. Exam week has always been one of the toughest weeks, especially when it comes to professor Anaxa’s exams.

She got herself ready for the day, heading out into the secluded garden which they let her tend to. Mr. Yagi often stayed by her side, giving her company whenever he wasn't busy. He was a kind man, helping her plant flowers into the garden beds. When she told him why she wanted a little garden she had told him of the Grove where she used to plant all kinds of things for her patients to make them feel at ease, he patted her head and gave her a kind smile, telling her that her patients must have appreciated her tremendously.

Today, it seemed he was busy, as the garden greeted her with a buzzing silence.

The garden was situated in a corner of UA high, a small cylindrical compartment with enough room to grow plants in, and a ceiling high enough for a tree to thrive. It had been planted here long before she had arrived, with benches overlooking its magnificence.

She overlooked the growing buds, recording all of the new things that have shown up in the soil into her notebook before tending to it. Making sure there were no weeds, watering the soil, making sure the sun was able to hit the seeds and illuminate the secluded area with its warmth.

“Oh? You're up early I see.” a voice rang behind her. It was Ms. Kayama! She has been so wonderful to her, always making her feel at home and helping her with anything she needs. Clothes, toiletries, you name it! She was also the one who explained to her what quirks were.

Apparently people of all kinds had different kinds of powers, some more common than others. Ms. Kayama’s quirk can put people to sleep. She believes that Ms. Kayama’s quirk is an excellent one, it’d help with easing any patients who are having trouble sleeping and not to mention her wonderful personality, she would make a great healer.

“Ms. Kayama, good morning!” She greeted her with a smile, to which she returned.

“I come by here every morning before my class starts,” she breathes in the air, “the air is much nicer than ever. Is this your doing?”

“Thank you, I’m glad that in the few days I've been here it has developed so much.”

“Youre like a miracle worker, is this your field of specialty?” She sat by the bench, opening the paper bag she held in one hand and offering a pastry to Hyacine, who took it graciously.

She shook her head, “No, no, I’m just a physician. Nothing more than a hobby of mine.”

Kayama took her answer and asked no more, instead she sat in the silence of the garden until she had to go to her first class. Waving goodbye to Hyacine who was still overlooking her garden.

These small moments have always been a pleasure on her busy schedule. Now they were mostly what she was, a small moment in someone else’s busy schedule. With nothing else better to do she decides that it was time to stretch and look beyond her garden.

When she spoke with Principal Nezu he had told her that she was always welcome into staff facilities if she was ever feeling lonely, noting that humans often feel the need for companionship and that it was not something to feel ashamed of.

She was going to take on that offer. Though, she was a little bit confused. The school was huge, she wasn't even sure which building held the faculty office or if they had their own separate dorm as a faculty room. She wandered through the halls of the large building that seemed to be the center of the campus, she had only been through the route from her dorm to the garden several times so everything outside of that is alien to her.

As she turned a corner a man with wild blonde hair saw her and approached her, his footsteps were wild. Kind of menacing in a way.

“Oiyaaa girl! Are you lost!?” The really loud man spoke to her in accentuated English while making exaggerated faces as he talked, she wasn't sure whether she should be intimated or laugh.

“Sort of yes..? I’m looking for the faculty room.” She explained to the man.

“Faculty room? But you're not a student are you?” He looked her up and down, her attire was simply too foreign to be one of a student and there was no doubt about it. She herself thought she looked out of place, she liked the clothes that Ms. Kayama had given her, but they just weren't the same as her own clothes. It wasn't just one of her last attachments to her world, it was her work wear too. Without it on she felt like she was neglecting her duties.

“No, but Principal Nezu told me that if I was ever feeling lonely that I should come to the faculty room.”

“The Principal said that..?” He pondered for quite a while before something hit him, “ah, you're that crash-landing girl huh? Well then you’ve crash-landed into the right person! Come with me, little miss.” He gestures to her to follow and gladly she does so. Now having a guide to take her to where she needs to be.

After a few wrap-arounds they stopped in front of a room, the doors were as big as all the others but they were much farther away from the other rooms. She must've missed this one as she had been on this floor a while ago, being unable to read the text in this world was such a pain, a challenge that she needed to overcome! The man opens the door and greets the people inside with a loud hello, she peeks her head inside and sees only a few people were there at the moment.

“Sorry, most of the teachers are out at the moment.”

“That's fine, I'm just glad to know where the faculty room is!” She’s a little disappointed not to see Mr. Yagi, but is nonetheless thrilled to have found her way to the room, memorizing the route into her mind.

“Did they not.. Did they not give you a tour?” He asked, he almost sounded offended for her but she brushed it off.

“Mhm, it's fine I can find my way around.”

“That won't do…” He pauses, “y’know what? I’ll give you a tour!”

“Really? That would be wonderful, thank you so much!” He grins at her. She was going to be able to see the rest of the campus.

“Before we go, why don't you introduce yourself to the staff who are here?”

“Right.” She steps into the room, all eyes now on her as the man calmed down and let her introduce herself. “I’m Hyacine, it's nice to meet you all. I don't know how long I’ll be around but I hope you’ll take good care of me.”

Those in the room greeted her with kind smiles and warm welcomes, her chest felt warm and for the first time since the moment she was here she felt like she had a semblance of something in her grasp. She bids them a farewell, not before saying that she will be back soon and would like to get to know everyone.

As they started to walk away from the faculty room the man introduced himself, “I'm Present Mic by the way, but you can call me Yamada!”

“It’s nice to meet you Mr. Yamada.”

“So you’ve been going around with the girl without even introducing yourself?”

“Oi, it's rude to sneak up on people. Be a good example.”

“It’s rude not introducing yourself. Be a good example.” Mr. Aizawa says, echoing the sentiment. He looks to Hyacine who greets him warmly.

“Hello, Mr. Aizawa It’s been a while!”

“Yes, hello.”

“Oh what's that about being a good example?” He ignores the man completely and faces Hyacine, “Ms. Hyacine, there's going to be a festival happening here at UA. if that's your kind of thing you're welcome to see it.

“Wasn't I supposed to stay away from prying eyes?” She tilted her head, she was now confused by what exactly they wanted her to do.

“Only being allowed to stay in one area is a bit of a pain. From what you told us you're not from here, so it would be good if you enjoyed yourself while you're here. And, this is the fruit of those kids’ labor, they’ll want you to see it too. And… outsiders will be allowed into the campus so you can blend into the crowd.” he adds, “but if you feel like the crowd is too overwhelming for you, you can stay by my side. We’ll go where you want to.”

“That’s really kind of you, but I don't want to get in the way of your work. As a teacher I know you're still busy during that time.”

He sighs and accepts it, before leaving he tells her that even if she says no his offer still stands. They wave him goodbye and they go their separate ways.

“He may not look it, but Aizawa’s always been a big softie, even if he doesn't admit to it.” Yamada smiles.

Concluding their interaction, Present Mic did well on his words and did in fact give her a tour. The campus was much bigger than she had expected it to be, he told her that other than her dorm there were several other dorms that spanned across the entire field of UA. It surprised her just how much land the school was able to gain and wondered if all schools in this world were like that. A few students here and there would walk past them and greet Yamada and her with a smile, Yamada assured her that none of the students in this field were Hero course students so she wouldn't get in trouble for interacting with anyone.

A few teachers greeted them in passing, probably to their next class. One of them was Kayama who gave Hyacine a big hug before running to wherever she needed to be.

He led her through training fields, showing her the one where she had landed in, a little sea area where she had thankfully been rescued from before she could drown. Mentally noting down to thank the person who got her out of the water when she finally meets them(and finally found out who exactly it was who did).

“Thank you again Mr. Yamada!”

“Anytime!”

Her tour concluded as the sun started to set, Present Mic had told her there was a lot more that was on campus that she could absolutely find on her own. She believed him when he said that. Most of what he had shown her were places that she wouldn't be able to access without a teacher’s permission while places like the cafeteria was something she can easily manage to find.

What an eventful day, she met so many new people and saw so many new things. It was all so different from how it all is back home, the rooms were built differently, they have special curriculums not even the Grove have, and everyone is so individualistic! It made it so much more exciting to explore the small new world she lived in. She couldn't wait for the festival.

That solidified her resolve. Since it couldn't be helped, while she was here she’ll make as many friends as she can!

The goal is to have this end at 3 chapter but who knows I might just make like one more chapter and then end it there
