Kaeya leaned closer into Albedo, both of them sitting on a floating platform barely large enough to hold the two of them. With the night sky as a backdrop, Kaeya found himself pressing even closer to Albedo as if the stars themselves were eyes gazing down at him.
"Kae, are you okay?" Albedo whispered, clearly not immune to the air of respect the moon and stars demanded.
"It's just… the moon's really beautiful, haha, I mean–"
Kaeya trailed off, allowing Albedo to play with his hair. "Yes, it really is." Albedo paused for a few seconds before continuing, "Kaeya, sometimes I wish I could bring down those stars and give them to you as a present."
"No need, I enjoy you more. But why are we up here anyway?"
"Mona told me there was going to be a meteor shower and I wanted to watch it with you."
"Well, as long as you're here…"
"Do you want to leave?"
"You wanted to see it with me."
"Answer the question."
"If it's okay with you."
"I wouldn't have asked if it wasn't. Hold on tight." Abedo snapped his fingers and the platform gently descended, bringing them safely to the ground.
He held Kaeya close, walking him home. "I'm sorry for bringing you up there when it made you uncomfortable."
"No, it's my fault. I'm a grown man… I should start acting like one."
"I don't, but you seem to enjoy my company regardless."
"Whatever, let's just… go home."
Kaeya's breathing slowed, wrapped up in a cocoon of blankets. Albedo slowly pulled away, freezing when Kaeya stirred and rolled around, as if looking for something. He tiptoed out onto the balcony, once again surrounded by the night and propelled himself upwards on a platform, alchemical ingredients in hand. "I had been meaning to include you, but if you'd feel better inside I'll do this myself."
The seemingly arbitrary, yet important items floated around Albedo as he himself began to levitate above the platform.
He began the words of his spell, stars seeming to fall the sky far above.
Waking up with his boyfriend no longer next to him wasn't exactly a rare occurrence, but it still made Kaeya a little unhappy. He climbed out of bed, looking to find where Albedo had gone, which wasn't very hard with the door to the balcony being partially open.
He gazed up in wonder, seeing the colorful display surrounding Albedo, almost like fireworks.
Albedo turned to him with a smile, holding out a hand reaching towards Kaeya which was quickly reciprocated. In the blink of an eye, Kaeya was floating next to Albedo, surrounded by the spell coming together around them in real time.
Just as soon as it had started, they both fell back down to the balcony, the remnants of alchemy softening the landing.
"Kaeya, did I wake you?"
"No, not really. You just weren't there to put me back to sleep."
"I made you this." Albedo placed a shimmering pendant into Kaeya's hand. "It should help you feel safer," he explained.
Kaeya clutched the pendant, seeing it glow a warm gold. The same color as Albedo's hair or the flash of light when he'd amaze Kaeya with a show of otherworldly power.
"Would you like to go back inside now?"
"If it's okay, I'd like to stay out here with you."
