Happy Windblume

Summary:

Kaebedo Week day 3: courts/interrogation | windblume

Work Text:

As Albedo made his way back to the lab, he still felt that strange prickle of someone watching him that had been following him all day. What a nuisance, he was never getting anything done at this rate. Sighing, Albedo steered off course and into an alleyway. The sooner he could get whoever was following him to come on out, the sooner he could get back to his original plans for the day.

"Come out. I don't have all day."

A moment later, he felt someone tackle him from behind. He prepared to fight back before realizing that it was just Rosaria. Hadn't she learned he wasn't a danger by now?

"Albedo, what do you want?" Her gravely voice barked.

"What do I want? You're the one who came at me out of nowhere."

"I mean what's your plan? What are you trying to do?"

"Currently, walking to my lab to check in on Sucrose."

"And how about Kaeya, you're just going to pretend he isn't here. What do you want with him anyway?"

"He… he's my boyfriend. So I'll leave the rest to your imagination."

"Enough distractions. I'll ask you this one more time, what do you want. In terms of physical items."

"Hmm, maybe I should spend more time with him. I guess I would want something to give to Kaeya for the upcoming Windblume. Something that he would enjoy."

"And what would you want him to give you?"

"Hmm, I don't really know. I like all of his gift ideas, so there isn't anything I want in particular."

"Whatever, you're free to go I guess."

Albedo stood up and finally walked to his lab, slightly confused but more focused on doing his work.

Albedo turned when the door to his lab swung open, revealing the man he loved.

"Albedo, have you forgotten what day it is?"

"What's so special about a day?"

"It's the first day of Windblume of course!"

"Oh, right."

"Are you okay?"

"Yes I am, it's just… I had a bit of a strange encounter that I'm still recovering from."

"(I told her not to…)" Kaeya muttered under his breath.

"What was that?"

"Oh, nothing. I had a bit of trouble thinking of what to give you, but I eventually settled on this."

Kaeya passed a wreath of flowers to Albedo. It was made up of mostly leaves and cecilias with a few handmade Dodoco and Jumpy Dumpty themed decorations along with chocolates mixed in with the vines. Kaeya put a hand behind his neck as Albedo looked over it. "I thought that… maybe… you would enjoy this and could also share it with Klee? (He's going to hate this)"

"Kaeya, that's… amazing. I love how you made those little Dodoco, Klee will love it for sure."

"Then why so downcast?"

"I…" Albedo sighed. "I didn't get anything for you, or for Klee. Give it to her, I'll… see you later…. maybe"

"No, you aren't going anywhere." Kaeya pulled Albedo into a big hug. "You are going to give me and Klee the best Windblume present… right now. Come on, we're going."

Albedo let himself be dragged towards Kaeya's chosen destination, which turned out to be Klee's solitary confinement room.

"Hello Klee, I have something very special to show you!" Kaeya let himself in, pulling Albedo with him and closing the door behind them.

Klee gasped in excitement. "Albedo!" She practically threw herself onto him, "I missed you so much!"

"Klee, I'm sorry for not spending much time with you lately."

"No, it's okay. Kaeya says you have a very important job and getting to spend any time with you is a pre… prev… priv… privilege."

"Klee…"

"Ooh, look what Kaeya has! Albedo, can you paint me and Kaeya holding it?"

Albedo smiled uncomfortably. He really needed to get back to work. "Sure, I would love to."

"Yay!" Klee cheered.

"Thank you, Albedo," Kaeya said, putting a hand on his shoulder, "I know you're a busy man, so this means a lot."

"Thank you both…" Albedo opened his bag of paints, any thoughts about going back to work vanishing. "Find a good position, I'm about to start."
