Work Text:
soph: hey, you free today? i need to talk to you.
biana: maybe after i go skating with fitz
soph: again?
biana: yeah he has work today!
soph: ok see you later…
Biana turned off her phone and shoved it into her bag. She could hear her brother attempting to do his warmup stretches in the lounge room, but Butler- his cat- seemed to be interrupting him, as she could hear him scolding the small cat.
“Are you nearly ready, Fitz?” She called out to him from her bedroom.
“Almost!” Fitz yelled back, before he let out a startled shriek and a crashing sound followed.
Biana laughed before she grabbed her sports bag and tucked her skates inside. She made her way towards the front door, grabbing the car keys on the way. “If you’re not in the car in five, I’m leaving without you, idiot!”
She shut the front door behind her and slipped on her shoes before walking over to her and Fitz’s shared car. She slipped into the driver’s seat and started the engine. Chucking her bag into the back seat, she waited for Fitz. Of course, she wouldn’t actually leave without him- Fitz knew that- but sometimes she was tempted to. The idiot took forever to get ready.
Surprisingly, it only took a minute or two for Fitz to get out of the door today, although his uniform was crinkled and hair messy.
“Did you get your bag?” Biana raised an eyebrow.
“Shit-“ Fitz quickly raced back inside to grab his own sports bag before returning and sitting down in the passenger seat. “Thanks, Bi.”
He chuckled sheepishly.
Biana rolled her eyes as she put the car into reverse and backed out of their driveway. They drove down their street, Flashback Crescent, before turning out onto Foxfire Street. They passed Foxfire College- the school they had attended from the age of 5 to when they were eighteen- and then took a left onto Legacy Street.
While they were driving, Fitz attempted to fix his hair, although he was failing due to the lack of a hairbrush.
Soon enough, they were pulling into the car park of Black Swan Skating Rink, the skating rink where Fitz worked. A couple of sketchy teenagers were hanging around outside, but Fitz and Biana ignored them as they strode inside. That was when they split up, Biana went in to find a table to set her stuff down at, and Fitz headed to the staff office.
Biana found a table close to the rink and sat down with her bag, pulling out her skates. She slipped her feet inside and tied the laces up. She glanced up and saw Fitz skating out onto the private rink- the rink where the instructors taught classes.
Biana wasn’t here for lessons, though. After her skates were secured tightly to her feet, she skated out onto the larger public rink. She had been skating for years- she started at the age of eight, although Fitz had started taking lessons at a much younger age. She glided smoothly across the surface of the rink with practiced ease. There were many children around and she had to try and be careful that she didn’t knock anybody over.
Soon enough, Biana felt a light tap on her shoulder, and she knew it was Fitz. She turned around, stopping herself to smile down at her short little gremlin of a brother. “Hey, Fitz. How was the class?”
Fitz shrugged. “It was the adult beginner class. It was…mildly frustrating.”
Biana laughed as she began skating again, falling into sync with Fitz. “Let me guess, all the ladies were hitting on you?” She giggled.
Fitz huffed, sounding annoyed. “Yeah. I’ve told them I’m not attracted to women- one told me to go to hell- but they’re relentless.”
“I-” Biana went to respond, but she wasn’t looking where she was going. She screeched as she almost went crashing into a small girl. In her panic to steer out of the way, she slipped backwards. She braced herself for impact against the ground, but a pair of arms grabbed her waist.
Biana glanced up and found herself gazing up into the warm brown eyes of her girlfriend, Sophie.
She laughed. “Hey, Bia.”

“You falling was hilarious!”
“No, it wasn’t!”
“It totally was.”
Sophie and Biana were debating over whether the situation was completely hilarious or not. Sophie was on Team ‘It Totally Was!’ while Biana was on Team ‘It Totally Wasn’t!” Fitz was just watching the argument with a smirk on his face.
“You could’ve told me there was someone up ahead, you know,” Biana pointed out to him, scowling. “You suck.”
“Maybe I do,” Fitz threw a crumpled up napkin at her, but narrowly missing.
Biana tossed it back, also missing. Like brother, like sister. They’d both never done ball-related sports, since they had never really shown an interest in them, so their parents had pushed them towards different sports. While Biana loved skating, swimming was still her favourite sport.
“Oh, Keefe is calling me,” Fitz stood up. “I’ll be back in a moment.”
“Yeah, yeah, shoo,” Biana laughed teasingly. “Go talk to your boyfrieeeeeend!”
As soon as Fitz was gone, Sophie turned to Biana with a serious expression. “Hey…I need to talk to you about something,” She said.
Biana frowned. “What’s up, Soph?”
“I just feel like we-”
Fitz came back, slumping down into a chair. “Ugh. Keefe has to stay on that work trip for another night.”
“Oh, you poor soul,” Biana laughed, but she snuck a glance at Sophie. What had her girlfriend been trying to say before Fitz interrupted them? She shook the thought away, focusing on the food in front of her- paid for by Fitz’s special staff privileges.
Sophie and Biana could talk later. Surely it wasn’t that important.

biana: how’d dinner with ur parents go
biana: haven’t seen them in forever did you say hi to them for me?
Biana: ..sophie?
Biana frowned. Sophie usually responded to her texts in a maximum of five minutes, but Biana had asked the question over an hour ago. The weirdest thing was, Sophie had marked all three messages as read. Worried, Biana attempted to call her. For about ten seconds, her phone rung but nobody picked up on Sophie’s end. Sophie was supposed to be heading back to her and Keefe’s shared apartment now…
But then, finally, she received a text from her girlfriend.
soph: sorry. busy right now. phone almost flat. talk to you later.
Talk to you later… Biana’s shoulders slumped in disappointment. Was Sophie really busy? Or was she avoiding Biana?

The next day, Biana was wrapping a small present for Sophie. It was the girl’s birthday soon, and they had always gotten each other small gifts in the weeks leading up to their celebrations.
Biana was refraining from checking the notifications on her phone, since she didn’t want to be tempted to text Sophie. After all, she couldn’t give any sort of hint that she was coming over today- it was a surprise! Once she had finished wrapping, she tucked the gift away into her bag. She then gathered up her belongings to head out.
“I’m heading over to Sophie and Keefe’s!” Biana called to Fitz. “I’ll be back in a couple hours!”
A muffled ‘alright’ came from Fitz’s room. Biana chuckled- who knew what he was doing in there. When she walked out the door, though, her expression became more serious. What if something was wrong and that was why Sophie had been so weird over texts last night. The journey to Stellarlune Drive was a silent one. Usually, Biana would play music or put on a podcast, but she didn’t. As she got closer to Sophie and Keefe’s apartment, she became more worried. Why? Was she really this paranoid over some late texting?
Biana stepped out of her car after parking it in the designated spot outside the apartment complex. The cold August wind was an unpleasant greeting, but she soon entered the complex and headed for the elevator. She clicked ‘floor 3’, the floor of Sophie and Keefe’s apartment. Strangely, when Biana lightly knocked, nobody answered. She frowned. Sophie was always happy for her to just walk inside, however, so that’s what she did. Biana pushed the door open, peering around for Sophie.
“Hey, Soph-” Biana froze, dropping her bag in horror at the sight before her.
Sophie was standing up in the middle of the living room, passionately making out with Keefe.
“No…no…” Biana stumbled back, eyes widening in realisation. Sophie had cheated on her. With Keefe- Fitz’s boyfriend.
Sophie pulled away from Keefe and saw Biana. “I-I- Biana!” She exclaimed.
Biana turned away from her, heart aching from the betrayal. She snatched her bag up and ran out, not bothering with the elevator, instead sprinting down the stairs. Tears sprung to her eyes as she flung open the glass doors to the complex. She didn’t get in her car- she was far too emotional for that. She just kept running.

Keefe was standing in the living room, staring at where Biana and then Sophie had ran out of the room. He touched his lips gently, then fell to his knees.
Sophie had pulled him in for the kiss. But he hadn’t resisted. He had barely returned the kiss, but he had liked the feeling…
Keefe sobbed. He had to tell Fitz. Or Biana would, and Fitz would never talk to him again. He reached for his phone with shaking hands, but he was already receiving a call.
From Fitz.
Terrified, Keefe accepted the call, and immediately Fitz was yelling.
“You’re a fucking bastard, Keefe! How could you!? You said you had an extra night of work. How could you fucking betray me like that!?”
“Fitz-” Keefe attempted to explain, to apologize, to do anything but just sit there like an idiot. But Fitz kept going.
“No. Don’t ‘Fitz’ me. We’re fucking done, Keefe Sencen. You have the audacity to cheat on me? I don’t ever want to see you again.”
Fitz hung up the phone.
Keefe cried.
