Work Header

Even a flame may be blown out by the breeze

Summary:

Fire Spirit doesn't know when it happened.

One moment she was in the Sacred Tree forest annoying her sworn enemy Wind Archer, next moment she was gripping a tree as ashes came out from her mouth in heaps. She was no fool to the disease that now raged within her.

She has fallen victim to unrequited love,
She was now doomed to die.

Hanahaki disease does not play with it's victims, it strangles and pulls what hurts most until a breath seems paradoxical.

Notes:

Work Text:

Fire Spirit scoffed.

The women before her wore a familiar mask of annoyance, her grip on the bow within her hold visibly tightening. Frankly, the women was beautiful, short hair at the top with a long braid in the back, two pearl white wings that were adorned with intricate sage green patterns, and best of all a matching and very evidently larger pair of wings that sat on her back. The women's eyes were emerald green, quite fitting to the gem that sat upon her forehead, as it also wore the same shade of said color. On her head two reindeer-like horns sprouted out, soft flowers decorating their stables. She was the embodiment of temptation to Fire Spirit,

The temptation to annoy, that is.

Fire Spirit grinned as the Archer's wings ruffled I'm annoyance, twitching as if she was displaying her adorable annoyance. The goddess of flames kept grinning, loving the way Wind Archer just keep getting more and more agitated at the 'kindness' Fire Spirit was displaying.

"Sooooo Windy?" She asked cockily, her own wings spreading as she presented the invitation "may I join you on your mission?" She smirked, taking Wind Archer's arms and kissing one of the hands, knowing the Breeze would get extremely pissed off at the act.

"Leave me be at once Fire Spirit. You are not joining me." She hissed through closed teeth, eyeing the women of flames before her.

"What! But Millennial Tree cookie said I could!" She complained, letting out an annoyed Huff. "Gasp! Are you going against your fathers wishes~?" She teased "never knew that was in you oh-great-loyal-wind" she smirked, watching the rage bait work perfectly. The women before her tightened her knuckles further, trying to control her breathing. "I'm gonna tell~~" she pushed the final button, green eyes snapping at her with rage.

"MAY YOU STOP? I KNOW YOU ARE LYING, MILLENNIAL TREE COOKIE ENTRUSTED ME ON THIS MISSION ALONE AND I WILL BE GOING ALONE." she gasped for air as she stared into Maroon eyes that filled with ecstasy. Next thing the Archer knew was boisterous laughter as the fire goddess petulantly laughed in the air, curling up as if a freshly-baked Cookie. She laughed until she wheezed, then proceeded to keep wheezing until the wheezing became coughing.

"You should have seen your face!" She kept coughing, now obviously unable to laugh anymore, she began to wipe some stray tears "the Wind Goddess fell so easily for rage bait! It's like the jokes write themselves!" She looked up at Wind Archer who quite genuinely looked ready to kill her.

"You are pathetic" she hissed, taking a deep breath "you are not joining me." Wind Archer finished, making a somewhat sarcastic turn before heading away. She heard the obnoxious familiar figure behind her keep mocking the women, causing said women's wings to shuffle with annoyance.

"I bet you he has already agreed~" she giggled, looking at Wind Archer who scoffed. The red one was truly starting to piss her off, and you know what, she will entertain these jokes if it gets the other to fuck off, for now that is.

"Fine then, I bet you he didn't" she smiled back, although hers very obviously displayed her annoyance.

"Game on Windy!" Fire Spirit laughed, grinning ear to ear.

-

"My father, please, don't tell me you actually said yes???" Wind Archer pleaded, eyes wide open as she stared at the man before her who somehow still held a gleeful smile.

"You always talk about how Fire Spirit needs to learn how to do her duties, I believe this mission will grant you the perfect conditions to do such!" He offered, still, somehow, smiling.

"Exactly! I will listen and aid her in every way I can!" Fire Spirit replied innocently, her tail curling in on itself. She ignored the way Wind Archer stared at her as if she just killed a new born.

"Then that is it, please Wind Archer may you accept?" She had to, she couldn't say no to this man, she couldn't allow herself too.

With a sigh, she nodded "come here at dawn" she finished, continuing to eye her.

"Then you are both dismissed" he clapped, still smiling, still filled with glee.

This was going to end horrendously.

-

Fire Spirit arrived at the Dragon's Valley with victory spelled out over her face via a grin.

She chuckled as she landed, her wings folding back behind her as she stretched, yawning a little. In her mind, it was a successful day, she managed to rage bait her rival to the point of yelling like a petulant cookie, a win. She went into the volcanoe's caverns, going to the specific cavern in which she resided. Maybe she should wear something else for the mission? But the outfit already on her was nice, to be fair, it fit her like a glove, changing would be a hastle. In the end she simply decided to change her earrings, going for some more practical ones that would aid her if she were to fly or run. Maybe she may change her outfit later, who knows, she had till dawn. She chuckled, dramatically swishing her flames and remaining mortal hair around before she suddenly felt the urge to cough.

It was strange, the Fire Goddess hasn't coughed ever since she became immortal. She was somewhat confused by this, why was it so sudden? Why did it feel painful? She simply let it be, watching as some ashes came from her throat. Strange, maybe that charcoal she ate earlier didn't fuel her flames well? Oh well, who cares, she was thriving now why should she worry. She whistled a tune as she walked around the cavern, deciding to purposely put on the one necklace she knew Wind Archer hated. It was a gold chain, frankly quite large, with an even larger dragon pendant that would always rest exactly where her breasts would begin. She liked to wear it because whenever the Archer would even try to examine it with her eyes Fire Spirit could immediately call her a pervert and tease the woman to annoyance.

She found herself thinking about Wind Archer, kicking her legs absentmindedly. Now that she thought about it, the women was beautiful. She had toned arms, beautiful emerald eyes, the softest hair, large, stunning wings, a cute not so little feather tail, a- did she just catch herself daydreaming about her? Daydreaming about her sworn rival, now that's dangerous. She simply ignored the thoughts, brushing them away as if there were nothing.

She felt the need to cough once more, this time it came more painfully as a small drop of blood followed the ashes. She decided to pay no mind to it, whatever it was it would succumb to her flames and heat soon.

Or so, she foolishly decided.

-

Wind Archer was quite frankly furious.

She practically screamed as soon as she got back home, banging her hands on the desk before her before getting a death-grip on her bangs. Why did her father so easily allow the Ember to join her??? Why??? She could have easily done everything on her own! It was a simply mission to go take care of some darkness blooming in beast yeast! She banged her hands on the table before shoving herself against the couch, letting out grumbled and frankly pissed off groans. She clawed at her face a little before sighing, this wouldn't do anything about the fact the Fire woman would be accompanying her on the mission, this was simply some silly was to take out anger and it was useless.

Her wings shuffled, going to cover herself as she became a feather cocoon.

The woman's hair would not aid them at all! It would be a dead giveaway of their location! This was all gonna go to shit and she just knew it! She knew it! The woman would do something stupid to piss her off then bam! They are dead. She didn't trust Fire Spirit with the ability of actually being a partner in this.

She let out a sigh as she opened her wings again, looking up at the ceiling.

May all go well.

-

It didn't help that Fire Spirit had clearly worn her dragon necklace.

It was an obvious symbol of how she didn't take this seriously. It was no mystery that the fire had a wardrobe of witches know what, and more obviously that she enjoyed showing it off, hence not surpring Wind Archer to see two matching tight sleeves going down her arms to her fingers, making a somewhat glove at the end. Now that she thought about it, the actual cape portion had been removed as well as the two piece component of her original outfit. Usually she would wear a bathing suit and some very high socks as Wind Archer would put it, all accompanied by a pair of thin heels. This time it was a body suit, although hip windows now replaced the original gap between her bathing suit and socks. She found herself staring at the hip windows, they revealed a lot more of the beautiful red skin the woman possessed. Looking up more the boob window was gone, replaced by some actual armor. Yes the dragon necklace was there but this time it was more a decoration, although excessive, she liked the fact Fire Spirit was actually putting effort in. Now that she looked closer the earrings were replaced with smaller ones, clearly for faster movement and agility. Overall the woman had clearly for once dressed for the occasion, making Wind Archer feel a somewhat sense of respect.

She found herself respecting Fire Spirit's choice of outfit for once.

"Earth Bread to Wind Archer?" A high yet somewhat husky voice pulled her out from her thoughts, the women now looking straight into her face. Wind Archer jumped back, her head wings spreading in intimidation before they went down again, now staring at a giggling Fire Spirit.

"I'm here, I have been" she sighed "we should leave now, you ready?" She asked, raising her eyebrow a little. The woman before her looked gorgeous, yet she still found herself looking at the hip windows, the skin looking so soft, almost as if it had been molded for the Breeze.

"Absolutely! Fired up and ready!" She chuckled, the flames on her head bursting a little. Wind Archer hit her with a slight smile, shaking her head before starting to spread her wings. Before Fire Spirit could react she was up in the air.

"Get up here slow poke!" She teased a little, albeit it was fun to watch the firey one get competitive, her large dragon wings spreading wide before she bursted from the canopy. "We head east now, the flying will likely take a few hours are you ready?" She asked.

"I already said, I'm fired up and hot!" She let her flames do the bursting thing again before she looked at Wind Archer who was shaking her head before she pushed forward with her wings, making the breeze carry her. She noticed very quickly how Fire Spirit intensely flapped her wings as to get ahead, laughing like a maniac.

Maybe she could entertain this, just a little.

A strong gust of wind pushed Fire Spirit backs dn behind, a beautiful scowl filling Wind Archer's ears as the firey woman hissed and complained. "You are acting like a dragon" she teased, knowing exactly how the latter reacts like to being compared to her kin.

"Excuse me?? Say that again I dare you." She hissed, clearly mad. Maybe Wind Archer liked this so-called rage bait Fire Sprint kept using on her.

"You act like a dragon, exactly what I said" she shrugged nonchalantly.

"Oh you little-" a strong gust of wind pushed said dragon back, causing her to yell at witches know what as she fell behind.

Wind Archer liked this.

-

By the first hour Wind Archer has heard every groan and moan the Fire Goddess could produce, clearly and quite dramatically acting like she will pass out.

By the second the woman had calmed down, now quietly flying by the other's side. Wind Archer noted that she kept coughing, sometimes it would be borderline violent as if she was trying to get something out of her throat, strange.

By the third she felt Fire Spirit staring at her, yet whenever she would look the latter would look away as if it was nothing or tease her, strange again.

By the forth they had to take a break, Fire Spirit's coughing was actually becoming concerning, yet she kept pushing away Wind Archer, saying it was nothing.

strange.

-

She knew what it was now.

She knew EXACTLY what it was. It was hanahaki disease, she noticed it when she coughed up a fucking forget-me-not somehow. She didn't understand how flowers could bloom in her firey body yet they did,

Just like her love.

"Fire Spirit are you sure your alright?" The latter asked, concern plastered over her face as Fire Spirit returned to the small camp they made with blood dripping down her chin like a waterfall.

"Pssssshhht! Yeah! Why wouldn't I be? You think some blood has every stopped the all powerful fire guardian!" She chuckled, flicking her hair. Wind Archer was genuinely confused and concerned, she had found a couple of bloody petals around the campfire, strange.

They went to sleep that night in one bed, although both taking opposite sides as they slept. Wind Archer knew that Fire Spirit spent a good five or so minutes staring at her before she turned over.

Everything felt very, very weird.

Strange.

-

The string broke when Wind Archer watched Fire Spirit vomit a whole fucking flower, like a whole one, stem and everything. She has never seen such a sight before, and she most certainly wasn't going to take it as nothing.

"Fire Spirit may you actually tell me what the fuck is going on!" She yelled as she picked up the rose stained with the fire goddesses blood, as beautiful as the flower was it's origins came from pain, from something very deeply wrong. Somewhat like Fire Spirit.

"I'm alright I swear!" She yelled back, getting up and wiping her mouth. She felt her heart break a little more as the women before her seemed genuinely concerned. She couldn't let her know though, she couldn't, the rejection would be too much.

"Fire Spirit this is no joke, it's a whole flower you just coughed up" she hissed. The fire guardian kept laughing, shaking her head.

"It's whatever! Let's just get going already!" No it was not whatever she felt her flames lowering by the minute. She knew this would end bad, maybe it would be best to get the surgery as soon as she got back. Yes her feelings may go but that would be for the better? Right? Whatever she just has to hold it in a little longer.

Understanding that she can't convince the other to actually cooperate she let out a somewhat disappointed sigh, shaking her head. Maybe it would all go well, maybe this was just a small illness as Fire Spirit was making it out to be.

Only time will tell.

-

It only got worse, as they were fighting off the darkness she noticed Fire Spirit fading in and out of consciousness, gagging as flowers fell from her mouth once in a while. She decided to ignore it now, if Fire Spirit said she would then she will, she trusts the women, surprising as it is really.

It was a rather small patch of darkness as Wind Archer would say. Only a few corrupted spirits And a cake hound or two were purified into beautiful doves. She looked over at Fire Spirit now who seemed to be on her knees, coughing up more petals. She decided to ignore it this time, instead going to pick up one of the newly-purified doves that didn't fly away.

It's wings seemed charred, it was unable to fly now, it was obvious why. It had accidentally gotten in the way of one of Fire Spirit's fireballs, practically burning it's feathers off. It wooed in pain within her arms, spreadings it's wings across them as it seemingly glanced up at her. It's feathers were a soft white, almost pearl-like, it's overall form was delicate yet strong and sturdy, large wings spread against her palms shower such. She noticed one of the burns had been on it's lower back, some blood seeping from the burn as it continued to coo. She frowned, ripping off a piece of her tunic before wrapping the doves body with it, watching the burnt and darkened flesh be covered by a light green fabric. It quickly soaked the blood, some red seeping through the light colors. She slowly stood up, walking over to a nearby tree and setting the dove into it, listening to it coo as if thanking her.

She turned around to see Fire Spirit, face stained with blood once again although this time it was obviously somewhat cleaned up a little. Now that she thinks about it, Fire Spirit somewhat reminds her of the dove she was just taking care of. They were both in pain, both unknowing of what happened but only one reached out for help, only one asked for aid. The thought made her frown a bit as she shook her head, addressing Fire Spirit once more.

"Yes?" She asked, raising an eyebrow. She noticed the women's legs shaking a little even as she was floating up in the air. The sight was not pleasant.

"Shall we be leaving?" She asked in a more huskier voice, very contradictory to her usual boisterous and loud one. Wind Archer chose to ignore the thoughts this time, letting out a sigh.

"There's a bird right here, one that needs aid, may we wait till tomorrow? I want to make sure it at least lives through the night." She stated, watching the fire goddess nod before she went back to the rock she was sitting on, just turned around now. She took a moment to examine Fire Spirit a little more, her flames were most definitely lower, her posture was very uncomfortable, and her wings... Her wings. The thin membrane was a little... Torn on the left wing, some blood seeping out. That was definitely not a good sign. She knew though if she asked she would be met with the same "I'm alright" as before, so this time she didn't.

Her wings shuffled a little as she came up to the women, noting her horns seemed... Smaller as well, thinning perhaps. She carefully took some of the now thinning strands of mortal hair the woman had and began to braid it quietly. At first Fire Spirit jumped, whipping her head around to see the other. Upon realizing it was in fact her, she calmed, turning back around.

For the first time in what felt like forever Fire Spirit didn't vomit flowers for an hour. She simply sat there, a soft purr being released as she allowed her hair to be fondled with. Slowly yet surely, she began to drift off into sleep, her resting against the other women's chest as she gently massaged the fire goddesses's jawline, smiling. She looked so at peace now, allowing Wind Archer to take every detail of her face more closely now.

She had a small dimple on her left cheak, the little thing popped out ever so slightly. She had the iconic face markings every guardian had, hers far more sharp and extreme, similar to the flames she guarded. Wind Archer's were more flowy, representing the calmness of a summer breeze. She liked the womans more, they represented her so much better, somewhat mirroring her whole personality. She gently brushed her fingers over the face crest that formed on her face, taking in items unique beauty. Yes she may also have one but something, something about the way Fire Spirit's features all blended in perfectly together, it made her beautiful. She traced over a small patch of scales on her face, noting how they glimmered like fire opals beneath her fire.

She noticed the dove from earlier had now come to her side, cuddling up between her and Fire Spirit, clearly enjoying the earn the of their shared bodies. She could grow to like this, frankly she was enjoying it right now.

She allowed herself to slowly drift off to sleep, gazing at the woman before closing her eyes, allowing the euphoria that followed rest swallow her whole.

-

The morning was peaceful, Fire Spirit had stopped coughing, somewhat, but it wasn't vomiting any more. She ate some charcoal and has overall seemed better, it all made Wind Archer happy, happy to see the women feeling better. They left early that morning, Wind Archer had built a small best for the dove high up in the trees, leaving it with some water and seeds.

The breeze felt like a breath of fresh air, allowing her to somewhat even glide across the sky. She was making sure the breeze was especially strong on Fire Spirit's side, the women was clearly slacking off behind her. Maybe it had to do with the hole in the membrane of her wings, who knew.

Frankly, Wind Archer didn't of all cookies.

The hours of flying closely mirrored the previous ones, except Fire Spirit was clearly slacking more, her panting being very obvious in the quiet air. Wind Archer began to wonder if the hole had been caused by a cake hound, maybe while she was coughing up more petals it had lunged at the sensitive thing, the thought made sense, so she asked Fire Spirit.

"Why does your wings have a hole?" She looked at the woman who got a little surprised at the sudden question, a familiar grin spreading across her face.

"I had been caught off guard for a moment, a cake hound attacked it. It's a very sensitive part of me, so it quickly ripped." She explained. Somehow the question fueled one of Fire Spirit's yapping sessions, leaving her talking like the world would end tomorrow. "So the scales act like protection for the skeletal part, I actually have a few scale patches throughout my body! If I had been a higher-part dragon my skin would be scales, similar to Pitaya, but luckily such didn't happen." She giggled "then the membrane is actually the main way how I fly! It's like a parachute! That's why the hole is affecting me so much, think of it like a hole in a parachute." She finished, a genuine smile on her face. Wind Archer found herself staring at the woman, admiring her quietly.

Maybe she could get used to this Ember.

-

The hours passed by in a haze, within no time Wind Archer was landing on the floor of the Millennial Tree forest and waving goodbye to Fire Spirit, an actual smile on her face for once. The conversation they ended off on was a positive one, Fire Spirit even somewhat flirting with her. She knows it was in a platonic sense, the fire goddess knew she didn't like women.

She chuckled softly at the thought of her, walking to where her father would usually reside in a almost dream-like state. She would be seeing Fire Spirit tomorrow for a picnic in the Sacred forest, right in the spot Wind Archer oh-so loved. Before she knew it she was before the Millennial Tree, bowing.

"My father, I have come back with great news, the mission was a success." She lifted herself back up again, watching Millennial Tree cookie form himself from the roots below him. He smiled at the news, putting his hands together with glee.

"I am glad to hear such uplifting news, how was Fire Spirit?" He asked "I'm sure you both made a great team." Yes they did, they most definitely did, but not with the given circumstances. She didn't know wether or not she should lie to her father about the flowers, about the fatigue, about the injuries. She would hate herself if she were too, so she immediately spilled the truth.

"Fire Spirit has been coughing up petals and flowers the whole mission, her right wing also got injured by a cake hound. We were a good team, yes, but she had some sort of fatigue due to the flowers, do you have any idea what it could be?" She asked curiously.

"No, I don't, maybe you can check up on her some more throughout the next few days? Maybe her condition will get better" he replied, trying to seen positive. "I am glad you two make a good team though, sure she wasn't as annoying as expected hm?"

"Definetly, although I was expecting for her to be a distraction she ended up being quite nice to be around, I appreciated her company." He smiled again, nodding.

"Great, well then I assume that is all for now?" He asks curiously, seemingly in a but of a rush.

"Yes, that is all for now" she finished, noting how her father began tapping his foot.

"Goodbye then my Breeze, tell Fire Spirit I hope she gets well soon" he smiled before adding on "and if possible, next time you both meet, may you tell her to come talk to me later in the day? I want to discuss some guardian issues." Wind Archer nodded.

"I will be on it father, adieu to you" she bowed before leaving, having the old tree left there all alone and quiet. He let out an agitated sigh, rubbing his temples.

Just by Wind Archer saying flowers he knew what this was, he knew what was coming. Fire Spirit had somehow, somehow managed to get hanahaki disease. This could all end horribly to be frank. He would need to discuss this sometime with her, specifically how she plans to deal with it. Time is limited now, he may actually go visit the Dragons Valley himself at this point, the matter was very serious after all.

But for now his help was needed elsewhere, leaving the old tree to return back to his purest form.

-

Fire Spirit arrived back at the Dragons Valley in bad condition.

Her wing had broken further, membrane thinning more. She sighed softly as Pitaya stood behind her wrapping the wing in bandages, lecturing her or something. She didn't really care, just standing there quietly as he talked about witches-kmow-what. Probably lecturing her about not taking good enough care of her wings or something, who knows.

Not that she did.

-

The picnic was beautiful, Fire Spirit had decided to bring some "real" food as Wind Archer would call it, a salad it was. She knew her friend was vegetarian and would rather kill herself than accidentally make the woman eat meat. That would be too rude. She noted how Wind Archer had decided to wear a flowy dress, a thin lining of frill lace at the bottom. The dress had embroidered flowers scattered amongst it, one big notable one right on her chest. She looked like a goddess, all her hair had been let down and she simply looked so relaxed for once, bringing this feeling of sanctuary and relaxation to Fire Spirit. She herself had chose to wear a body suit of hers again, this one althiugh was just a bathing suit put simply. It lacked her usual boob window though out of respect for the other, knowing she didn't approve of the choice.

The picnic was calm, at some point Fire Spirit managed to hold Wind Archer's hand. The feeling in her throat died down, the flowers retreating back to the depths of her lungs. It was a nice feeling, one she much appreciated after vomiting a flower earlier. She knew the disease was getting bad, that her time was running out, but was she so selfish to just request a little more time with the woman? A little bit more time before it all went to shit was all she needed.

The Breeze told her of how the Millennial Tree had requested to see her too which Fire Spirit agreed to without hesitation, biting it would likely be important. Just like that the picnic was over, Fire Spirit almost wanted to kiss Wind Archer as she left but held herself back from such.

Maybe someday.

-

"Millennial Tree cookie, I heard you requested my presence?" She asked, entering the clearing where a massive tree towered over everything else, from it came a being, one she recognized. His thin yet sturdy arms and the halo-like horns on his head clearly stated to all that he was the one and only Millennial Tree.

"Fire Spirit." He said with some haste, sighing "I have heard about the flowers." She paused, looking up at him as if he was schizophrenic. The last thing she needed was someone figuring out what was happening and the Millennial Tree was not one of those people she wanted to have. "I know you have hanahaki disease, and I am here to ask you a question based on that."

"Go on...?" She asked, her form wavering with uncertainty.

"How do you plan on getting rid of it." He asked simply yet sternly. Sighing as he cupped her cheek.

"I wish to die." She replied, watching as Millennial Tree tried to say something but stopped himself, looking away. "And yes, it is Wind Archer cookie I love." She made sure he now knew why. She was the straightest of the guardians and sure as hell no Fire Spirit would ever change that.

"Are you sure...? What about surgery?? Fire Spirit, please, you mean a lot to me, I do not wish for you to die..." He tried to reason but was met with a wall of silence.

"I cannot live knowing I once loved her, death will be my peace." She stated sternly, looking up at him as she watched him sigh, nodding his head.

"If that is what you wish, then I will not stop you. But please remember all you will loose" he tried to plead one final time.

"I will, and I'm sure they will be better off without me."

"Very well, farewell my flame"

-

She hit the floor of the Dragons Valley coughing, the hot obsidian feeling strangely painful as her lungs felt like they were giving in. She knew this was it, that this would be the end. It all came so fast, three short days and here she was, laying dying on the Dragons Valley floor, pathetic.

She clawed at her neck, unable to breath as she sobbed. She could feel her flames lowering by the moment without oxygen, a flame without wind will falter.

And so was she.

She tried to breath now, unable to, her vision blurred out as she watched a green figure land near her, immediately run over to her body. She picked her up, tears forming at her eyes as she yelled something, something Fire Spirit couldn't recognize. Her eyes were fixated on the women's beauty as she let out a final smile and chuckle, reaching up to cup her face.

"I love you, my breeze"

It all went dark after that as a flower pushed it's way out of her mouth, blooming so beautifully over her dead body.

-

Wind Archer was confused to find Millennial Tree depressed.

He stood before her clearly deep in thoughts, and clearly said thoughts were not positive. He kept tapping his foot, under the weather it seems.

"Father, what is wrong?" She asked quietly, walking up to him slowly.

"Fire Spirit... I'm... Listen my dear, I'm sorry I've hid this for so long but I cannot keep it hidden any longer." He breathed deeply "Fire Spirit is dying, like. Now."

"What-" she started but was quickly hushed.

"Go find her. Now. Before it's too late."

And so she did, before he could finish she was flying to the Dragons Valley, landing on the hot obsidian. Before her laid a Fire Spirit, clearly going in and out of consciousness before her. A grin plastered itself over her face as Wind Archer picked up her stiff body, tears running down her cheek as the other coughed slowly.

"Fire Spirit! Are you alright??? Please are you with me??" She shouted over and over as if the woman could hear her. It was soon obvious that she was gazing at her, still grinning. She cupped her face slowly as a flower became visible in her mouth, slowly mumbling for all of Earth Bread.

"I love you, my breeze."

The flower sprouted out of her mouth as she went limp, looking at the now sobbing Wind Archer in those final moments.

And a grin kept itself on her face.

She loved her. She fucking loved Wind Archer. How had she been so stupid? She also loved her, she could have fucking prevented this, how dare she not?

In a desperate attempt at something, who knows what, she kissed the ashes, sobbing as she only felt a cold shell kiss her back. She was gone now, Fire Spirit was gone now, all because she had been too cowardly to admit her love.

All because Wind Archer was too cowardly too admit hers.
