Work Text:

   “I’m a terrible leader!”

Pin dashed quickly into the kitchen, disheartened of the outcome. Her entire team failed to complete the challenge, and as a result, one of them had to go. She believed that her leadership had been poor the challenge before, which had let Robot Flower onto the team and lead them to disaster.

Seeing teammates she had already held dear and cared for already be at risk of leaving made her feel like she’d let them down. Was she too careless with her leadership? Was she unable to do anything for her team to the point where she was useless?

She took a deep breath. Everything will be fine, she thought, trying to keep herself in check. Even if we lose a member, it won’t stop us. It’ll all work out.

She slumped onto the counter, frustrated. It felt like nothing was working. Whether she wants to or not, she’s gonna need to pick herself back up for the next challenge.

“Pin?” Gaty asked with concern, peeking the door open to check on her. “Are you okay?”

“I’m…fine,” Pin replied, avoiding Gaty’s gaze. “Don’t worry about me.” The fact that Gaty was even looking at her, let alone bothering to care, was surprising; she’d just impaled her in the face! How could she forgive her that quickly?

“Are you sure? You don’t seem too happy,” Gaty responded, slowly stepping into the room. “Do you want to talk about it?” She grabbed some ingredients so she could bake with Pin to hopefully help regulate her.

Pin sighed, clenching her fists. “I let my team down! Last challenge, I didn’t plan ahead, and because of my own oversights, we lost.” She started preheating the oven. “If I hadn’t jumped too quickly to a plan, then Robot Flower wouldn’t have killed our chances of safety.”

Gaty started greasing the cake tin. “Was it really your fault?” She asked, pouring the flour into the bowl. “None of us knew Robot Flower was the prize; it’s not your fault because of that.” She gave Pin’s hand a squeeze. “Nobody’s blaming you for an oversight we hadn’t known about.”

Pin started getting the rest of the ingredients in the bowl and mixing it. “But I-“

Gaty finished mixing the batter and put it in the oven. “Shhh. It’s not your fault," she said. “Maybe you need a change of scenery.”
