Zira couldn't help but stare at Aika.
They even had a concrete plan for when she looked back at them,
Just turn away.
If they do it in time, then maybe she wouldn't notice the dumb look Zira just knows they have on their face right now.
They just.. feel it whenever they look at Aika.
Like they're doing something wrong.
Messing everything up for her.
“Zira?”
Aika’s voice went all soft again.
They didn't like when she talked like that.
All because it made them feel loved to a certain extent.
“Whuh—?”
“Do you think that if I went outside with a cup, then the rain would fill it up so I could drink the water?”
“No. You would just get sick. And soaked. And get water all over the floor when you come back in.” Zira answered.
A laugh from her,
A laugh that they've grown to love.
“Yeah, you're right! But still, guess what?”
Aika took her hands off of the window, jumping right onto the sofa,
“Even if this was my house, Hoshi would still be super super mad if I did soak the floors.. They're always so set on making sure I don't wreck things! I don't know why..”
“Yep, I have nooo idea..”
Zira mumbled.
Being around Aika felt crazy.
Chaotic.
Crazy good.
Thrilling, heart pumping chaos.
Such a bright light, just entering her life and making things better for her almost instantly like it's nothing.
She always felt a little dull before the girl had come along.
Maybe her mother's advice was right.
‘The right people come to you naturally,’
She always said.
Immediately upon looking down, she was greeted with.. Aika.
It's just Aika.
It's Aika.
Laying on her.
Don't freak out don't freak out don't freak out don't freak out-
“Aika what are you doing?”
The words tumbled out fast, and she sounded stupid and nervous.
It's not like she isn't those two things at this moment.
“.. Do you want me to lay down somewhere else?”
“No! Nonono! You can.. stay here.”
Stupid.
“Good. I was gonna stay here ‘cus..”
A yawn,
“I’m tired.”
Is she really gonna fall asleep on them?
Literally on them?
“Uh, yeah. Okay.”
Zira’s words came out quiet.
What else was she supposed to do?
Aika’s going to sleep on her.
She nearly pinched herself to see if it was real.
“You're great.”
It wasn't the first time she had heard something like that from Aika.
“Why?”
She didn't mean to say that.
Not in a rude way,
“Why do you think so?”
Maybe she shouldn't be asking this to a tired Aika.
“Because you're good..”
Another yawn.
“Really good.”
Nope.
She's lying to make them feel better.
Zira nearly passed out on the spot when Aika laid on her lap.
Now it's the compliments.
“You're so… cool. And you have a really pretty smile.”
Nothing came out but a squeak.
“I feel happy around you. You talk a lot, but it's really, real… cute..”
Why is she saying this stuff?
Zira is not that great.
“Aika, that's literally just not true-”
“Yea it is! I dunno why you get so mad and embarrassed when I say nice things about you.”
She knows they're embarrassed.
Can they just.. disappear?
Why is she lying to them?
They always feel like she is when it comes to compliments.
The time she told them that their homecoming dress looked beautiful.
Not even good.
Beautiful.
Is making losers swoon also one of her magical abilities?
She could only dream of Aika’s self confidence.
So compassionate.
So sweet.
Zira’s nothing compared to her.
“You have nothing going for you, and that's really cool.. I wish nobody bothered me all of the time. I just wanted to be normal..”
Her hand reached for theirs.
“I wanted to run from it. From everything.
A sigh,
“I wish I was successful in doing so.”
It probably isn't the best idea to say anything.
No words came to mind regardless.
Aika must be lying.
She has to be.
Aika’s better than her.
Way better.
“... Aika? Do you–”
She wasn't even awake anymore.
She was holding their hand.
Sleeping on them.
Gently, she moved Aika with her.
Just a little adjusting….
And yet, that was enough for Aika to get a death grip on her.
Does Aika really want to be near her?
Or is it just pity.
How does Aika have such a wide capacity to love?
