Work Text:
"We beat you Anan." War smirked, eyes taunting the other. "How about that?"
"Don't worry shortie, we'll get the next game." Yin kept his cool, already used to the after-game banter with the smaller man.
"You're too cocky for someone who's still in second place this season." Yin briskly stepped closer to War, leaning down so their faces were only inches apart.
"Of course, I know I'm good."
Their respective teams snort as they pass the coaches who were still leveling each other up with stares, not even slightly bothered by the scene.
"Will you two sit down like adults or will we continue this cat and mouse thing you have going on because the crew is ready?" The MC questioned, rolling his eyes when the coaches pull apart and he spots Yin handing the War a towel and a bottle of water. "Seriously."
---
The two finally settled down and the interview started, questions about the game, their teams and their strategy followed one after the other.
"Now, lesser known fact about you two is that, you're both married."
The pair nods, mirth clearly visible in their eyes.
"So sorry to all of Coach Anan's fangirls and fanboys, he's very much taken. You'd all be very surprised to know that he's one very whipped man." War teased, looking over at Yin who only shrugged casually.
"Coach War also lucked out on the spouse department, 100/10 great guy."
The MC huffed, resisting the urge to smack the pair. "You're married to each other, shut up."
"Everything I said still stands, Anan is very whipped." War widened his eyes at the camera, gesturing wildly at the other coach who was busy looking at him fondly. "See?"
"I can't argue with that. However-" Yin pointed at War. "I cook for him because for some reason he can't cook when I'm around, can't even turn on the stove-"
"HEY!"
"It's true love, don't even argue."
The crew grows quiet and the pairs' eyes widened when they realized why.
"Pet names huh?"
War hit Yin's chest, prompting the other to hide a laugh at his little slip.
"Erase that from your memory everyone." War turns a pleading eye to the crew. "Can we cut that out."
"Please air it." Yin interjects, catching War's hand before it could hit him.
"Anan Wong." War growls but Yin pays him no mind, idly intertwining their fingers and hiding it from view.
"Yes?" Yin smirked at his husband, the smirk that he knows the other hates but also secretly loves. "I don't get to call you that in public often."
"For good reason."
"What's the reason? Disrespecting the single community?" One of War's players hollers from the sidelines, followed by a chorus of snickers from their teams.
"I'm making you run a hundred laps, laugh about that." War calls out and the laughter instantly dies, replaced by whines.
"You're brutal." Yin jokes, internally cooing at the pout on his husband's lips.
"They have to deal with it."
The MC clears his throat, getting the attention of the couple.
"Back to the interview-" He looks at them closely. "How does that work? Everyone knows you're rivals?"
"Work is work, our team is our team. We keep our personal lives strictly separate from the court, it's not the easiest thing in the world but it's also not that difficult when you're both willing to adjust."
Yin nods. "Compromise is the key and a lot of patience."
"Games are a lot more fun when you get to irk your husband at home." War laughs. "It's like supporting different sports teams but more intense and more hands on. We enjoy the friendly competition."
"War especially." Yin says seriously. "His competitive streak is-"
"Is? Watch your next words."
"Adorable." Yin smiled at his husband then mock whispers to the camera. "Sometimes scary."
"You're going to need to find something after this interview."
"What's that?"
"A new husband."
"Love."
"Just in, Coach Anan single again!"
After more banter that made the MC and the crew feel like they were air, the interview got back on track.
"About competitiveness, who's more competitive between the two of you."
"War." Yin replied without missing a beat. "I love him, really I do but he's scary."
"You know what, I won't even defend myself. It's true."
"Do you ever let him win?" The MC asked Yin curiously.
Yin was about to shake his head but reconsidered. "In formal games, absolutely not, we're not husbands when we're inside the court and he would probably hate me if I try to lose. On other things however-, let's just say it's very 1hard to say no to him."
"He's whipped." War pressed, but the telltale twinkle in his eye was enough to tell the viewers that he adored the other just the same. "As he said formal games are formal games but I do let him win from time to time. He gets really happy when he beats me on video games so I let him have that."
"I'm just better at you in video games."
"Sure you are."
"Want to bet? Loser has to bring snacks to the other team for a month."
"Deal."
A chorus of whoops could be heard from the stands as the couple shakes on the bet, the MC watching them in amusement.
"Better get your wallet ready Anan." War whistled. "I'm going to get my team free food from your bank account."
"We have a joint bank account."
"Semantics."
"Lastly, a very pressing question since no one has any idea how you two ended up together. Can you atleast tell us who liked who first?"
Yin looked at War, a smile tugging at his lips and his fingers still holding the other's warm hands on his own.
"Coach War definitely."
"Lies, it was you." War defended. "I knew you had a crush on me."
"I'm still saying it's you."
"We can agree to disagree then."
"So who was it?"
"Him." Yin points at War.
"Him." War points at Yin.
The couple bursts out in laughter, War's head leaning on Yin's shoulder.
"I guess we'll never know." The MC sighs.
"Maybe someday."
"Not today though."
"Definitely not, it's a long story, one for another day."
END.
