Love comes in many forms and manifests itself in many ways but perhaps the simplest kind of love is the one we hold closest to our hearts. The one that never needed any explanation, that love was the purest one of all.
Love is love.

"That can't be how it ends!" The young man protests, looking up at the knowing eyes of his father. "They're meant to be together, why is his mom so cruel?"
"Bud, that's just how life is, sometimes you don't get your happily ever after in high school."
"That's not fair."
The elder man sits closer to his son, pinching his cheeks with a gentle smile.
"Are you feeling any better?"
"No. Your story sucks papa."
"You're still young, life doesn't end in high school." The elder pulled his son close. "Love doesn't end in high school."
"But it hurts."
"I know it does. And it will continue to hurt but that's part of growing up. Learning to choose your happiness and learning to live with pain."
"But the boys in your story, they didn't choose their happiness. They never confessed."
"That was one of their biggest mistakes. But remember, not everyone is on the same boat, some people need courage and others-" The elder spared his son a look. "-others are scared of what their family would think."
"What happened to them? Did they never meet again?"
"That's a story for another day bud. You need to rest and your papa needs to go back to bed."
The two people inside the room turn to the door where another man was watching them closely with a fond smile on his face.
"You heard your dad."
"But-"
"I promise you'll know how their story ends okay?"
"Okay."
The young man hugs his papa and received an affectionate squeeze in return.
"Don't think too much about love bud, it will come at the right time."
"With the right person."

The husbands laid back in bed, tangling their legs together under the covers.
"Is he alright?"
"Yeah, he's just experiencing feelings for the first time and he doesn't know how to deal with it."
The taller man pulls the other to his embrace, nuzzling his nose on his neck.
"I can't believe we have a teenager. It felt just a second ago when we were teenagers ourselves."
"Teenagers who were stupidly inlove too."
"My son is in love?" The taller gasps, prompting a laugh from his husband.
"Well atleast he thinks so."
"Should we be worried?"
"No, our seventeen year old hardly needs us messing with his lovelife. Besides, I don't even think we're qualified to be talking to anyone about high school puppy love."
"Oh why is that?"
"Dew, I could barely confess to my crush."
"Your crush was pretty awesome."
Best wacks his husband's head, making him groan.
"What? I was."
"You could hardly tell me liked me too."
"To be very honest, it's because you always knocked me off my feet everytime we met."
"Smooth."
Dew pulled his husband closer, smiling at his favorite scent.
"But we got it together, we got married and had a kid. I think we're pretty qualified."
Best opened one eye to glare at his husband.
"You're so lucky I still love you."
"I know I am. You're the best thing that ever happened to me and I would go through all that again."
Dew placed a soft kiss on his forehead.
"Again and again, if it meant I could have you in my arms like this every night."
"Just every night?"
"Still so cheeky. Fine, I'd have you in my arms all day, do you want to?"
Best laughs, wrapping his arms around his husband.
"We have a teenager and jobs, I don't think we can."
"But if we could, will you?"
"I can't believe I dried out my tears ducts in high school crying for you."
"Because you love me."
"Yeah I do."
Love doesn't end in high school, fate will always find a way.
