Ms. Juliet Claudia Higgins, of London, England, and Commander Thomas Sullivan Magnum IV, United States Naval Reserve (retired), of Detroit, Michigan, celebrated their wedding with family and friends at the windward estate of author Robin Masters on Saturday, June 28, 2025.  The celebration was preceded by a small civil ceremony this spring.  Both events were officiated by Detective Gordon Katsumoto of the Honolulu Police Department and Universal Life Church.

The bride, 40, wore a sleeveless gown with a subtle white-on-white plumeria inlay by designer Tori Richard.  She was attended by Ms. Teuila Tuileta of Honolulu, attired in a floral patterned dress by Reyn Spooner, and canine companions Zeus and Apollo, 9, well-behaved in Hawaiian-print bow ties.

The groom, 47, was attended by the former Major Theodore Calvin, United States Marine Corps, of Charlotte, North Carolina.  Both gentlemen were attired in tuxedos tailored by Mr. Darren Wong (1610 King Street, by appointment only.  Call 808-867-5309 for inquiries).

The couple elected for rings of polished steel, forged from items in CDR Magnum’s family collection.  The rings were brought forth for a ceremonial submersion and blessing in seawater by Master Jacob Nuzo, 13, and Miss Joy Wright, 3, both of Kailua.

Catering and music were provided by the former Sergeant Orville Wright, United States Marine Corps, of Chicago, Illinois, now proprietor of La Mariana Sailing Club.  Floral arrangements were designed and provided by Suzy Madison Creations.

Commander Magnum is the son of the late Lieutenant Thomas Sullivan Magnum III, United States Navy, and Mrs. Katherine Magnum, both of Detroit.  He graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 2001, served several combat tours in the Navy, and is currently an entrepreneur.  Ms. Higgins is the daughter of the late Mrs. Caroline Stafford of London, and Mr. Stephen Higgins of Manchester.  She graduated from the University of Cambridge in 2007 and was previously a public servant.

The couple met at work in 2018 and were engaged this past holiday season.  Following a honeymoon in the British Isles, they plan to continue their residence in Waimanalo.

Notes:

I've always thought the announcements section in the New York Times (and certain institutions' alumni newsletters) is hilariously pretentious, and basically just wanted to see if I could write something in the same tone.
