Work Text:
He couldn't sense anything. He used to, not anymore.
Nexus isn't sure if that's better or worse.
On the one hand, he doesn't have to witness himself hurt the people he cares about.
On the other hand, he has no clue if they're still alive, or if he's alive. He thinks he is, but he isn't even sure who he is anymore.
He hopes they're alive.
He wants to go home.
What is home again?
Home isn't home anymore. Home doesn't need him. Doesn't want him. He only hurts home.
Is home a person? He can't remember.
They don't need him, even if they did let him come back. He only existed to be a way to healthily cope with Moon's absence.
He remembers seeing a few glimpses of a Moon model. Maybe they brought him back, or just replaced Nexus like they did Moon.
Is he allowed to care if he was replaced?
No, he isn't. He hurt them. He deserves this.
Silly Moo- Nexus. Such an idiot thinking he's allowed.
BadbadbadbadbadbadbadbadbadBADBADBADBAD!
The witherstorm seems mad. Is that good? Nexus thinks it is.
Why is he thinking again? He shouldn't think. Thinking leads to fighting back. Fighting leads to pain. Pain hurts. He doesn't like hurt.
But he deserves hurt. Hurt is punishment. He needs hurt. Needs to fix it.
What is he fixing?
His body thing -what is he again- pushes against a thing. He doesn't know what the thingies are. But doing the thing immediately caused hurt.
Hurt is good. He keeps going, needs to fix the thing.
What's the thing again? Needs to fix it. But the thing causes ache in his core, and aching is similar to hurting. So is the thing good?
He should keep the thing.
The thing causes the pain that will fix the thing! He could go back to home if he fixed the thing!
Nexus remembers home being mad before the witherstorm. Kept hitting him and making loud sounds, didn't let him explain.
What was there to explain?
Home was a very angry ghost, he remembers. Home had goggles and these triangle things, like home!
Are there two homes? He doesn't deserve two homes. Can't go back to homes.
It hurt. Everything was too bright and loud. Something was happening, Nexus wasn't sure what though. There was something really angry.
It kept destroying stuff. He couldn't move, and there was a glowing line connecting him to the thing.
He was forced to watch the thing destroy stuff.
He needs to fix it, what if homes gets mad that the dimension is destroyed?
But he can't.
He slowly fell out of consciousness as the thing destroyed more stuff.
There were a bunch of people that came in through a glowing circle thing. Somebody thinks he used to know what it was called. He doesn't anymore.
They were saying a bunch of things. He forgot what most of it meant. He heard something about hunting.
They had these weird machines and weapons.
Maybe they knew homes!
He couldn't say anything, and they didn't seem to notice him. They walked right past him.
The string stung soon later, but Somebody lost consciousness before he could figure out why.
The string was gone, as well as the sounds of destruction. Somebody thinks that's good. He could move around, but there was nothing to explore anymore.
The people and their machine thingies were still around though. He latched onto one of them right before they opened another of their glowy circles.
This place looked different. There were more people and machines. His machine was locked in a room with a bunch of other machines.
He didn't get to say hi.
More people came into the room occasionally, grabbing machines and leaving with them. After a few days the machines would be put back.
Somebody wasn't sure how long it had been, but eventually someone grabbed his machine.
They went through one of those circles, and suddenly they were somewhere new. He saw someone who looked just like home, but they weren't home. They looked panicked and worried though.
There was another thing in the background, destroying stuff. The person holding his machine started heading towards the thing. Maybe they also wanted to die?
He felt the machine warm up before it did something, Somebody wasn't sure what, that hurt the thing and also forced him to release the machine.
The impact knocked him out.
There was too much noise again. Somebody thinks home-imposter was trying to speak to him, as well as a blue guy that looked familiar. Does that mean they could see him?
What if he hurt them?
He tried to move away as they scanned him with a weird device. Everything was still too blurry, but he saw them make a glowy circle.
They were both pointing at it, and saying more words, so they must hate him as well and want him to leave.
Somebody managed to push himself through it, and he was suddenly covered in colorful balls.
It took a bit, but he managed to get out. Why was this place so familiar? If it's familiar, he must have hurt it as well, so he should leave.
Somebody had found a broken animatronic in a dumpster that he had been able to possess like the machine. Except he could move around and control it, so it was better.
He didn't deserve it, but he was only going to use it to find homes and make sure homes were ok, then he would leave it.
He had a tiny black hat on his head, and it felt right to have something on his head, but Somebody felt like it should be different.
It was fine, he deserved it.
There was another glowy, a green person with weird glasses who looked familiar coming out of it. Somebody didn't know why he was scared, but the sight made him scared.
The gator ran off, muttering something about fixing someone. Is home hurt? If they came from a glowy that must be because Somebody hurt them. So he's a problem.
He followed the gator around. Surely they would lead him to home and he could make sure home was safe.
Problem had to wait, but the scary person eventually opened another glowy. Surprisingly the green person didn't notice him following, instead running into a big block thing.
He doesn't remember what they were called, but people lived in them, so home must be in there!
Problem managed to look through a clear thing in the thing, immediately noticing home. Home seemed to be acting weird, did he hurt home?
If he hurt home, home must not want to see him.
Problem ran before he was seen.
Problem hadn't realized he needed to charge. He's stuck, unable to move much in the middle of a forest. There was another blocky thing nearby, so maybe they could help him.
He knows he shouldn't hope for anything, he's better off dead.
There were bugs crawling around inside of him. He wanted to cry but the low power mode wouldn't let him.
He thinks he could exit the body so he isn't in low power mode, but he doesn't remember how to.
What was home doing here? Why was he with the blue person and the scary person? Problem tried to pull himself closer so he could help, quiet garbled static escaping him, but his efforts weren't noticed. He gave a muffled whine as the three left to go to the cabin.
Problem weakly thrashed, claws damaging himself further.
It didn't help draw attention even as home walked past only a few feet from the bushes he was in later on. There was another person with him and the others, none of whom noticed Problem either.
He gave a weak whine as he curled up into a ball, hugging himself and any of his residents currently inside right before his borrowed body finally ran out of power.
