Some Scars Heal With Time

Summary:

Lee Jihye and healing

Notes:

This is my first ever fanfic. I don't usually post what random rambles and ideas come to my head but I notice the criminally rare amount of Lee Jihye centric fics and I had to post this one

It feels incredibly out of character, even to me but I gave up

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

■■

It would be graduation for Lee Jihye.

Lee Jihye wasn't a complicated person. She doesn't think that far ahead. The goals on her mind would be the closest thing to look forward to at the moment. And just before the scenarios began, that thing was graduation. Lee Jihye wanted to graduate and finally be over with the hell they called school.

That was back then. Lee Jihye would have preferred to be in school now compared to being in the scenarios but it doesn't matter what she wants. What happened has happened and now here Lee Jihye stood with her diploma.

If you had asked Kim Dokja what subject he thought Lee Jihye would major in, he wouldn't have been able to answer, because that wasn't touched upon in the story. Lee Jihye would only ever receive a high school diploma.

The closest thing to a major he thinks Lee Jihye would pick however, was music. Lee Jihye loved music. If you had asked the friends from her old school, they would all agree that Lee Jihye would probably become an idol after graduation.

It wasn't strange. Lee Jihye's voice wasn't anything to scoff at. Couple that with her love for K-Pop and her admittedly beautiful face, it seemed very possible and even the most likely option.

Kim Dokja also thought such a career path fitted her. So he was more than a little shocked when one day Lee Jihye applied for college at a second rate college with a major of her choosing.

Psychology.

The whole party didn't even expect her to want to go to college and thus were all stunned when she revealed what major she applied for. They were even more stunned when they saw that Lee Jihye, who was not known for her studying prowess, actually got in.

Perhaps it was luck, or perhaps she worked hard. She had somehow passed the graduation exams.

And now the girl stood in front of them with a bachelor's degree in psychology.

They weren't disappointed, no.

Perhaps Lee Jihye belonged in an office talking to people. Lee Jihye who was bright and lively, Lee Jihye who was sociable, Lee Jihye who was always conversing with someone during recess.

Perhaps she would be right at home where she can talk to people.

Shin Yoosung sat in the former swordswoman's room. The older girl was tapping her pen against her notebook. Who knows whether she actually digested any information from it or not. It's still surreal that she took psychology to Yoosung.

"Unnie?"

"Yes?"

"I...have a question..."

The girl seemed delighted at the distraction and turned around, placing her pen down.

"What is it?"

...

"Why did you take psychology?"

Silence fell upon the room as Lee Jihye stared at Shin Yoosung. She turned around after a bit.

"There are some people out there... Some people I want to help..."

"A doctor who dedicated her life to saving those she cared about and many others."

"A woman who eternally swore to be someone else's sword, plagued by nightmares of the people she's slaughtered for this purpose."

"A shield that protected many lives but never really got protected himself."

"A woman who overworked herself to the literal point of collapse for her colleagues."

"A young boy who was left alone in a subway to be dropped at an orphanage."

"A young girl who was set to become a catastrophe but changed that path and instead protected the people she loved."

"A woman who wrote a story endlessly for just one person."

"A man who regressed more times that I have ever lifted a sword."

"A man who's so self sacrificial that even if the universe had bestowed him a thousand extra lives, it wouldn't have been enough."

"But most importantly to me.... There is a little girl out there somewhere, whose friend gave everything up for her. She's there, hurting and feeling like she doesn't deserve to still be alive. She thinks she needs to somehow compensate for her survival by saving others. She's insecure of her abilities and tries to overcompensate it with false confidence."

"... I'd like to help that little girl heal someday."

Notes:

"Even now, she was worried about others. No matter how badly she was hurting, she was always thinking of other people's pain first. Lee Jihye from Chungmuro grew up like that. And she grew up into an adult like that too."
