Summary
“She held her hand steadily on his chest, her resolve ironclad and unbending, she kept him at a distance. His heart thundering under her fingertips, felt like a crazed bird slamming relentlessly against its cage. Oh, yes he was furious, but this is what she had wanted, his anger, his rage, out in the open like an oozing gash, gnarled and raw. She didn’t have to wonder if his fury matched hers, in a sick way it felt like they were comparing scars. Maybe they actually were?
“You show me yours and I will show you mine?” It felt like they were little kids daring each other to enter the haunted house, but they were not kids and those scars ran deeper than an ocean and they were both counting their blessings.”
Sakura had learnt three harsh lessons.
Firstly you couldn’t really see the truth, before telling a lie.
Secondly, you couldn’t live without being touched by death.
And thirdly…you couldn’t realise how precious something was before losing it, before you watched it slip through fingers, hopes and dreams. -
