The alarm blared in Kiara's ears, jolting her awake from her already very unpleasant string of nightmares she had been having that night. Her anxiety and emotional state as of recent did not help in any regard, and here she was, with only three hours of sleep, and being woken up already. She clutched onto her pillow as she squirmed, struggling to even open her eyes.
Kiara struggled to awaken this morning in particular. She was not certain if this was due to her last rap battle being as draining as it was, or if she simply needed more rest than usual. Her blue eyes winced as she slowly reached over to turn on her lamp, her body aching more than her already sore body usually did. As she sat up, she wrapped an arm around her pained abdomen, groaning. "Gee..." She mumbled to herself as she considered her pain. "It's been so many months, and it seems like Tricky's still knocked the wind out of me..." She shivered as she remembered the long battle with the zombie clown that left her shaken up for several weeks even after the fight was long over and done with. She cracked her back as she got up with a groan, ready to take on another day, and another very likely rap battle. After all, this was the situation she always found herself in. Despite the fact that she and Luci were finally together, once in a while, she found enemies finding her regardless for the most preposterous of reasons, each more ridiculous and out of this world than the last. It was only a matter of when and where this would happen next. However, her disgruntled expression curved into a confident smile as she remembered something. She knew she could get over anything as long as Luci was with her! Whatever was thrown at either of them, they both handled the situation together, with great confidence, too! Nothing could throw them for a loop as long as they were together. Unfortunately for her, as she finally stood up with this uplifting notion in her mind, she felt a terrible dampness in her pajama bottoms. Her smile faded once again as she cringed, considering what this could be. "Don't tell me I wet the bed..." She groaned. "Please tell me I didn't wet the bed...I'm twenty years old, I couldn't have..." She looked down to not see a yellow stain, but a red stain instead. Even worse. "Darn it!" Kiara cried out angrily as she rushed to the bathroom. "Darn it, why did it have to happen now?!" She looked for pads and tampons to no avail, finding the last ones having been used last month. She groaned and rolled her eyes, knowing she could not go shopping on Sundays, and her favorite blue jean shorts were at the terrible risk of being absolutely destroyed by her functions. She had to do something, and she had to do it now. She could not ask her mom, older sister, or even younger sister for help, she moved out recently and now lived in her own apartment, far away from all of them. She could not even consider asking Carol and Sunday, despite both living next door as housemates, as she did not even want to begin imagining how embarrassing that would be for both her and them, let alone her ex-girlfriend Ayana and Ayana's now girlfriend, Dahlia, of whom were living in the same apartment building during this time. ”What do I do..." She groaned to herself, pacing anxiously as she considered her options. Once again, she had failed to think before she acted, and she was now in a situation she did not know how to get out of. Right on the day of her date with Luci, too… Wait. Luci! Now knowing the possible solution, she pulled out her phone, dialing the woman she loved so much. Despite feeling awkward and embarrassed in her situation, she knew that there was one woman she could always rely on, even in the toughest moments, such as this one. She placed the phone to her ear as she nervously waited for Luci to pick up. As awkward as she felt doing this, she knew this was her best chance of fixing her unfortunate predicament during this moment. She bit her lip until she mercifully heard the beautiful voice speak. "Hello, dear!" Luci chimed on the other end. "Is everything alright?" "Uh...Luci..." Kiara bit her lip, nervous to speak. "Are you okay, dear? Is this about the date?" Luci questioned before Kiara shook her head. "No, no, not the date!" Kiara looked around. "Well...About a different kind of date, really..." Kiara could swear she could somehow hear Luci's eyebrow raise from behind the phone. "Kiara, what are you talking about?" She questioned, before Kiara decided it would be the best option to simply cut to the chase. "It was due today, I decided to ignore the date, and now, it's here." Kiara tried to convey this to Luci, who went silent on the other end. "...Kiara, please rephrase that." Luci requested, making Kiara groan in displeasure. “My monthly friend has arrived and she's angry!" She tried to rephrase, only to be misunderstood once more. "You mean your penpal, Ronnie?" Luci asked, quizzically. "Did you two fight or something?" "Her name's Rosie, not Ronnie, but no, not her, we've actually been closer as of recent." Kiara shook her head. "I mean, the curse is here." "The curse? Has that wizard's magic rubbed off on you?" Luci questioned again, Kiara buckling her knees in frustration. "No, I mean Aunt Flo has visited!" Kiara tried once more, trying to get the message through. Unfortunately for her, this was misunderstood once more. "I thought your aunt's name was-" Luci began, though Kiara, now desperate, finally erupted with what she wanted to say. “I'm on my period, I'm out of pads and tampons, and I need help!" She cried out, as embarrassing as it was. There was a silence on the other end before Luci began speaking. “Why didn't you just say so? I'll be there in a bit with everything you need, and that's a promise!" Luci chimed, bringing a smile of relief to Kiara's otherwise desperate face. “Thanks, Luci, you're a lifesaver!" She cried as she hung up the phone, lying on her bed, not intending to go anywhere until Luci came. Only fifteen minutes later, Luci arrived through the door of the apartment, a very pleasant surprise for Kiara, who ran over and hugged her, albeit carefully so as to not disturb the amount of bags she was carrying during this moment. "Luci!" She cried, happily, as the brunette woman hugged her best to the best of her abilities. Kiara looked up towards her. "Did everything work out?" She asked. "Did you find the...You know..." She looked away, embarrassed, responded with a smile from her girlfriend. "All of that, and more!" Luci chimed happily as she handed over the bags, which contained not only the products requested, but plenty of Tylenol, the ice cream Kiara always favored, pillows, blankets, and even an adorable blue cat plushie which matched her hair! Kiara happily picked up the contents with a huge smile. “Thanks, Lulu!" She hugged her girlfriend, her girlfriend giving her a kiss on the cheek in reply before she ran to the bathroom. “Anytime!" Luci called with a smile, happy to have helped her girlfriend. *** An hour later, both women sat together, watching the movie both of them loved very much, Kiara wrapped in one of her new blankets, comfortable as could be in her situation. As a matter of fact, she found herself troubled by one more thing, and turned towards Luci to pacify her. "Luci?" She asked, softly, as Luci gently pushed Kiara's blue hair, of which was messily tied in a ponytail as it always happened to be, out of her eyes, her hazel eyes meeting Kiara's blue ones. "Yes, Kiara?" Luci asked, cocking her head. "This won't effect our date later, right?" Kiara asked, Luci giggling in reply. "Sweetheart, nothing could get between us! Not even a force as cruel as Mother Nature herself!" Luci laughed along with Kiara, who looked into her eyes with a big smile. "I love you, Lulu." "I love you too, Kiki.”
