Dancing Yoshi

Summary:

Yoshi does a dance which causes his moves to win

Work Text:

Today there was a dance competition happening, and Yoshi was one of the star performers. He had been preparing for weeks, perfecting his moves in the privacy of his lush, green garden. The sunlight filtered through the leaves, casting dappled shadows on the ground as Yoshi practiced his shuffling and moonwalking. His tail swayed rhythmically, and he hummed along to the beats of *Black or White* by Michael Jackson. The air was filled with the scent of blooming flowers and the faint rustle of the wind, creating a serene backdrop for his rehearsal.

Luigi, who happened to be passing by, paused at the garden gate. He tilted his head, his Brooklyn accent thick with surprise as he called out, “Yo, Yoshi! What’s goin’ on here? You’re dancin’ like nobody’s watchin’!” He leaned against the fence, his gloved hands resting on the wooden slats, and watched with wide eyes as Yoshi executed a flawless spin followed by a smooth glide backward. “I didn’t know you had moves like that, man! You’re killin’ it!”

Yoshi stopped mid-step and turned to Luigi, his cheeks flushing slightly under the compliment. “Oh, hey, Luigi! Just, uh, tryin’ to get ready for the competition today,” he said modestly, scratching the back of his head. His voice was soft but laced with excitement. “Gotta bring my A-game, ya know?”

Luigi stepped into the garden, his oversized boots crunching on the gravel path. “A-game? Bro, you’re bringin’ the whole alphabet!” he joked, his voice light but genuinely impressed. He crossed his arms and tilted his hat back, squinting at Yoshi. “You’ve been holdin’ out on us, huh? When did you turn into Michael Jackson’s secret protégé?”

Yoshi chuckled, his tongue flicking out briefly. “Nah, I’m just havin’ fun with it. Dancin’ makes me feel alive!” He demonstrated one of his tail-shaking moves, his hips swaying effortlessly to an imaginary beat. “What do you think? Too much?” he asked, a hint of nervousness creeping into his voice.

“Too much? Nah, it’s perfect!” Luigi exclaimed, clapping his hands. “The crowd’s gonna go wild for this. You’re gonna steal the show, no doubt.” He paused for a moment, then added with a grin, “But don’t tell Mario I said that. He might get jealous.”

Yoshi laughed, his tail swishing playfully. “Don’t worry, your secret’s safe with me.” He glanced at the sky, the sun now high overhead. “Guess I better head to the venue soon. Don’t wanna be late.”

Luigi nodded, slapping Yoshi on the shoulder in a friendly gesture. “You’re gonna crush it today, Yoshi. I’ll be rootin’ for ya from the front row.” He winked before turning to leave. “Good luck, man! Or should I say, break a leg—but not literally!”

Yoshi waved as Luigi disappeared down the path, the sound of his brother’s Brooklyn accent still echoing in his ears. He took a deep breath, feeling a mix of excitement and nerves as he headed back to his house to grab his gear. Today was the day, and he was ready to give it his all. The dance competition awaited, and Yoshi was determined to make it his rhythm nation.

Mario, Peach, Rosalina, Daisy, Toad, and Mallow, along with Toadette, were walking through Yoshi’s garden when they heard the faint beats of *Black or White* by Michael Jackson drifting through the air. Curious, they followed the sound and found Yoshi in the middle of his practice session for the upcoming dance competition.

Yoshi was in full swing, his feet gliding across the soft grass as he shuffled effortlessly, his tail swishing in perfect rhythm. He transitioned into a flawless moonwalk, his green scales glistening under the sunlight. Then, with a playful grin, he launched into his signature tail-shaking moves. “Hip Swing Express!” he called out, leaning forward and swinging his hips with a confidence that made everyone stop and stare. “Tail Whip Whirl!” He spun around, his tail creating a blur of motion that was both hypnotic and impressive. “Sliding Sway!” Yoshi shifted his weight smoothly from one foot to the other, his movements fluid and precise. Finally, he ended with a dramatic spin, striking a pose as he shouted, “Final Spin Flash!”

Mario’s jaw dropped. “Whoa, Yoshi! When did you learn to dance like that?” he asked, his voice full of surprise and admiration. Peach clasped her hands together, her eyes sparkling. “He’s incredible! I had no idea he had moves like that!” Rosalina smiled softly, her cosmic aura glowing faintly. “There’s more to Yoshi than meets the eye, isn’t there?” Daisy nodded, clearly impressed. “I’d hire him as a dance instructor in Sarasaland if I could!”

Toad and Toadette exchanged excited glances. “He’s like a dancing machine!” Toad exclaimed, bouncing on his toes. Mallow, who had been quietly observing, tilted his fluffy head. “How does he make his tail move like that? It’s like magic!”

Yoshi noticed them watching and stopped mid-move, his tongue flicking out in a sheepish smile. “Oh, hey, guys! I was just practicing for the competition. What do you think?”

“Think?!” Mario exclaimed, clapping a hand on Yoshi’s shoulder. “You’re amazing, buddy! You’re gonna blow everyone away!” Luigi, who had just caught up with the group, nodded vigorously. “Yeah, Yoshi! You’re a natural!”

Peach stepped forward, her smile warm but teasing. “You know, Yoshi, the last time we saw you dance like this was at that party. Remember? The one where the DJ asked you to pick the songs to get everyone on their feet?”

Yoshi’s eyes lit up at the memory. “Oh yeah! That was fun!” He scratched his head, his tail swaying slightly. “The DJ kept saying, ‘Yoshi, pick something good!’ and I just… went for it.”

The group chuckled, and the scene shifted to a flashback of that party. The music was pumping, and the dance floor was packed. The DJ, clearly overwhelmed by the crowd, turned to Yoshi, who was standing nearby. “Yoshi, help me out! Pick a song that’ll get everyone dancing!” Yoshi nodded confidently, his tail swishing as he took the mic. “Leave it to me!”

The first song he picked was *Uptown Funk* by Mark Ronson ft. Bruno Mars. The moment the opening beats hit, the crowd erupted into cheers, and everyone flooded the dance floor. Yoshi was right in the middle of it, his shuffling moves catching everyone’s attention. Next, he surprised everyone by choosing Selena Quintanilla’s *Disco Medley*. The Latin beats had the crowd swaying and spinning, and Yoshi was right there with them, his hips moving in perfect sync.

As the night went on, Yoshi kept the energy high with songs like *Can’t Stop The Feeling* by Justin Timberlake, *Billie Jean* by Michael Jackson, and *Shake Your Body (Down To The Ground)* by The Jacksons. Each song brought a new wave of excitement, and Yoshi’s dance moves only got more impressive. At one point, he even got everyone doing the *Cha Cha Slide* and *Cupid Shuffle*, leading the steps with his signature tail-shaking flair.

The flashback ended, and the group was still grinning at the memory. “You were the life of the party, Yoshi,” Daisy said, her voice full of admiration. Toadette nodded. “Everyone was talking about your moves for weeks after that!”

Yoshi scratched his head again, his cheeks turning a faint shade of green. “Aw, shucks, guys. I just love to dance, that’s all.”

Mario grinned, his mustache twitching. “Well, you’re gonna kill it at the competition. No doubt about it.” Luigi patted Yoshi on the back. “We’ll all be there to cheer you on!”

As they walked back to the house, Yoshi’s tail swished happily, and he hummed along to the tune of *Black or White*. The group chatted excitedly about the upcoming competition, their laughter mingling with the sounds of the garden. Yoshi felt a warm surge of confidence—he was ready to give it his all, and with his friends by his side, he knew he couldn’t lose.

A Pianta was strolling through Yoshi’s garden, humming a cheerful tune to himself, when he suddenly stopped in his tracks. From behind a row of tall flowers, he spotted Yoshi practicing his dance moves. Yoshi’s green tail swayed in perfect rhythm, his hips swinging with precision, and his feet shuffling in sharp, quick steps. The Pianta’s eyes widened in surprise, and he couldn’t help but let out a low whistle. “Wow, Yoshi!” he called out, clapping his hands. “Where’d you learn to dance like that? You’re a natural!”

Yoshi paused mid-move, his tongue flicking out in surprise before he turned to face the Pianta. He grinned, his cheeks turning a slightly deeper shade of green from the unexpected compliment. “Oh, hey! Thanks!” he replied, his voice warm and friendly. He tilted his head, remembering the moment that sparked his love for dancing. “You know, it all started when I saw this other Yoshi dancing one day. He had this way of moving his tail that just… I don’t know, it looked so cool!”

The Pianta leaned against a nearby fence, his leafy arms crossed as he listened intently. “Really? Another Yoshi? What happened next?”

Yoshi’s eyes lit up as he recalled the memory. “Well, I couldn’t take my eyes off him. He was doing these tail-shakes and hip-swings that I’d never seen before. I was just standing there, watching, when he noticed me. He stopped dancing, walked over, and asked me if I wanted to learn how to shimmy with my tail.” Yoshi chuckled, his tail giving a playful wiggle. “Of course, I said yes! Who wouldn’t?”

The Pianta laughed, his deep voice rumbling like the rustle of leaves. “I wouldn’t say no either! Sounds like you had a great teacher.”

Yoshi nodded, his expression brightening as the memory played out in his mind like a vivid flashback. “He was amazing. He showed me how to move my hips just right, how to get my tail to follow the rhythm, and even taught me some of the moves I’m using in the competition now.” Yoshi’s voice softened, a hint of gratitude in his tone. “He told me, ‘Dancing isn’t just about the moves—it’s about feeling the music and letting it move you.’ That stuck with me.”

The Pianta smiled, his leafy face crinkling with warmth. “Sounds like he was more than just a teacher. He was an inspiration.”

Yoshi’s grin widened. “Yeah, he really was. And now… here I am, practicing for the competition, trying to make him proud.” He glanced back at the garden, the memory of his first dance lesson still fresh in his mind. “I hope he’s out there somewhere, dancing just like I am.”

The Pianta clapped Yoshi on the back gently, his touch warm and encouraging. “Well, if he’s watching, I’m sure he’s proud. Keep at it, Yoshi. You’ve got something special.”

Yoshi’s tail gave a happy swish as he turned back to his practice, his movements even more fluid and confident. The Pianta stayed for a while, watching with a smile as Yoshi danced under the golden afternoon sun, his joy and passion shining through every step.

Wario and Waluigi were skulking around the outskirts of Yoshi’s garden, their lanky frames crouched behind a row of towering sunflowers. Yoshi was in the middle of his practice session, his green scales shimmering under the afternoon sun as he moved fluidly across the grass. He was perfecting his tail-shaking moves, leaning forward with precision and swinging his hips to an imaginary beat. Occasionally, he’d pause, adjust his stance, and try again, his tongue flicking out in concentration.

“Would you look at this guy,” Wario muttered, his arms crossed over his barrel chest. “Practicing like he’s already won. What a show-off.”

Waluigi leaned on his scythe-like frame, his long nose twitching as he watched Yoshi with narrowed eyes. “Yeah, acting all high and mighty. Bet he thinks he’s the next Michael Jackson or something.”

Despite their grumbling, the two made no move to interrupt Yoshi. They knew better than to mess with him during practice, especially with Mario and Luigi likely lurking nearby. Instead, they exchanged sly grins, their eyes gleaming with mischief.

“We’re entering the competition too, you know,” Wario said, puffing out his chest. “And we’ve got something *special* planned for our routine. Ain’t that right, Waluigi?”

Waluigi snickered, his voice nasally and dripping with overconfidence. “Oh, it’s gonna be *epic*. Something nobody’s ever seen before. Yoshi won’t know what hit him.”

Unbeknownst to them, Mallow had been floating nearby, his cloud-like body blending in with the sky. The fluffy little marshmallow had been on his way to visit Yoshi when he overheard Wario and Waluigi’s conversation. Curiosity piqued, he descended gently, landing just behind them with a soft *whoosh*.

“Hey, you two,” Mallow said, his voice cheerful but inquisitive. “What’s this about a *special* routine? What are you up to?”

Wario and Waluigi jumped, startled by Mallow’s sudden appearance. Wario recovered quickly, his scowl deepening as he crossed his arms. “None of your business, fluffball!” he snapped. “Why don’t you go float somewhere else?”

Waluigi, however, couldn’t resist the chance to brag. He leaned down, his lanky frame towering over Mallow, and whispered, “Let’s just say… we’ve got a routine that’s gonna blow everyone’s minds. Yoshi won’t stand a chance!”

Mallow tilted his head, his round eyes filled with curiosity. “But… isn’t Yoshi really good? He’s been practicing a lot. And he’s got those cool tail moves and everything.”

Wario snorted, his voice dripping with sarcasm. “Tail moves? Please. That’s kid stuff. What we’ve got is *real* talent. You’ll see. Just don’t go blabbing about it, got it?”

Mallow nodded, though his expression was still skeptical. “Oookay… but if you’re planning something mean, Mario and Luigi aren’t gonna be happy about it.”

Waluigi waved a dismissive hand. “Oh, relax, marshmallow. It’s all in good fun. Now scram! We’ve got a routine to plan.”

Mallow frowned but didn’t press further. He floated off, glancing back at the two troublemakers with a hint of unease. Wario and Waluigi watched him go, their grins widening as they exchanged a conspiratorial look.

“Alright, Waluigi,” Wario said, rubbing his hands together. “Let’s get to work. That Yoshi won’t know what hit him.”

Waluigi cackled, his voice echoing across the garden as the two slunk away, already scheming their next move.

When Yoshi and the other performers arrived at the arena, the atmosphere was electric with excitement. The crowd buzzed with anticipation, cheers and chatter filling the air as everyone took their seats. The performers, including Yoshi, gathered backstage, their nerves mingling with adrenaline. The stage lights dimmed briefly before the spotlight shifted to the judges’ table, revealing an impressive lineup of musical legends and icons.

The judges introduced themselves one by one. Abraham Quintanilla stood first, his voice calm but commanding. “We’re honored to be here today to witness your talent,” he said, his eyes scanning the performers with a fatherly warmth. Marcella Samora, A.B. Quintanilla, and Suzette Quintanilla followed, their smiles radiating encouragement. Chris Perez, leaning back in his chair, gave a casual wave. “Let’s see what you’ve got,” he said, his tone relaxed but sincere.

The Jackson family was well-represented, with Jaafar Jackson, Jermaine Jackson, and Janet Jackson all seated prominently. Janet, sunglasses perched on her nose, gave a small nod. “Energy and precision—that’s what I’m looking for,” she said, her voice smooth and cool. Shakira, seated beside her, added with a playful smile, “And don’t forget the hips—they don’t lie!” The crowd laughed, and Yoshi couldn’t help but chuckle nervously.

Ice Cube, sitting with his arms crossed and a stoic expression, simply said, “Bring it.” Adam Levine, on the other hand, leaned forward eagerly. “I’m here for the passion,” he declared, his voice full of enthusiasm. Randy Jackson and James Valentine exchanged a quick word before Randy gave a thumbs-up. “Let’s make this a night to remember,” he said with a grin.

Snoop Dogg, relaxed in his seat, gave a slow nod. “Keep it smooth, keep it real,” he drawled. Dr. Dre, sitting beside him, added, “And make it undeniable.” O’Shea Jackson Jr. and Eminem offered their own brief words of encouragement, while Jennifer Lopez and Taylor Swift exchanged friendly glances. “Show us your heart,” Jennifer said, her voice warm. Taylor added, “And don’t be afraid to take risks.”

Sabrina Carpenter and Constance Marie shared a quick laugh before Sabrina said, “Let’s see some personality up there!” Next, a few of Bob Marley’s children and grandchildren introduced themselves, their accents melodic and soothing. Elvis’s grandchildren followed, their southern charm on full display. Harry Styles and Zayn exchanged a quick fist bump before Harry said, “Let’s have some fun with it, yeah?” Ryan Tedder and Justin Timberlake both emphasized the importance of originality, while Bruno Mars gave a playful wink. “Dance like nobody’s watching,” he said, grinning.

Selena Gomez leaned forward, her voice gentle but encouraging. “Just be you—that’s enough.” Ginger Alden, MC Ren, Drake, Kendrick Lamar, Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, P Diddy, Faith Evans, Chris Brown, Katy Perry, Christina Aguilera, Sean Paul, Billie Eilish, Christina Applegate, Ryan Seacrest, and Ariana Grande all introduced themselves in turn, each adding their own flair to the introductions. The crowd erupted in applause for each judge, their excitement building.

Then, Yolanda Saldivar’s face appeared on a large screen via Zoom. She adjusted her glasses and began, “I’d like to introduce myself—” but before she could finish, a collective groan rose from the crowd. Yoshi, the performers, Mario, and their friends all shouted, “Shut up, Yolanda!” in unison. Even the judges exchanged uneasy glances. Abraham Quintanilla was the first to speak up, his tone firm but measured. “Yolanda, you’re here as long as you behave yourself,” he said, his voice carrying a warning. Yolanda’s screen promptly went silent, and the tension in the room eased.

Suge Knight’s face appeared next on another screen, but his introduction was cut short by Judge Snoop Dogg, who casually said, “Ain’t nobody got time for that, big homie.” The crowd chuckled, and Suge’s screen went blank. Conrad Murray, seated in person, cleared his throat nervously as he introduced himself, but the room’s energy shifted subtly, with many in the audience exchanging uncomfortable glances. Mario leaned over to Luigi and whispered, “This guy’s got some nerve showing up here,” to which Luigi nodded grimly.

Finally, Miley Cyrus wrapped up the introductions with her signature enthusiasm. “Alright, let’s get this party started!” she exclaimed, her voice vibrant and full of energy. The crowd cheered, and the performers felt a renewed sense of determination. Yoshi took a deep breath, his tail swishing slightly as he exchanged determined glances with the other dancers. The competition was about to begin, and he was ready to give it his all.

The first performer, Bowser Junior, took the stage with a mischievous grin, his spiked shell gleaming under the spotlight. The opening beats of *They Don’t Care About Us* by Michael Jackson and The Jacksons thumped through the speakers, and Bowser Junior launched into his routine. His moves were sharp and bold, a mix of stomps, spins, and aggressive head bobs that matched the song’s defiant tone. He even incorporated some of his dad’s signature fire-breathing gestures into the dance, though thankfully without the actual flames. The crowd roared with a mix of cheers and nervous laughter, unsure whether to clap or duck.

The judges’ reactions were mixed. Ice Cube leaned forward, nodding along with the beat, clearly impressed by the raw energy. “Now that’s what I’m talking about,” he muttered under his breath, his arms crossed but his fingers tapping in time. Suge Knight, watching from his screen, gave a slow nod of approval. “Kid’s got grit,” he said, his deep voice carrying through the room. Even Snoop Dogg tipped his hat slightly, acknowledging the performance.

But not everyone was on board. Abraham Quintanilla and Marcella Samora exchanged a glance, their expressions unreadable but their silence speaking volumes. Chris Perez leaned over to whisper something to Suzette Quintanilla, who shook her head slightly. “It’s… aggressive,” she said diplomatically, though her tone hinted at unease. A.B. Quintanilla rubbed his chin, his brow furrowed as he watched Bowser Junior finish with a dramatic stomp and a fist pump. “It’s got energy, sure,” he said finally. “But it’s missing something… soul, maybe.”

The crowd erupted into applause as Bowser Junior took a bow, his grin widening. “That’s how it’s done!” he shouted, his voice dripping with confidence. The judges gave their scores, some high, some low, but Bowser Junior didn’t seem to care. He strutted off the stage, his tail swishing as he passed the next contestant—the pink Yoshi.

The pink Yoshi stepped onto the stage with a graceful poise, her soft voice breaking the tension left by Bowser Junior’s performance. “This one’s for Selena,” she said, her eyes locking on the Quintanilla family before she turned to the DJ and nodded. The opening notes of *Baila Esta Cumbia* filled the room, and the pink Yoshi began to move. Her hips swayed like a washing machine, smooth and rhythmic, as her tail whipped in perfect harmony. The crowd was immediately captivated, their cheers growing louder with every spin and dip.

The judges, especially Selena’s family, were visibly moved. Abraham leaned forward, a proud smile breaking across his face. Marcella’s eyes glistened with emotion, and Chris Perez clapped softly as the pink Yoshi transitioned seamlessly into *Bidi Bidi Bom Bom*. “She’s got it,” Suzette whispered to her family, her voice thick with pride. “She’s honoring Selena’s legacy beautifully.”

The rappers in the judging panel, initially more impressed by Bowser Junior’s boldness, couldn’t help but nod along. Suge Knight, still on screen, gave a rare smile. “Respect to the classics,” he said, his tone softer than usual. Ice Cube, though more reserved, tapped his fingers on the table, clearly enjoying the performance.

When the pink Yoshi finished, the crowd was on their feet, their applause thunderous. She gave a humble bow, her eyes moist with emotion. “Gracias,” she said softly, her voice carrying through the room. The Quintanilla family gave her a standing ovation, their smiles warm and appreciative.

Bowser leaned back in his seat, his sharp grin widening as he called out, “Hey, Pink Yoshi! You should’ve worn a bustier—it would’ve looked *way* more impressive!” Bowser Junior cackled beside him, his high-pitched laugh grating on everyone’s nerves. “Yeah, yeah! More sparkles, more drama! That’s what the crowd wants!”

The pink Yoshi, still catching her breath from her performance, froze mid-step. Her soft pink scales flushed a deeper shade as she turned to face Bowser and Junior, her tail flicking in irritation. “Excuse me?” she said, her voice calm but laced with a quiet firmness. Yoshi, standing nearby, stepped forward, his green features scrunched in disapproval. “That’s not cool, guys. Her performance was amazing just the way it was.”

The judges, who had been discussing the scores, immediately chimed in. Abraham Quintanilla’s expression turned stern, his eyes narrowing as he remembered a similar moment from the past. He leaned into the microphone, his voice steady but carrying a weight of authority. “I remember a time when Selena was scolded on the tour bus for revealing her bustier during a live performance.” The room fell silent as Abraham’s words hung in the air, and the scene cut to a flashback.

In the flashback, a younger Abraham stood on a dimly lit tour bus, his arms crossed as he addressed Selena. “Mija,” he began, his tone firm but filled with concern, “you’re an incredible artist, and your talent speaks for itself. You don’t need to rely on revealing outfits to capture your audience’s attention.” Selena, seated on a bus seat, nodded understandingly, her eyes reflecting both respect and determination. “I get it, Papa,” she said softly. “I just wanted to give the crowd something special.” Abraham’s expression softened, and he placed a hand on her shoulder. “You already do, mija. Your voice, your energy—that’s what makes you special.”

The flashback ended, and Abraham turned his attention back to Bowser and Junior. “What my daughter taught us is that true talent doesn’t need gimmicks. The pink Yoshi’s performance was a tribute to Selena’s legacy, and she did it with grace, skill, and respect. That’s what matters.”

Yoshi, standing beside the pink Yoshi, nodded in agreement. “I saw that scene in the 1997 Selena biopic,” he added, pointing at Jennifer Lopez, who appeared on a nearby screen in a clip from the movie. “It was a powerful moment, and it’s a reminder that art is about more than just appearances.”

The pink Yoshi smiled gratefully at Yoshi and Abraham, her tail swaying gently. “Thank you,” she said, her voice warm and sincere. “I just wanted to honor Selena’s spirit in the best way I could.”

Bowser and Junior, now looking slightly less confident, grumbled under their breaths. Bowser crossed his arms, his usual bravado faltering. “Alright, alright. No need to make a big deal out of it,” he muttered, though his tone lacked its usual bite. Bowser Junior just slumped in his seat, his grin replaced by a pout.

The judges exchanged approving nods, and the crowd, which had been silent during the exchange, erupted into applause. The pink Yoshi gave a humble bow, her eyes glistening with emotion, while Yoshi gave her a supportive pat on the shoulder. “You were amazing,” he said, his voice filled with genuine admiration. “Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.”

Next up was the Koopa, who sauntered onto the stage with a cool confidence. The DJ cued up a mix of 2Pac’s *California Love*, B.I.G.’s *Hypnotize*, and Ice Cube’s *It Was a Good Day*. The Koopa’s hip-hop moves were sharp and precise, his shell adding an unexpected but smooth flair to his spins and slides. He even incorporated a few breakdancing moves, his shell scraping the floor in a controlled spin before he popped back up with a clap.

The rappers on the judging panel were clearly impressed. Suge Knight leaned closer to the screen, his heavy brow raised in approval. “Now that’s how you drop it,” he said, his voice gruff but appreciative. Ice Cube gave a rare nod of approval, while Snoop Dogg tipped his hat once again. “Kid’s got the flow,” Snoop drawled, his trademark easygoing style shining through.

Even the judges who weren’t typically into hip-hop couldn’t deny the Koopa’s skill. “Impressive,” Randy Jackson admitted, tapping his pen against the judges’ table. James Valentine nodded in agreement. “He’s making that shell work for him,” he said with a chuckle.

As the Koopa finished his routine with a final spin and a pose, the crowd erupted into cheers. He gave a confident nod, his shell glinting under the spotlight. “That’s what hip-hop’s all about,” he said, his voice steady and cool. The judges gave their scores, the rappers particularly generous, and the Koopa walked off the stage with a satisfied smirk.

Next up were Wario and Waluigi, who strutted onto the stage with their usual cocky grins. The DJ, clearly not knowing what was coming, cued up the music, and the opening beats of the *Harlem Shake* blared through the speakers. The two immediately launched into their routine, their movements exaggerated and borderline grotesque. Wario’s belly jiggled as he flailed his arms, while Waluigi’s lanky frame twisted and bent in ways that made the audience collectively cringe.

The crowd’s reaction was instant. Gasps and murmurs of disgust rippled through the room. Even the judges, who had seen it all, looked horrified. Janet Jackson adjusted her sunglasses, her lips pressed into a thin line. Shakira’s playful smile vanished, replaced by a look of utter disbelief. Ice Cube’s stoic expression cracked slightly as he leaned back in his chair, muttering, “What in the world…?”

But not everyone was repulsed. Yolanda Saldivar, appearing on the Zoom screen, clapped her hands together and cheered loudly. “That’s how you do it!” she shouted, her voice grating through the speakers. Suge Knight, also on screen, gave a deep chuckle. “Now *that’s* entertainment,” he said, his heavy voice dripping with sarcasm. Conrad Murray, seated in the back, couldn’t help but smirk, though he quickly tried to hide it when he noticed the disgusted looks from the other judges.

Things took an even stranger turn when the camera cut to Yolanda and Suge’s respective locations. In the prison where Yolanda was held, she and a group of inmates started mimicking the Harlem Shake, their movements just as inappropriate. Guards quickly intervened, their faces twisted in disbelief. “What on earth are you doing?!” one guard barked, grabbing Yolanda by the arm. “That’s extremely disgusting! And what even *is* this?” Another guard shook his head and ordered everyone involved to do extra chores for the week. “You’re all on cleaning duty for the next month!”

Back at the competition, a stage staff member leaned over to Yoshi, looking panicked. “Can you unplug the speakers? Please?” Yoshi, ever the helpful one, nodded and said, “Say no more.” He darted behind the stage, yanked the plug, and the music abruptly stopped. Wario and Waluigi froze mid-move, their arms still in the air. The judges wasted no time. “Get off the stage!” Randy Jackson shouted, his voice sharp and final. “That was completely unacceptable!”

Yoshi, now standing at the edge of the stage, looked at Wario and Waluigi with a mix of confusion and concern. “What’s gotten into you two?” he asked, his voice sincere but firm. Before they could respond, Bowser Junior, Bowser, and Kamek burst into laughter from the audience. “That was awesome!” Bowser Junior yelled, clapping his hands. Bowser gave a deep, rumbling chuckle. “Those two know how to make an entrance!” Kamek nodded in agreement, his spectacles gleaming.

Yoshi, the Koopa, and the pink Yoshi exchanged exasperated looks. “Stay out of it,” Yoshi said, his tone more annoyed than angry. The pink Yoshi crossed her arms and added, “You’re not helping.”

Wario and Waluigi, still on stage, turned defensive. “Oh, come on!” Wario snapped, pointing at Yoshi. “You’re gonna stand there and act all high and mighty? You’re the one who’s doing hip-swinging with your tail-shaking moves!” Waluigi chimed in, his voice nasally. “Yeah, and what about her?” He pointed at the pink Yoshi. “She’s out here doing the Cumbia, swaying her hips all over the place. Hypocrites, both of you!”

Abraham Quintanilla, Marcella, and Shakira immediately stood up in defense of the Yoshi’s. “Their hip movements are artistic and appropriate,” Abraham said, his voice calm but firm. Marcella nodded. “It’s about rhythm and expression, not… whatever *that* was.” Shakira, with her signature playful tone, added, “Hips don’t lie, but yours? Yours were just… wrong.”

Randy Jackson, still visibly upset, leaned into the mic. “You two are lucky the police aren’t being called for exposing minors to that!” he said, his voice booming through the now-silent room. The crowd murmured in agreement, some nodding vigorously.

Wario and Waluigi, realizing they were outnumbered, exchanged a quick glance. Wario crossed his arms and muttered, “Whatever,” while Waluigi just shrugged, trying to play it cool. But the damage was done, and the judges’ looks of disappointment were enough to make even them feel a twinge of regret—though they’d never admit it.

Yoshi stepped onto the stage, the spotlight casting a vibrant glow on his green scales. The crowd roared with anticipation as the opening beats of *Black or White* by Michael Jackson filled the air. Yoshi gave a confident nod to the DJ and began with some sharp shuffling moves, his feet gliding effortlessly across the floor. Donkey Kong, sitting in the front row, jumped to his feet and shouted, “Michael would be proud, Yoshi!” Yoshi grinned, his tongue flicking out briefly, before launching into a flawless moonwalk. The audience erupted into cheers, and Yoshi could feel the energy in the room surging.

Without missing a beat, Yoshi transitioned into his signature tail-shaking moves. “Hip Swing Express!” he called out, leaning forward and swinging his hips to the rhythm with a playful grin. His movements were sharp yet smooth, like a well-oiled machine. The crowd cheered, some even mimicking his hip swings from their seats. “Tail Whip Whirl!” Yoshi spun around, his tail creating a blur of motion that seemed almost hypnotic. A few audience members gasped, wondering how a tail could move with such precision and speed. “Sliding Sway!” Yoshi shifted his weight smoothly from one foot to the other, his movements fluid and precise, as if he were gliding on air. His green scales glistened under the spotlight, adding an extra layer of dazzle to his performance. “Final Spin Flash!” Yoshi ended the sequence with a dramatic spin, his tail whipping through the air one last time before he struck a pose, arms outstretched and chest heaving slightly from the effort.

The crowd went absolutely wild. People were on their feet, clapping and shouting, “This dino can dance!” “How is he doing that?” Yoshi’s energy was infectious, and even the judges couldn’t help but tap their feet along to the beat. Yoshi, still catching his breath, sang along to the lyrics, his voice blending perfectly with Michael Jackson’s iconic track. He wasn’t just dancing—he was telling a story with every move, pouring his heart into the performance. His eyes sparkled with joy, and for a moment, it felt like the whole world was watching him, not just the crowd in the room.

In the front row, Donkey Kong was pounding his fists on the edge of the stage, shouting, “That’s my boy! You’re killing it, Yoshi!” The pink Yoshi, who had been waiting backstage, peeked out and gave him a thumbs-up, her own tail swaying slightly in admiration. Even the Koopa, who was known for his cool demeanor, nodded in respect, muttering, “Alright, I see you, man.”

While Yoshi was dancing, he sang a line from *Rhythm Nation*, his voice clear and surprisingly in tune with the beat. “I am a part of the Rhythm Nation!” he belted out, his tail swaying in time with the music. Mario, standing at the edge of the stage, raised an eyebrow and turned to Luigi. “Since when is Yoshi a Janet Jackson fan?” he asked, scratching his head. Luigi shrugged, his eyes wide with surprise. “I didn’t even know he could sing!”

Peach, who had been watching intently, clasped her hands together and smiled warmly. “He’s always been cute, but I never knew he could dance like this! He’s amazing!” She leaned forward, her dress swishing slightly as she tried to get a better view of Yoshi’s moves.

Meanwhile, Wario and Waluigi, sulking in the corner, crossed their arms and grumbled to each other. “Ugh, look at them,” Wario sneered, pointing at Yoshi and the other dancers. “Total showoffs. Who do they think they are, huh? Michael Jackson himself?” Waluigi nodded, his long nose twitching with irritation. “Yeah, it’s all fluff and no substance. I bet they couldn’t even keep up with our moves!”

A random person sitting nearby overheard their complaints and shot them a glare. “Oh, shut it, you two!” the person snapped, clearly unimpressed. “Yoshi’s out there killing it, and you’re just whining because you got disqualified. Face it—he’s way better than whatever nonsense you tried to pull.”

Wario opened his mouth to argue, but Waluigi elbowed him sharply. “Let it go, man,” Waluigi muttered under his breath. “We’re not gonna win this one.” Wario grumbled something unintelligible but slumped back into his seat, his trademark scowl firmly in place.

Janet Jackson, seated at the judging panel, leaned forward in her chair as Yoshi’s performance unfolded. Her eyes widened slightly when he belted out, “I am a part of the Rhythm Nation!” in perfect sync with his moves. She clapped her hands together, a bright smile breaking across her face. “Well, I did *not* see that coming!” she said, her voice filled with genuine surprise and delight. “Yoshi, you’re full of surprises, aren’t you?” She turned to the other judges, who were equally stunned. “Did you hear that? He’s got rhythm *and* vocals!”

The other judges nodded, their expressions a mix of admiration and awe. Shakira, who had been bopping along to Yoshi’s moves, gave a playful sway of her hips. “His hips don’t lie, that’s for sure!” she said with a laugh. Ice Cube, usually stoic, gave a rare nod of approval. “Kid’s got talent,” he remarked, his voice low but impressed. Even Randy Jackson, known for his tough critiques, couldn’t help but grin. “That was unexpected, but in the best way,” he said, tapping his pen against the table. “Yoshi’s bringing the heat tonight!”

Janet leaned back in her chair, still clapping along to the beat. “You know,” she said, her tone thoughtful, “when I wrote *Rhythm Nation*, I hoped it would inspire people. And here we have Yoshi, a dancing, singing dinosaur, living that message. It’s kind of amazing.” The other judges murmured in agreement, their eyes fixed on Yoshi as he continued to dominate the stage.

Even the pink Yoshi, who had been watching from backstage, couldn’t help but cheer. “Go, Yoshi!” she called out, her voice carrying over the music. The Koopa, standing beside her, gave a rare smirk. “Alright, I’ll admit it,” he said. “The guy’s got moves.”

As Yoshi continued to own the stage, Janet turned to the other judges with a mischievous grin. “You think he’d be up for a duet?” she joked, causing the panel to erupt into laughter. But in that moment, it was clear—Yoshi wasn’t just a dancer; he was a star, and the judges were here for it.

Yoshi, oblivious to the drama unfolding offstage, continued to dance with all the energy he had. His moves were sharp, his rhythm impeccable, and his joy infectious. The crowd couldn’t take their eyes off him, and for a moment, it felt like the whole room was part of Yoshi’s rhythm nation.
Yoshi’s performance wasn’t just a series of moves—it was a celebration of rhythm, joy, and creativity. And as he stood there, basking in the applause, he knew he’d left everything he had on that stage. The music, the crowd, the energy—it all came together in that perfect moment, and Yoshi couldn’t have been happier.

When the song ended, the judges didn’t hesitate. They declared Yoshi the winner of the dance competition. The second-place dancer, a pink Yoshi, had wowed the crowd with her Cumbia moves, spinning and swaying like a washing machine to the tunes of Selena Quintanilla’s *Baila Esta Cumbia* and *Bidi Bidi Bom Bom*. She smiled warmly at Yoshi and said, “You deserve it, hermano!” The third-place dancer, a Koopa with a knack for hip-hop, had grooved to the beats of 2Pac, B.I.G., and Ice Cube. He gave Yoshi a friendly fist bump and said, “That was fire, bro. Let’s hit up that ice cream spot to celebrate!”

Meanwhile, Wario and Waluigi, who had been disqualified earlier for their inappropriate Harlem Shake routine, were seething in the corner. Wario crossed his arms and grumbled, “Yoshi’s hips don’t lie, huh? Well, Yoshi’s hips will lie once we’re through with him!” Waluigi snickered, but their laughter was cut short as Mario and Luigi approached, their brows furrowed with disapproval. Mario grabbed Wario by the ear, and Luigi did the same to Waluigi. “That’s enough out of you two,” Mario said firmly. He turned to Yoshi and gave him a gentle pat on the head. “You did great, Yoshi. Go enjoy your ice cream with your friends. We’ll handle these two.”

Yoshi nodded gratefully and joined the pink Yoshi and the Koopa as they headed out. Peach stepped forward, her hands on her hips. “Wario, Waluigi, you’re both grounded for threatening Yoshi,” she declared. Wario rolled his eyes. “Oh, come on! We’re grown men! You’re not our mom!” Rosalina, who had been watching the scene unfold, shook her head. “If you two want to act like children and be sore losers, then we’ll treat you like children,” she said calmly. Mario, Luigi, and Peach nodded in agreement.

The conversation turned to Wario and Waluigi’s earlier dance routine. “Where did you even learn that move?” Mario asked, raising an eyebrow. Wario and Waluigi exchanged nervous glances before mumbling, “Nowhere.” Their tone was so unconvincing that Mario, Luigi, Rosalina, Peach, Toad, and Mallow burst into sarcastic laughter. “Nice try,” Peach said, her voice dripping with skepticism. “It had to come from somewhere.” After a few more attempts to dodge the question, Wario and Waluigi finally cracked and explained, though their excuses were flimsy at best.

Mario sighed and crossed his arms, his mustache twitching slightly with frustration. “We’re going to have a very long talk about this at home,” he said sternly, his voice firm but tinged with disappointment. Wario and Waluigi, realizing they were cornered, exchanged nervous glances. Wario, never one to back down easily, puffed out his chest and tried to deflect. “Oh yeah? Well, what if we start actin’ like Yolanda Saldivar, Conrad Murray, or the Menendez Brothers, huh? Let’s see how you handle that!” Waluigi cackled beside him, though his laughter was shaky and lacked conviction.

The mention of those names instantly set off Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Rosalina. Peach’s eyes narrowed, and her hands flew to her hips. “That’s it!” she snapped, her voice sharp as a whip. “You’re grounded for even longer now! And don’t think I’m joking!”

Toad, Toadette, and Mallow, who had been quietly observing the scene, exchanged puzzled looks. “Who are those people?” Mallow asked, his fluffy face scrunched in confusion. “They sound… not nice.”

Mario’s expression darkened as he stepped forward, his usual cheerful demeanor replaced by uncharacteristic seriousness. “They’re not nice at all, Mallow,” he said gravely. “Yolanda Saldivar was involved in the tragic murder of Selena Quintanilla, a beloved singer, back in 1995. Conrad Murray was the doctor responsible for Michael Jackson’s untimely death in 2009 due to negligence. And the Menendez Brothers… well, they committed an unspeakable crime against their own family in 1989.” Luigi nodded solemnly, his hands gripping his overall straps tightly. “It’s not something to joke about, Wario, Waluigi. Those names carry a lot of pain and loss.”

Wario and Waluigi shifted uncomfortably under the weight of Mario’s words. Waluigi tugged at his long nose, avoiding eye contact, while Wario muttered, “We didn’t mean it like that…” but his voice trailed off, lacking its usual bravado.

Peach stepped forward, her tone unyielding. “You two need to understand the gravity of what you’re saying. Threatening to act like those people? That’s not just inappropriate—it’s deeply hurtful.” Rosalina placed a gentle hand on Peach’s shoulder, her cosmic aura radiating calm but her voice firm. “If you want to be treated like adults, you need to start acting like them. Right now, you’re acting like children throwing tantrums.”

Mario crossed his arms again, his voice softening but still laced with authority. “We’ll have that talk at home. And it’s not going to be short.” He glanced at Luigi, who nodded in agreement. “You’ve got a lot to answer for.”

Wario and Waluigi exchanged another look, this time tinged with unease. They knew they’d crossed a line, and for once, their usual schemes and excuses weren’t going to save them. The room fell silent, the tension thick as Mario’s words lingered in the air.

The room fell silent for a moment before Mario clapped his hands. “Alright, let’s go. We’ve got a lot to discuss.” Wario and Waluigi groaned but knew better than to argue further. The rest of the group exchanged relieved glances, grateful that the drama was finally over—at least for now.

The next day, the Quintanilla family reached out to Yoshi with an exciting request. “Yoshi, would you be willing to create a dance tutorial video?” Abraham Quintanilla asked, his voice warm but enthusiastic. Yoshi’s eyes lit up, and he nodded eagerly. “Of course! I’d be honored!”

Filming began in a bright, open studio with colorful lights and a lively atmosphere. Yoshi stood in front of the camera, his green scales gleaming under the lights. He introduced himself with his signature cheerful energy. “Hi everyone! I’m Yoshi, and today I’m going to teach you some of my favorite dance moves—the moonwalk, the shuffle, and my four tail-shaking moves. Let’s get started!”

First up was the moonwalk. Yoshi demonstrated the move with smooth, gliding steps, his feet appearing to slide effortlessly backward. “Start with your weight on one foot,” he explained, his tone patient and encouraging. “Then slide the other foot back while shifting your weight. Keep it smooth and steady!” He repeated the move a few times, making sure the camera captured every detail.

Next came the shuffle. Yoshi’s feet moved in quick, precise steps, his body swaying in rhythm. “This one’s all about the rhythm,” he said, his voice upbeat. “Step-tap-step-tap, and keep it light on your feet!” He added a playful spin at the end, making the move look both fun and easy to learn.

Then it was time for his signature tail-shaking moves. Yoshi began with the “Hip Swing Express,” leaning forward and swinging his hips in a wide arc. “This one’s all about the hips and tail,” he said with a grin. “Lean forward, swing those hips, and let your tail follow the motion!” He moved on to the “Tail Whip Whirl,” spinning rapidly as his tail created a blur of motion. “Keep your balance and let the tail do the work!” He demonstrated the “Sliding Sway,” shifting his weight smoothly from side to side, and finished with the “Final Spin Flash,” ending the sequence with a dramatic spin and pose.

Throughout the tutorial, Yoshi’s enthusiasm was infectious. He cheered on anyone trying the moves at home, saying, “Don’t worry if it’s not perfect at first! Just have fun and keep practicing!”

When the filming wrapped up, Yoshi uploaded the video, excitement bubbling in his chest. Within 20 minutes, the video was flooded with likes and positive comments. “Yoshi, you’re a dancing legend!” one comment read. Another said, “I never knew a tail could be so cool!” The pink Yoshi even commented, “Amazing job, hermano! You’re inspiring us all!” The Koopa chimed in with, “Bro, you’ve got serious moves. Respect.”

Yoshi smiled as he scrolled through the comments, feeling a warm sense of accomplishment. The Quintanilla family called to congratulate him, their voices filled with pride. “You’ve done us proud, Yoshi,” Marcella said. “Selena would’ve loved this.”

As the video’s popularity grew, Yoshi couldn’t help but feel a spark of inspiration. “Maybe I should do more tutorials,” he thought, his tail swaying slightly as he imagined all the moves he could share with the world.
