Howdy, this is a list of my headcanons for a Sonic the Hedgehog Musical Theatre AU, with each character given parts to play in a production, and how I’d base my casting. As a theatre kid at heart, this idea has been stewing in my brain for a good while, but I haven’t put a digital pen to paper yet to lock it down.
This first section will focus simply on laying out the characters and how I think they’d fit into a theatre environment, while future chapters will tackle actual productions put on by the group.
If you have any requests for shows and/or casting for said shows, feel free to leave them in the comments. I can’t promise to go through them all, but it’s also an opportunity for me to potentially listen through shows I haven’t heard.
Without further adieu, here’s my headcanon list:
Sonic - Tenor, often cast in lead role, overconfident in his abilities, shocked when put in supporting roles
Tails - Tech, develops/mans the mics
Knuckles - Baritone, often cast in ensemble, misses rehearsal often
Amy - Alto, strong voice, limited range, often cast in lead role, wishes she could sing higher
Cream - Backstage help, rarely auditions to be in the show, helps Tails when mics malfunction
Big - Not a performer, always attends productions
Shadow - Bass, hates musicals, never auditions, occasionally forced by Rouge
Rouge - Soprano, very strong headvoice, rarely cast in leads due to unreliability
Omega - I don’t know, maybe he sells tickets or something
Espio - Baritone, mic always turned up to max, no projection, enjoys dramatic roles with little singing
Charmy - Go to for male youth performer due to limited selection, can’t sing very well, doesn’t take productions too seriously
Vector - Cannot sing, just attends to watch Espio and Charmy
Blaze - Soprano, quiet voice, limited projection, mainly auditions to humor Marine and Silver
Silver - Tenor, can sing even higher than Sonic, rarely given the chance to shine
Marine - Go to for female youth performer, is just there to have fun, big stage presence
Jet - Baritone, always trying to one up Sonic, even though his range is lower, believes himself the strongest performer involved
Wave - Mezzo, mainly attends to keep Jet and Storm in line
Storm - Bass, only there to be Jet’s yes-man
Tangle - Alto, can hardly sing, huge stage presence + projection, often tries to convince Whisper to join
Whisper - Works the lights, has terrible stage fright, refuses to audition
Lanolin - Co-director with Jewel, much more strict with the cast
Jewel - Co-director with Lanolin, tries to cater to everyone’s needs, often overwhelmed
I’m aware that these are a bit barebones, I plan on fleshing them out as I get to actually writing content, if I ever do continue on with these ideas.
Despite being a theatre kid, I’m not the most well versed on proper terminology, so feel free to correct me if anything is mistaken.
I also know that I left out characters such as Eggman and his creations, as I was unsure how to incorporate them into this more grounded world, but if you have ideas, feel free to mention them.
Same goes for any characters you feel I’ve left out, it’s very possible I’ve forgotten some very crucial characters. I’ll update this chapter as needed.
As far as I’m concerned, this covers everything I wanted to get down. I have a ton of shows in mind, alongside casting, but again, this may end up just a one-off sort of thing. We’ll see how invested I get into it.
