Blue Moon Blessing

Summary:

After the whole 'Tom puts Marco in heat' fiasco during Tom's breeding season, the two are left with a bond. Not only that, it was blessed under the Blue Moon. This will have consequences, including, but not limited to: hiding their bond, navigating the bond instincts, fake dating, public gossip, or being found out!? Stick around to find out!

-.-

This is a sequel to a oneshot that I will link. It's an optional read, but will provide a lot of context.

Chapter 1: Bonding and Barely Making it

Chapter Text

Marco let out a heavy sigh. He looked up at Tom, who was leaning on his knees, head firmly planted in his hands. His tail was waving behind him, letting Marco know that he was barely containing his panic. Marco rolled his shoulders, preparing for whatever mess was in for him, only to flinch as a sharp pain spike him. He glanced at his shoulder. The bite mark that was left there a week prior looked almost like a tattoo rather than a scar. That was... strange.

"Okay," He said, shaking off his confusion. "What is a 'Blue Moon Blessing' and why is it a problem?"

Tom looked up, face flushed and grim. He stood up and stomped over to Marco, sitting on his bed with a huff. Just when he was about to ask what his deal was, he felt his shoulder tingle. The bite started glowing, red flowy tendrils dancing their way across Marco's skin, flowing onto his chest, up his neck, and down his arm. He gaped at the sudden patterning, looking up just to see the same flowery blue marks spreading across Tom's shoulder.

"That's gonna happen any time we get close," Tom huffed, brushing a hand over his shoulder. "So, you already know about the Blood Moon, right? How it chooses two souls to bind?"

"Yeah, and you got really mad that Star and I were chosen."

"I just couldn't believe the moon chose a true platonic pair to bind, rather than a true romantic pair," Tom grumbled, crossing his arms, "but whatever! What's important to know is that the moon is very important, especially to demons, when it comes to choosing partners or friends."

Marco tilted his head. "Why? Is it just really good at it?"

"Well, scientifically, we don't have any idea, but religiously, it has something to do with the gods of the Sun and the Moon." Tom held up his hands. "The Sun and the Moon used to be in the sky at the same time, and were lovers, but then the Great Dark got jealous and stole away the Moon, only letting her shine when it was night, when the Sun was asleep." Tom gestured with his left hand. "The Moon's power was greatly limited due to her capture, so when she cast a spell looking for her lover, she couldn't cast it again for a month."

"Oh, the full moon?" Marco asked.

Tom nodded. "Eventually, the Sun and Moon found that the worlds greatly balanced when they weren't together, so instead of reaching out to each other, they defeated the Great Dark and became rulers of day and night. The Sun took on the responsibilities of growth and waking life, but the Moon watched over the families and couples. It's why almost every demon couple is married under the full moon."

"Huh, I didn't know that demons married under a full moon."

"Eh, it's tradition. Many believe that the Moon will interfere if it's not meant to be, but there's no evidence that a normal full moon does that, but I digress." Tom sighed and looked at Marco. "What we do have evidence for is blessings during what we call 'Moon events'. Events like the Blood Moon, or a Blue Moon."

"Okay, I'm following?" Marco responded, tilting his head. Tom rolled his eyes.

"The Moon blesses bonds," Tom said, "The Blood Moon binds a pair that possibly haven't even met yet, meaning she creates a bond. The Blue Moon, on the other hand, can bless bonds created under it! Do you know how demons make bonds, Marco?"

"Uh, no..." Marco leaned away from Tom's intense look.

"They create bonds by biting each other, Marco!" Tom growled, throwing his arms up in exasperation. "You just couldn't control yourself! What should have just been a Passion Bond, is now so much more, because you just had to bite me!"

"Wha- hey! You bit me first!" Marco huffed, pushing Tom's shoulder. "How was I even supposed to know that biting back would make a bond? Let alone that the Blue Moon could, or even would, bless it!? I don't even know what the big deal is, yet!"

"The big deal, Marco Polo," Tom poked at Marco's chest. "Is that any blessed bond is incredibly rare! The Blood Moon only chooses one pair to bind, the Blue Moon only chooses one bond to bless, and even the Black Moon marks only one couple! And I'm the Prince of Demons! There's no way we're getting out of this without either a marriage or a huge political fallout!"

"Wow! Okay, jeez! Cool it, will ya?" Marco put some space between them. "So, aside from the fact that the Moon apparently thinks we make a good pair, can't we just hide it?"

"'Can't we just hide it?' Marco, is your brain made of cotton candy?" Tom shook his head, falling back onto his bed. "You saw what it's done to our bodies! No matter how hard we try to hide it, if we're standing next to each other, people are gonna know!"

"Yeah, people will only know if we're net to each other," Marco said. "So, isn't the way to not get found out is to not be next to each other?"

Tom rolled his eyes and opened his mouth before furrowing his brows. His mouth closed in a frown and sat up, rubbing his chin. "... Yeah. If we're not together in public, then no one will know."

"Or only in the Underworld." Marco shrugged. "No one on Earth would know what it means."

"Star would know."

"I'm not always with Star!" Marco rolled his eyes. "And she didn't know what the Blood Moon was, so I doubt that she'd know what the Blue Moon does."

"Ah, yeah, that's true..." Tom hummed. The two sat silence for a moment.

"... Why are we talking about this like we're gonna meet up in secret? We don't even hang out that much?"

With a sigh, Tom fell back onto the bed again. "That would be the bond instincts. Wants us close, you know."

"Right, that was my other question," Marco rubbed his shoulder. "I'm human. Wouldn't I not be able to do the bond thing? I mean, it has something to do with venom, right?"

Tom glanced over and waved him off. "Doesn't really matter if your partner doesn't have venom. Magic makes up for it. As long as the body recognizes the bite, a bond is made. Comes with a huge flush of dopamine and other euphoric chemicals."

"Oh, so that's why started fucking me harder-"

"Okay, you can shut up now!" Tom shouted, flushing a deep purple. "You were in heat as my ch-chosen mate! Then you bit me! I couldn't help it!"

Marco chuckled, drawing Tom's gaze again. He studied the human for a moment before looking away with a huff.

"Biting during bedding is instinctual," He grumbled, crossing his arms. "A lot of passion bonds happen during breeding season. Usually, they're very unstable and easily breakable. Which makes our bond even more rare."

"'Bedding?' What's that?"

Tom flushed a deep purple, his eyes growing wide. He refused to meet Marco's eyes. "I-it's just - well, you know, um, it's just m-mating in a nest to, uh, to- to... W-well, you know the purpose of breeding season, right?"

"... Are you saying you were trying to get me-"

"Okay! I gotta go!" Tom jumped up from the bed, not letting Marco finish his statement. "I put some pain meds in your night stand, along with some vitamins. Take those, and I'll contact you later to talk about how we can fix this, okay?"

"Alright." Marco chuckled, watching the blue streaks on Tom's back retreat to the bite mark. "Don't get caught with that passion mark, lest the paparazzi see it!"

Tom groaned, running his hands through his hair. "Gods, I really don't need any more humiliation!"

Then he was gone, leaving Marco to limp to the bathroom on his own.

.

Marco really shouldn't have been surprised that he couldn't walk all that well, but collapsing as soon as he stepped on the floor would shock anybody. He had to just lay there until the meds kicked in, silently cursing out Tom under his breath.

It wasn't until he was dressed and freshened up that he remembered that Star was supposed to be back, yet she hadn't gone to wake him up or greet him. Walking up to her door, Marco was greeted with a letter from Star, lamenting that she wouldn't be able to return for at least a month, as she got caught up in some inescapable politics that her mother refused to let her sit out of. Convenient. Tom and Marco wouldn't have to worry about Star for the mean time.

So Marco continued on with his day, making himself breakfast and heading to school. It was fairly uneventful. Which made Marco bored. Sure, he had an accidental bond to deal with, woop-dee-doo, but he had a feeling he'd be doing a lot of waiting around.

His mind wandered to Tom. That venom put Marco in heat, but also marked him as 'chosen' by Tom. However, if a bond was a bite from each person, wouldn't that make that first bite a half-bond? Or a bond initiation at least? If that was the case, it's no wonder it happens accidentally so often. Marco's blurred memories of the night prior revealed that he definitely was just lost in the moment. He didn't have any idea what he did. Yet, the way Tom acted after...

Marco bit his lip.

Tom was rough and passionate, strong hands bruising his body, rocking into Marco with a force that no human could replicate, driving Marco to ecstasy over and over again. The memory of his low whispers made Marco shudder, that dirty language confirming what exactly it meant to be 'bed' by a demon. It was hot. It was incredible. Marco hadn't experienced anything quite like it.

The ringing bell startled Marco out of his thoughts. Hoping his face wasn't too red as he gathered his things and started toward lunch. Yet, when he reached his locker, his shoulder started to ache. Then it started to burn. He grimaced as the feeling grew, turning on foot to make his way to the bathroom. He was pretty much running through the halls when he was suddenly yanked back by his hood.

"Hey- Tom!?" Marco looked up at the demon. He wasn't expecting to see him so soon, but as the pain in his shoulder faded, he guessed it had something to do with that. Tom was flush and panting, practically shaking where he stood. Marco glanced around. "Okay, um, follow me!"

Marco pulled Tom along, feeling the tendrils spread across his shoulder as he fled through the halls. He soon found the janitors closet, slamming the door shut behind him. Tom almost collapsed on Marco, trapping him between the wall and his body as his head fell to Marco's shoulder. He was practically burning up, every one of his muscles trembling. Marco tentatively put his hands on his back.

"Are you okay?" He asked, falling silent as Tom cupped his cheek. Then he was surprised by hot lips pressing against his own, Tom letting out a relieved sigh as Marco instinctually pressed back into it. Then it was over as soon as it started, Tom pulling back from the kiss. "W-w-w-what was that about?"

"... Sorry," Tom mumbled, hiding his face in Marco's neck again. "It's still breeding season. Will be for another week or so. And, well, as a bonded pair, you're the only one who can, uh, satisfy me."

"Ah, I-I see..." Marco flushed. Was that why his shoulder started hurting? "You j-just needed some attention?"

"Attention, affection, sex, you're the only one I want." Tom sighed. He pulled back a little more, refusing to meet Marco's eye. "I was so worried about the bond that I completely forgot about it. A-and separating so early in the day without a, um, 'proper' goodbye caused a flare up. Sorry."

"It's alright." Marco observed his face, seeing how genuinely embarrassed he looked. He chewed his lip. "Then... Should we make out?"

Tom perked up, looking at Marco in surprise. "What?"

"Well, it sounds like you need it." Marco felt his face flush at what he was offering. "And it'll prevent a flare up, right? Besides, we're in the make-out closet, so we might as well."

"Make-out closet?" Tom was also flushed, tilting his head in confusion.

"The janitor never uses this closet and it's always unlocked, so kids use it to make-out in. I used to come in here to have panic attacks." Marco wasn't sure why he had said that part, but Tom's raised eyebrow had him scoffing. "It's the most private place in the school, sue me!"

Before he could say anything else, Tom grabbed his chin, tilting his head back and up to look him in the eye. His gaze had gone from ashamed to intense, making Marco shudder. "... Are you aware of what you're suggesting?"

Marco felt his heart skip a beat, a full body shiver running through him. "Yes, and I wouldn't be offering if it wasn't okay. So it's up to you."

Tom studied his face for a few moments, leaning even closer before finally connecting their mouths together again. Marco was pressed into the wall, Tom quickly eating into his mouth with a groan. He seemed to be desperate and it left Marco breathless. His tongue licked into Marco's mouth, drawing out gasps and groans from his partner, his hands squeezing Marco's waist. A tail wrapped around Marco's thigh.

"You really shouldn't make such cute noises," Tom murmured, trailing kisses across Marco's chin. "Makes it hard for me to think..."

Marco couldn't answer, instead responding with a muffled moan, shivering as teeth teased at his skin. Would Tom bite him again? Put him into another heat? It didn't sound bad at all to Marco. If anything, wouldn't it make dealing with the bond easier? They could both go to each other until it's over. He whined as Tom sucked a spot on his neck. Tom brought him into another kiss, quietly purring as Marco wrapped his arms around his neck, burrying a hand in Tom's hair.

It was quickly escalating, Tom squeezing Marco's ass, their fronts grinding together as they chased pleasure. They separated, breathing hard, soon ready to reconnect-

"Hey! Who's in there!? I wanna mack on my girl!" Janna's voice, along with her pounding on the door shocked Marco and Tom to their cores, the two quickly separating.

"Ah! Um! I-I-!" Marco stuttered, trying to find something to say, pressing a hand to Tom's mouth.

"Marco? Are you in here panicking again? That's not what the make-out closet is for, dude!" Marco cringed, trying to even his breaths.

"Hey, be easy on him, Janna."

"... Jackie?" Marco asked in surprise. Jackie and Janna. Huh.

"Hey! Marco, I know your social security number! You better not tell anyone!" Janna sounded strangely angry, in a way Marco had never heard before.

"What? Janna, I would never..."

"It's okay, Marco!" Jackie hummed through the door. "We'll talk to you about it later! You take as long as you need!"

"Yeah, thanks Jackie..." Marco listened to their steps fade, finally relaxing his hold on Tom. "That surprised me."

"Yeah, no kidding." Tom chuckled. He glanced at the door. "What was her problem?"

"Probably something to do with her parents." Marco mumbled, rubbing the back of his neck. He glanced at Tom, noticing how much more relaxed he was then. Their eyes met briefly, the two flushing as they looked away. "Anyway, um, are you good now?"

"Yeah! Yeah, uh, thanks. For, uh, that." Tom coughed into his fist. "So, I guess I'll leave you to it?"

Marco nodded, sticking his hands in his pockets. "Sure. I-If you need... that, again, just let me know, yeah?"

"Yeah. See ya."

Tom dissapeared in a flame of shame.
