They were cheering for him. Calling his name over and over again. He stood in the middle of it, surrounded by a sea of turquoise lights in the darkness. He wanted to smile, but he can't. Panic wasn't a cheery song. He had to be serious. He had to seem lost in melancholic thoughts.
He brought his mic up to his mouth-
“Get up!”
Beomgyu jolted awake to a familiar voice trying to sound sterner than it usually does. Frowning at the light, he tried to turn away from the source and go back to dreamland.
But his blanket was rudely snatched away from him, and Beomgyu hated the cold.
“Get up!”
Beomgyu squinted up to see the one bothering him so early in the morning. Yeonjun wore no signs of remorse for disturbing his sleep. In fact, his boyfriend had that bright eager look which usually meant Beomgyu wasn’t going back to sleep anytime soon.
“What time is it?” Beomgyu asked groggily, his hand groping around for his phone.
“8.30,” Yeonjun said, giggling when he pressed the warm device against the younger's cheek.
Beomgyu groaned in protest and took his phone. He then pulled the blanket back over him and tried to go back to his wonderful dream.
“Hey, you need to get up,” Yeonjun huffed. He pulled back the blanket, ignoring his boyfriend's whine, until it was a bundle on the floor.
“It's too early,” Beomgyu complained, lips pouting when he can't feel the blanket nearby. He naturally curled himself into a ball to make up for the lack of warmth.
“It's 8.30,” Yeonjun repeated, as if that made things better. “You said you wanted to go shopping.”
Beomgyu rolled over, burying his face in his pillow so he can't use it to smother his boyfriend. He cursed the heavens for making him fall for a morning person instead of a nocturnal like himself.
“Beomgyu, come on,” Yeonjun said, hands ready on Beomgyu's arms. The younger could feel the bed dip before he was forcibly rolled over onto his back.
Beomgyu glared up at his boyfriend, who said with a grin, “Morning, beautiful! I found this pretty breakfast place in the area. It also has a really nice view. I think you'll love it.”
Beomgyu groaned, sitting up again. Yeonjun watched him in anticipation. Something about his eager look made Beomgyu soften. Yeonjun himself must have recently woken up. He was still in his tank top and pyjama pants. His hair had been roughly combed through with his fingers.
Beomgyu cupped his cheek with one hand, endeared by how Yeonjun leaned into his touch. He leaned in till their noses brushed and pressed a soft kiss onto Yeonjun’s lips.
Yeonjun’s eyes fluttered shut as he tentatively kissed back. Beomgyu smiled into it, pulling back just as the older tried to deepen it.
“Five more minutes,” Beomgyu told him, before grabbing his pillow and curling up once more. Blanket be damned. It's summer. The mornings weren't that cold anymore.
His peace was short lived when Yeonjun decided to throw himself onto Beomgyu. The younger let out an indignant huff while his boyfriend maneuvered himself around so he could blow Beomgyu’s ear. He giggled in delight when the younger visibly flinched and tried to scootch away.
“Are you going to get up?” Yeonjun asked, breath fanning Beomgyu’s ear.
“Hyung,” Beomgyu whined, trying to escape the older’s persistent ear blowing. He threw his elbow back but was only met with air and cackling when Yeonjun managed to avoid it. He cursed into his pillow and hoped that was enough to get the message across.
Unfortunately, Yeonjun was in his mischievous mood, which meant nothing short of being smacked in the face would stop him. He was already all over Beomgyu again in a hot second.
“Get up Beomgyu ah,” Yeonjun sang into his ear, while his fingers crept under Beomgyu’s shirt. “Oh, you’re warm.”
Beomgyu squirmed under the wandering hands and finally gave up on going back to sleep. He gently pushed Yeonjun back, who scooched back just enough to let him roll over to face him. His hand settled on Beomgyu’s lower back.
“Get up, get up, Beomgyu yah,” Yeonjun told him cheerfully.
Beomgyu groaned, squeezing his eyes shut. He attempted one last plea, “Five more minutes. Please, hyung.”
Yeonjun gently kissed those pouting lips and said, “No.”
With one last pat on the butt, Yeonjun sat up and started tugging Beomgyu up by the arm. “Come on, we have to get ready. I heard the warehouse sale is going to be crowded, so we should wear something comfortable. Hey, you said you wanted new shoes, right?”
Beomgyu rubbed his eyes as Yeonjun chattered on about their plans for the day. When the older man left the room to get ready, Beomgyu contemplated locking the door and going back to sleep.
As if sensing his thoughts, Yeonjun popped his head in, “Are you up yet?”
“Yeah, yeah,” Beomgyu yawned, but Yeonjun just stared at him expectantly. With a heavy sigh, Beomgyu forced himself to get off the bed. He threw his hands out for his boyfriend, who nodded approvingly before disappearing off to shower.
