Chapter Text
One day after Saparata's death.
Fluixon can’t quite believe it happened.
He used Saparata as a scapegoat. He paid off the judge. He rigged this trial. He made sure Saparata was found guilty. He made sure he would die.
And yet, it feels foreign to him, so far away. His brain doesn't process the fact that his best friend is dead. His lover is dead.
Saparata is dead.
He sits in his chambers, staring off into space, not believing this is actually happening. It was his plan all along, and now that it was finally coming together, he should be happy.
But he isn't.
He’s just hollow, like something inside him died alongside Saparata.
No one will suspect him now, the only person who knew the truth isn't with them anymore.
Why isn't he happy?!
Why does Saparata still hold so much control over his emotions?!
Why does he still plague his mind?
He distanced himself. He broke everything off. He had betrayed him with cold blood, not looking back.
Why does he even care what happened to Saparata?! He MADE sure it would. HE orchestrated it. He HAD PLANNED his execution.
Why?
Why?
WHY?
Two days after Saparata’s death.
Fluixon asked Thomas to acquire Saparata’s items. He doesn’t tell him why. He doesn't think about why he even needs it in the first place.
He just does. Nothing more, nothing less.
He just wants them. He doesn't want anyone else touching it. They don't deserve it.
He hides Saparata’s items in his basement. He doesn’t look at them. He doesn't inspect his belongings. He just puts them in a chest and continues his day, pretending it didn't happen.
Three days after Saparata’s death.
Fluixon can’t sleep.
No matter how hard he tries, he just can’t. And if he does fall asleep, he wakes up after 3 hours, drenched in sweat. His mind conjures gruesome images, not letting him sleep.
Saparata is not letting him sleep.
On another sleepless night, he goes to his basement and retrieves Saps’ items.
He doesn’t think about what he does. It doesn't make sense anyway.
He takes a boat and sails to Saparata’s vacation home.
Memories come crashing down on him. Starry nights, Saparata’s laughter. His lovely smile. His beautiful, snow-like hair.
The trap, the death.
The trial.
He hits his head, hoping it will stop the overflow of memories, the torture of his mind.
It doesn’t stop.
He builds Saparata a grave, knowing no one else would. Everyone believes he’s a traitor and a murderer now. But Fluixon knows. He knows .
He plucks lavender out of the overgrown garden Saparata once loved keeping so dearly.
Lavender. Saparata’s favourite flowers. He always smelled of lavender. Flux still can feel the faint fragrance of it in his house, now drenched in blood.
He puts them in a vase, right beside Saparata’s head.
He doesn’t look back at his creation.
It doesn’t soothe the pain in his ribs.
It doesn’t make breathing easier.
Four days after Saparata’s death.
Fluixon dreams about Saparta again. He dreams of the nights they shared. He wakes up confused, patting the other side of the bed.
It’s empty.
It has been for a while.
But he still remembers the soft texture of Saps’ hair. The way his breath felt against his skin. The way Saparata touched him, always so gentle, so unsure, so shy.
He misses him.
He knows now that the cold, heavy feeling inside his stomach is guilt.
He’s guilty.
He yearns to feel Saparata’s warmth again. To see him smile at him one more time.
He knows it's futile.
Saparata is dead. Nothing will change that now.
He’s the one who caused it.
Five days after Saparata’s death.
His comrades start to notice. He became sloppy, distracted.
He can’t sleep. It shows. He doesn't recognize himself in a mirror. The grace is long gone, replaced by hunched shoulders and dark bags under his eyes. His face became grainy, his cunning smile long gone.
He tells them everything’s alright, he just has trouble sleeping.
He visits Saparata’s grave for the first time since he built it.
He sits before it, numb.
He doesn’t know what to say to Saparata.
He doesn't feel like he deserves to sit there, disturbing Saps’ peace again.
Ten days after Saparata’s death.
Fluixon sits at Saparata’s grave again. Numb. Powerful, but powerless against his own emotions.
Time passes, but dreams have never given Fluixon the mercy of forgetting, of forgiving himself.
He feels justified in his actions as much as he feels guilty.
And he’s so fucking tired.
He sits there, gazes at the inscriptions he engraved into the stone.
He’s so fucking sorry.
He’s sorry it had to be this way. He’s sorry it had to be Saparata he betrayed.
He’s sorry for everything he made Saparata go through. His best friend. His lover. His soulmate.
He’s haunted. He’s haunted by the ghost of the past, by the echo of the future.
He starts to doubt himself. Was there really no other way?
Was there really no other way than destroying what he held dearest in his heart?
Did Saparata really have to die?
He doesn't know anymore.
Fifteen days after Saparata’s death.
People whisper.
He hears it.
It’s not his imagination.
They whisper about him again. They think he’s guilty.
They know. But how? He had worked so hard to cover up his traces.
He had killed his own best friend for it.
For people to never realize it was him.
Was it all for nothing?
He sits at Saparata’s grave again.
“I hate you, I HATE YOU!, Why?! Why, so many days after you died, you still make my life difficult?!” He shouts at the stone in front of him.
He cries.
He cries for the first time since Saparata had died.
He chokes on his tears, he can’t breathe, he can’t see. Grief is drowning him, more painfully than any other torture would. The ache in his heart is only growing. The hollowness of his mind spreading to his body.
“I’m sorry,” He whispers, “I’m so fucking sorry, Saps, for everything,” He chokes out, “You were right, I was so stupid to ever question your word,”
Why, only after you had died, did I realize my mistake?
Why did it take you losing your life to prove you were always right?
Fluxion puts his head on a tombstone, hoping that the ghost of Saparata will soothe him like he always did, even after everything he had made him go through. He knows what he did is unforgivable.
He still hopes Saparata will forgive him anyway.
Notes:
The next chapter is gonna have some comfort if you consider death freedom

Chapter Text
It’s over.
Fluixon stands at the edge of the windowsill of the Infernus castle, and it weighs down on him.
He had lost.
He doesn’t have anywhere to run. People are furious at him. Maybe rightfully so.
He is going to die today. It’s something hard to process in a moment, but he has known it for some time now.
Sure, he had hoped that by collaborating with Queen Cynikka, he would have a chance at surviving, but it was all but a drop in an ocean of doubt, of self-hatred.
Because even if he does survive, what then? All he had wanted was to protect Island Two, but the exact opposite happened.
They all hate him now. He hates himself too.
Innocent people are dying right now, all because of him, because of his foolish ideas.
Saparata died because of him.
All his comrades are probably dead too by now.
He doesn't try to avoid death this time. When someone hits him with an axe and pushes him out of the window, he doesn't try to save himself.
“May we reunite again in death, Saps,” He whispers to himself, before diving into a pool of lava, burning to death.
His time has come, and he accepts it, bearing the full responsibility of his actions.
He hopes the world would be a peaceful place without him.
He hopes that if the death realm exists, he can see Saparata again.
Thomas barely escaped death. When he saw Flux die, he understood this was truly over.
He escaped, but it doesn't matter. There’s a huge bounty on his head, and people will hunt him down sooner or later. But before his inevitable death, he wants to do one more thing: a proper memorial for his fallen friends.
He’s on his way to the final destination. He decided to put Flux’s grave in a different place from the rest. He has a feeling that’s what Flux would have wanted.
You see, he had noticed that Fluixon was never the same after the execution of Saparata. He’s not naive, he knows what it means. He wasn’t surprised, there was always something special about them. When they were together, they were always living in their own bubble, like the rest of the world didn’t exist. He used to laugh with his friends about it, about how hopeless Flux was around Saparata.
So he decided he was going to build Flux’s grave right next to Saparata’s.
It’s tragic, really, what has become of them. But Thomas remembers that there was a time they were just two happy, carefree men, glad to have found each other.
“May death bring you peace, Flux,” He says to himself, to the ghost of Flux in his memories. “Maybe you’ll find your soulmate again, as sappy as it sounds,” He laughs quietly, not wanting to disturb them. They deserve rest after everything that they have gone through.
