Chapter Text
Nadia sat in the car, ignoring her younger brother Aman, who was gaming on his phone, as usual. Instead of chatting to him, she was reading the texts in her friend group, called the Nyan Cats. It was a bit like this:
Sade - im so excited to see you all again!
Nadia K - this year is gonna be a BLAST!!
Nyx - whos already at Raven Hall
Alisha - Me
Mekenzie- me!!
Nyx - so am i! meet me at holl

Alisha - Okay
"Kids, nearly there! Get off your screens and get your things together!" Nadia's mum said, turning in her seat. "Aman. Are you listening to me you air headed child?" As her mum continued to mutter threats and insults under her breath, Nadia turned to look out of the window.
It was gonna be her third year at Raven Hall, and she was brimming with excitement. Especially since this year, she was finally allowed to go to the nearby town with her friends!
And then she finally saw it. Raven Hall, looming over them in all its grey stoned glory, surrounded by a dark endless forest. The car stopped in front of it and Nadia and Aman got out with their luggage.
"Yo Aman!"
Nadia turned her head to see a group - no gang - of boys strolling towards them. Her brother's group. They called themselves the Guardians, of what she wasn't sure of, and she was sure they had no idea either. And the last people on Earth she wanted to see.
Aman disappeared with them, and Nadia decided that disappearing was a good idea as well, simply to save herself from a never-ending lecture from her parents.
As she walked, she spotted her best friend Lin at the steps to the school's giant oak doors, complete with pastel purple headphones. With a sneaky grin, Nadia crept towards her.
"Boo!" she exclaimed, tapping Lin on her back. Lin turned, looking slightly annoyed. Nadia stared up at her. "Did you get even taller?!" she exclaimed.
"Nah, you just shrank," Lin replied, with a slight smirk, before walking in. Nadia followed her, buzzing enthusiastically.
They walked the ridiculously long distance to their assigned dorm rooms, where Nyx was waiting for them. "Hii guys! I saw you on my way to the hall and decided to wait for you! Put your things away and lets go there!"
Nadia nodded with a half smile, and pushed the door to her room. Her dormmate, Nizrana, was already perched on her bed, arranging her makeup. She looked up as Nadia walked in. "Hi Nadia!" she smiled, before going back to her makeup.
"Hey Nizrana," Nadia replied, dumping her bags on her bed, and then exited. Lin and Nyx were waiting for her, and the three made their way to the hall.
The coridoors were filled to the brim with hyper students, and Nadia got shoved. Luckily, she got shoved into Lin instead of the more undesirable floor. "Be careful," Lin said, glancing down at her.
"Of course I am," Nadia said, slightly caught off guard. Nyx grabbed the two and ran off.
Eventually, they reached the hall. The air conditioning hit them like a brick, reminding Nadia that England was drowning them in a heatwave, cooking them alive.
'It's so cold!' Three whined. Nadia had alters due to OSDD - she knew they should name themselves, but she named them after numbers.
'Better to freeze to death than boil alive,' Four added cheerily. Nadia ignored them and the goosebumps on her arms, and followed Nyx and Lin.
"Nadia! Nyx! Lin! Over here!"
Spinning on her heel, Nadia saw Alisha, Mekenzie, and Sade standing by the door. Perfect.
As the walked towards them, she knew that the year was going to be unforgettable.
