Grottos and Gargoyles was a fine art.
Well, not really. But to Chance it was. The D20 always took it seriously. Meticulous planning of storylines, hours designing characters, NPC dialogue, it all took a toll on him in the end. This was another one of those days.
He had been making character sheets for the past two hours. Each character, with their own unique class and backstory, took him longer than he'd like to admit to make. He was obviously high strung from all of this. Then his anxiety got to him. A nagging, awful voice in the back of his head that he couldn't shake. It started spewing awful words, like how he's wasting his time or how nobody would show up to his games.
He began to spiral. Would nobody really show up? Was he wasting his time? Was this all for nothing and he's simply a geek lying to himself about people enjoying his company?
He would've gone further into his mind if it wasn't for footsteps and a familiar voice calling out.
"Chance! You there?" Parker questioned.
Chance snapped out of his negative mindset and looked over to his boyfriend. "Hey Park." He said weakly.
Parker made a face at him. "You're upset. What's wrong?"
Chance sighed. "Nothing worth note. Just got into my head again."
Parker sat down next to Chance, resting his head on the dice's shoulder. "That's no good. You do that a lot."
"It's a hard habit to break. Did you need something?"
"No." Parker said, looking up. "I just wanted to see you." He gave a small smile.
Chance blushed and looked away, which got a laugh from Parker. He developed a kinder face. "What were you thinking about?"
Chance looked down at the floor, blushing once again. "I.." He took a breath. "I was worried that nobody would show up and that I was wasting my time. It's silly, I know, but I still got scared."
At that, Parker took one of Chance's hands. "I get that. If it helps, I'll be there. I always will. You know I love your games." He placed a kiss on the other's hand, which got a smile from the die.
"Yeah. Thanks, Park. That helps a bit." Chance smiled. He hugged Parker close, who proceeded to pepper his face with kisses, much to Chance's surprise and amusement.
Parker placed one final chaste kiss on Chance's lips. "No problem. Hey, did I tell you about that intense game of Uno Holly and I were playing?"
Chance laughed. "You didn't. I'm curious."
Parker went on into a story of the fierce Uno game. Chance listened intently, but a part of him felt at ease knowing that he'd always have someone there for him. Maybe he wasn't as dislike as his brain told him.
