Work Text:
After a long month of flashing and chasing around wild plot bunnies, the residents of the Flash Fiction Metaverse Mansion get to cleaning: stray writing utensils, crumbs out of keyboards, excessively wordy inkblots of stories made too long for the event, and even the stray banana peel leftover from the Bananamancer's annual appearance.
"I think I need a banana-quit," says Windy, poking at a rogue banana peel.
No one is surprised when Snickie barges in the revolving door, despite how long it has been since her last appearance. What they are surprised by is the cloud of birds following in her wake, causing everyone to scramble in panic that the imminent birdshit storm would jeopardize their chances of getting back their deposits.
"Snickie!" Kiri shouts.
"Did somebody say bananaquits?" says Snickie, hefting a bright red suitcase and dumping its contents into the middle of the floor.
"Snickie, what have you done!?" cries Wizard as her remaining plot bunnies scamper away from the suitcase spectacle.
"I brought extra bath towels."
The silence that immediately follows her statement is interrupted only by the scuttling noises of plot bunny feet on the laminate flooring and the small birds flitting from furniture to furniture.
"Why are you staring at me like that?"
"Why did you bring all these birds?"
"Listen, I've spent far too long this month languishing in a chaise lounge knitting hats and trying to get my new cats to love me, so I thought I'd come out of retirement and end the month properly, but then my hot water heater broke and I need a shower, so now I have more reasons to be here."
Kiri frowns. "That doesn’t explain the birds."
Snickie ignores Kiri, picks up a towel and some pajamas from the pile, and heads to the bathroom.
Quixotic snickers. "She didn't need to bring all those towels; we have plenty available."
