Where do you start and where do I end?

Summary:

Akechi and Saiki waking up together.

Notes:

Ahah, thank my unrequited crushes for this. The jealousy/yearning hit me hard and suddenly I had the urge to write pure fluff.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

The silence of the morning was Akechi’s favourite.

Nothing he had to think about, nothing he had to scrutinize, just pure, uninterrupted time of absentminded staring at his boyfriend. His soft features, relaxed, lacking their usual controlled blankness. His pink hair, ruffled and unruly, a sight he assured no one besides Akechi saw. A privilege he never let go to waste, from the moment he woke up, to the moment his boyfriend’s hair was combed through, he cherished the sight that blessed him daily.

Akechi stared at Saiki next to him, perfect and still and calm and not for the first time, he wanted. He wanted him so much he ached, despite being inches away from him. Despite him finally having him.

An overwhelming feeling of love and desperation threatening to spill over as he stared. He didn’t reach out. Not because he couldn’t, not because Saiki would stop him if he did, but because he still had a few moments of the undisturbed peace before Saiki woke up and he lost any of that softness again.

Occasionally, watching him without reaching out sparked an uncomfortable feeling of nostalgia of being back in high school, when he wasn’t able to keep a hold on him, when he wasn’t sure sure how much longer he could keep weaselling himself into his plans. When he was unsure of how to keep him in his life.

It became too much too quickly and Akechi decided to satisfy his need to reach out, slipping his hand into Saiki’s palm, revelling in the warmth he found there. It reminded him that Saiki was with him in the here and now, no longer too far to reach. Close enough to hold.

At the feeling of another hand holding his, Saiki slowly opened his eyes. He didn’t hesitate to overlap Akechi’s hand with his own and a small, subtle smile graced his face. Akechi was glad to have witnessed such a rare sight first thing in the morning.

Saiki opened his eyes, the purple Akechi fell in love with from his early childhood no longer hiding behind green-tinted glasses like they were when they reunited again. After Saiki had finally accepted his powers, wholly and completely, he began to gain better control over them, allowing for moments like these.

Moments where the mere sight of his eyes was enough for Akechi to fall in love all over again.

“Good morning.” Saiki’s expression didn’t shift, but Akechi could tell he was amused.

“Good morning, Kusuo.” Akechi smiled, bringing his other hand up to caress Saiki’s cheek.

“Is there a reason you’re so sappy first thing in the morning?” Saiki asked even though he could easily get his answer. He liked to hear Akechi explain.

Akechi didn’t indulge him this morning though, instead leaning forward, and after getting silent permission, kissing him long and slow.

Saiki reciprocated easily, something Akechi could never have thought possible in high school, before Saiki accepted his accidental confession in their final year of high school. It was still hard for him to believe.

Saiki, on the other hand, was managing Akechi’s overwhelming love and affection as it hit him full-force. Even as Akechi broke off their kiss, rolling on top of him and hugging him, Saiki was left with a light, floaty, not unpleasant feeling surrounding him.

Now with the ability to control the feelings he was feeling and their intensity through his connection, he chose to allow for a steady flow as he let Akechi sink into him.

Experiencing feelings through others was always odd, but by now, Saiki had gotten used to Akechi’s and their fervour. Like everything about him, their relentlessness managed to somehow be charming.

He felt like he was a heavy stone in a fast-flowing river, content to be caught in the middle of Akechi’s flood of emotions.

Saiki sighed, relaxing into the warmth of Akechi’s affection the longer they shared senses.

A content hum came from his boyfriend.

“Do we want to get up to start the day?” Akechi asked, mumbling against Saiki’s chest, clearly not wanting to move. Saiki could tell it was more a question on whether he needed a break from Akechi’s feelings.

“Not yet.” Saiki spoke quietly, pulling Akechi a little closer and allowing them both to melt into each other.

Saiki certainly couldn’t tell where he began and Akechi ended.

He wouldn’t have it any other way.
