It’s by the time they’re a good half-mile into the trail, after they’ve already spotted various colorful birds that Chief Cultivator Nie would very likely try to catch and take home with him if given the opportunity and a family of deer Zizhen had pointed out to him, that Jin Ling really starts to feel it. The weight sitting in his lower tummy had already been bothersome for a good bit, since well before they left out from his home, but it was still manageable, then, at least. It’s a heavy sort of pressure, the kind that aches just slightly between his hips with fullness and that makes him feel almost tingly beneath his trousers. His face feels flushed, hot, despite the brisk spring air around them, the cool breeze running through his hair and tickling at the nape of his neck. He takes a deep breath, willing himself to keep on walking down the otherwise empty trail as he helplessly follows Zizhen’s lead.
