Chapter Text
It was dark, too dark. It was the kind that was all encompassing, suffocating. That’s how Nico felt, chest tight, breaths uneven. The seams of his clothes were to much, his eyes burned and his tears streamed. Everything felt as if it was collapsing inwards.
The familiar fuzziness tickled his ears and Nico used every bit of energy he possessed to try to suppress it but that only made him feel worse. He felt sick and cold and alone.
Just as another sob shook his body a gentle knock sounded on his cabin door, it was will, he’d just finished his shift in the infirmary. Nico whimpered and reached out for the only light in this all encompassing darkness.
“Hey baby…nightmare?”
The son of hades just nodded, it was all he could manage at the moment. Will cradled his boyfriend in his arms and slowly rocked them back and forth. When Nico’s sobs eventually quietened to hiccups and soft whimpering the blond haired boy whispers.
“Are you little Neeks?”
The glossy brown eyes that looked up at the son of Apollo confirmed that. The shorter boy curled into his warm boyfriends chest while the taller ran his fingers through Nico’s wavy black locks.
“Shinyyyyy”
The hades boy whined around his thumb that had tucked itself between his lips at some point
“I wuv you”
Will could’ve melted right there, nothing was cuter that little Nico.
“I love you too baby bat”

They stayed like that for a least another hour, Nico’s barely coherent babbling the only noise between them. It was way past midnight now and you could tell, Will was beyond exhausted, he did a 14 hour shift in the infirmary and when he came home Nico was showing no signs of settling but he wouldn’t change it for the world. Having his baby cuddled in his side while they chatted about any random topic they could think of was exactly how Will would gladly spend every evening for the rest of his life. As Nico’s eyes drooped Will replaced the littles thumb with his favourite black paci and drifted off to sleep himself.
