Words of Affirmation
Thranduil may be cold outside but deep down he has a soft spot with him, too. He would tell you small compliments that will make your entire day. One of your favorites is "You look lovely, my dear," it's short but it can make you blush like a fool. He doesn't say it often so hearing it always makes you smile. Other times, he would casually say "You know your smile brightens up my day? You should wear it often for your king," and he doesn't know how his words brightens up your day. When you're arguing, he likes to say "Even though I love to see you make such a fuss over silly things, I'm afraid I hate to see you upset even more. Be still, meleth-nin. My heart is yours to keep. Only you can hurt me if you wish," and you would just melt. Sometimes he likes to leave love letters when you wake up and find him missing beside you in your bed. You'll just find a small piece of letter with his handwriting, saying things like "Do not worry. A meeting requires my presence early this morning. I will come back to you as soon as I can," and you would go back to sleep smiling.
Acts of Service
He may be thousands of years old but he knows how to treat a girl right. He will see you struggling to train with guards and he would allot time for you to train with him as your teacher. And boy did you learn how to kill an Orc right. Or the way he effortlessly lifts you onto your horse when he sees you struggling, as if it’s the most natural thing in the world. He would do that every time since he saw you struggle that one time. As a girl who loves to read, you always brought a stack of books from the library to your room. He saw you one time almost fell down the stairs holding them. The next time you visit the library, a cart was made for you to put your books on. It has wheels. And it can be pushed around. Anywhere. It has your name on its handle. After a conflict, you said to him that you didn't like how he doesn't sleep at all. You're worried he's working himself too much. The next day, he listened to you and actually slept the whole day beside you in your bed. And you just watched his steady breathing and smile to yourself. Because who else can make the great Elvenking sleep on command but you?
Giving Gifts
Oh, he loves giving gifts. It was as normal as breathing for him. He'll bring you everything. One time you woke up with the most amazing smell and you saw a burning candle beside your table with a note from him. When you're in a party and he saw you looking at an elleth with the most beautiful dress, he gave you one the next day. And it was much more beautiful than that elleth's dress. He also likes to give you jewelries. Like a clip made of gems. That you actually rarely use because you're too afraid that it would fall while you're walking or training. One time he gave you a new set of knives for your hunting day. It was extraordinary. Sometimes he would give random gifts like books, a new quill, a new quiver for your arrows, a pair of boots—literally anything. It would just randomly appear in your room and you just knew that it was from him. The most priceless gift that he gave you was a circlet. It was so beautiful that you cried seeing it. There was a gem in the middle that sits on your forehead when worn. It was the same color as your eyes. When you thanked him, crying, he just shrugged, which made you smile and cry more at the same time.
Quality Time
For a king, he was never always busy. There were days that you could not even see the end of his robes because of how busy he was but most of the time, he's always in your room. Doing nothing. Just laying in your bed, reading scrolls and books as you do the same. Or sometimes you tell him a story from your past. Most of it were funny stories because you love hearing him laugh. Sometimes he tells you a story. But it's rare. Just when he's in the mood. Other times you would nap together (it's actually just you taking a nap while he watches you). One day he accompanied you when you said that you would turn over the books that you borrowed from the library. You read there together as elves and elleth alike stare at their king casually reading in one of the benches beside you. One time, your favorite, you asked him if you could visit the gardens. He actually said yes and you cannot believe it. You picked flowers in the gardens and made bouquets. He actually knows how to make a good one. You even made him sit to braid his hair and put flowers in it. And he does the same to you. You both walked back inside with a garden of flowers in your hair.
Physical Touch
He loves physical touch. He would just hold your hands randomly while walking. Sometimes when he's doing some work, he would ask you to sit beside him. Then five minutes later you're on his lap. Playing with his hair while he signs some scrolls. Most of the time it was the smallest touch. Like a random pushing of your hair away from your face, trailing his fingers over your arms, and playing with your hair. He loves to braid your hair. He can do it everyday if he likes and you won't even complain. Because who would? Your favorite was when he cuddles you at night. He can't sleep without hugging you. He won't sleep at all if you're not touching. You would just sigh contentedly on his neck as you feel his soft breathing in yours.
