   Summary

   A prequel to Fourth Wing.

Catriona Cordella has known all her life that she’ll marry Xaden Riorson. Its her purpose, her patriotic duty in a time of war. She’s prepared to dazzle him with her beauty and elegance, but what if that’s not what he wants?

Xaden needs a partner. Unlike most at Basgiath, he knows the venin are real, and that they’re coming. He needs a partner who’s smart, strong, and capable. For the sake of his father, he’ll consider a marriage to Cat, but he’s not convinced it’s what he and Tyrrondor need today.

Will they become what each other needs? Or will they bounce off each other, like an arrow off a shield?
