Work Text:
The shadow of the dragon falls upon them, inspiring dread in even the bravest soul.
Once, not too long ago, the appearance of a dragon would’ve been welcomed; their aid a boon to everyone. But those dragons now lie motionless, their hides stripped of their scales, or else have disguised themselves and hidden away in remote corners of the land.
And their butcher flies overhead, his scales stained black with the curse he’s chosen, their luster dulled and scorched by fires not his own. A sad and pitiful sight, but those that flee his fire have no pity to spare.
