Chapter Text
Gwi-Ma: The world will know you as demons but you will be more than that. You will be my loyal subjects. (personal slaves) Long ago we ruled over Korea in the Joseon-era until 3 belligerent(hostile/ugly) women came together to create the beginning of our downfall, the Honmoon, the seal that starves us, leaves us here to rot, in the depths of the underworld. 1 year ago we almost broke through the Honmoon, and took over what was once rightfully our’s, until that coward Jinu betrayed us, and aided the hunters… but you, you have proven to be loyal.. and you will be rewarded…
In front of him were 5 figures in black clothing beneath him.
1 year ago during the Idol Awards Performance in a forest near the stadium.
2 female demons crawled off the crack in Honmoon covered in dirt and coughing.
One was a siren like water demon with fins. A little out of place compared to the other demons with her notably brown skin and south Asian features While the other was a kumiho with fox ears and three tails leaning more towards the traditional Korean look. The siren like one spoke first.
Min-ah: *bleh - spits out dirt* Wow the Saja Boys really did it.
The two looked out at the landscape of Seoul, the blue strands of the Honmoon slowly wavered in strength and magenta gaps grew more numerous by the second.
Hoon-ah: We haven’t been free for over a decade. *Tears began to well up in her eyes.* said the Kumiho looking one, as she followed Min-ah to the surface.
The two inhaled the crisp-night breeze.
Min-ah: You know what I’m thinking?
Hoon-ah: What?
Min-ah: I wish we were at the-
Both: SAJA BOYS CONCERT!
Hoon-ah: Oh my goodness! I KNOW. I would’ve loved to see the Mystery Hyu-I mean Oppa in person!
Min-ah: I know and Abby is just so…. EUGHAHHH
The two laughed and lay in the grass until the sound of hikers slowly approached. There was a couple both in their 40’s, and sadly they weren’t strangers, whispering behind a few trees.
Stranger 1: I-Is that M-min-ah and H-hoon-ah?
Stranger 2: I-I think it is but why are they in costumes?
Stranger 1: Wait, but they were dead for years…we went to their FUNERAL! How could they be a-alive.
Hoon-ah’s ears twitched, hearing just the faintest whisper of a voice as she slapped Min-ah’s shoulder.
Hoon-ah: *Shhhhhhhhhh* I.. I think someone’s nearby. Get your weapons ready, it could be the hunters.
*Suddenly their weapons materialized in a cloud of magenta flames*
Min-ah summoned her whips while Hoon-ah readied her bracelets and anklets. They stood up and gazed into the forest.
Min-ah: “Hunters, reveal yourselves, or we will use force.”
Hoon-ah: *elbows Min-ah* (whispering) What the hell are you doing?! You know we can’t win against them, just get ready to run.
Suddenly the two strangers stepped out.
Stranger 1: Min-ah… Hoon-ah is that you?
A thousand thoughts ran through the two’s minds.
Hoon-ah and Min-ah: (internally) No.. out of anyone it could’ve been why’d it have to be those two?
The two were immediately thrown back into trainee days, when they were human. Before everything went wrong and they died. When they were failed idols, with those two strangers, their group mates.
Stranger 1: Min-ah it’s me you know. Bo-rah! We were a part of that girl group 20 years ago, remember? Why did you fake your death, and where have you been?
Stranger 2: And Hoon-ah you remember me right? Daejung? Remember Bah-dor, we were part of the boy group too, and just for the record I always supported you, do you guys have amnesia or something like that?
Min-ah: B-bo-rah? No we didn’t fake our deaths…you sure you’re not schizophrenic.
Hoon-ah: Yeah, we’re just hallucinations! Divine warning turns back now before it’s too late.
*The two began shaking their arms in a mockingly ghost-like way.*
Min-ah and Hoon-ah: (internally) Please leave, please leave, we don’t want to kill you.
Bo-rah: No we’re not leaving, and we know you're real. Come on, we're taking you guys to a hospital to get checked. Daejung called the police.
Daejung: On it. *pulls out his phone
Hoon-ah: *sighs* Ok Min-ah we’ll have to do this.
The two share a somber glance.
The next day there were two missing posters plastered on Bo-rah and Daejung's apartment.
Back to the present 1 year after the Idol Awards Incident
Gwi-ma: Min-ah and Hoon-ah stand up.
The two stood up silently.
Gwi-ma: The two of you loyally stole souls for me from people you loved prior. You are already better than… Jinu. But… I will not repeat the same mistake twice. I will offer you two contracts. Min-ha you will have the power to allure fans with your voice and manipulate them with this contract with every word you speak the more the fans will follow you.
Suddenly on Min-ah’s neck and wrists a new pattern formed, like handcuffs, a constant reminder of the contract.
Gwi-ma: Hoon-ah. I know your shame with your voice which is why with this contract, for taking a part of a soul you take you can take the voice of a mortal. Use it wisely.
Similarly on Hoon-ah’s neck and wrists handcuff patterns formed as well.
Gwi-ma: If either of you. Betray me, just like that fool, then I will see to it myself that you two are burned in my eternal flame and absorbed into me. Am. I. Clear?
Min-ah and Hoon-ah: Yes sir
Now you three…
Gwi-ma: Mei-Yun you will have the power to create illusions similar to mine and Ha-Byung you will have the power of invisibility, to hide, and deceive. I trust you two will use it well.
He first pointed to a more Chinese looking girl when speaking to Mei-Yun who appeared more confident than worried to be going into the human world. On the other hand when he pointed to Ha-Byung, the much more timid girl seemed to be shivering from fear.
The two other women bowed deeply before their own chain patterns appeared.
Gwi-ma: Ih-seul, you are my last hope after Jinu. You’ve been just as long as him and have much more loyalty so I will put you in charge of this operation. I will grant you the power to create your own copies of yourself. Be my eyes into the human world.
Ih-seul: I will not fail you, my King.
She was tall, confident, and her eyes seemed completely devoid of any fear. In a large flowing Hanbok she stood up and looked directly at the magenta flames that comprised Gwi-ma’s essence. Almost defiantly.
Gwi-ma: now go, and defeat the hunters once and for all, and remember betrayal means.
Suddenly within all 5 of the girls visions of Jinu, slowly dissolving into Gwi-ma’s flame flashed within their minds. They could feel the heat in their skin, the burning all over their body, and the weight of the punishment that awaited them. Only if they deserted of course.
The five vanished in a cloud of pink smoke with the leagues of demons cheering. Hoping that this time would be different.
