Work Text:
Louis had been at the beach all day together with his friends. It had been a sunny day, no clouds in sight and the water was warm.
Now the sky had turned grey and he could feel the first sprinkles of rain as they started to pack up their stuff.
Most people were leaving which gave more room for the cute little duckies to take over the beach.
A sudden flash lit up the sky and then came the bang. The thunder echoed over the lake. The sky turned dark fast. Ominous grey clouds, turning almost black.
Then he heard the screams.
People were dropping all their stuff and running for their lives.
A bone chilling screech shook him to the core.
That’s when he saw it. The blood red eyes and the sharp teeth in their beaks. Those were not cute duckies. Those were killer monsters growing larger and ready to attack.
Louis tried to run but he was stuck. His feet didn’t move. Like they had been cemented to the ground.
His friends ran. Like everyone else. Trying to get away from the monsters.
He was left alone. Staring into the red eyes as they came closer. More emerged from the lake by the second. All ready to attack. All ready to eat him alive.
Louis tried to scream but no sound left his mouth. Frozen in place with no voice, he watched them closing in.
He looked up, heard the thunder, saw the flashes. The screech came closer. All he could do was watch, feeling the tears stream down his face. Waiting for the inevitable, when a hand wrapped around his wrist and pulled him away. He was dragged away, knees scraping against the ground. But he remembered the touch.
It was Harry.
“Lou,” he heard Harry’s voice in the distance. “Lou, babe. It’s just a dream. I’m here. You’re safe.”
“No killer duckies?” Louis asked, still half asleep, scared to the bones.
“No killer duckies,” Harry replied softly and wrapped his arms around him.
