Aziraphale wasn't one to usually sleep in.
Sleep, in general.
He would prefer to appreciate and spend that time of the night reading like he didn't have all the time in the world. Until they moved into the cottage.
At first, when they made their feelings official for each other and Crowley started to stay in the bookshop, the habit would remain the same. Reading every night, maybe with a demon launched over his lap snoring peacefully.
But sometimes (times that could be counted with the fingers of one hand alone) the angel let himself relax slightly into the mattress and lay down next to Crowley. It was always a comfortable and pleasurable moment, but he didn't find a "something" to it.
That is, once again, until moving into the cottage.
Aziraphale would start to relax back more days than he did in the bookshop, maybe not sleeping at all of the time, but just closing his eyes and holding the demon close. And that's when the habit of reading all the nights started to slightly fade away.
He woke up to a bright light shining through the window's curtains. He reached a hand to rub one of his eyes gently, before opening them.
Crowley wasn't there. Aziraphale felt a slight, deep worry on his chest. Why wasn't Crowley there? He thought. Crowley was always the one who woke up secondly between them.
He looked over at the clock on his night stand. "10:37" it said. Aziraphale let out a breath he didn't know he had been holding. It was quite late. He stood up, throwing on the first thing he could so he wouldn't freeze walking naked around the house.
He made his way downstairs, looking around. The demon didn't seem to be in the living room. He reached for the kitchen's door, peeking.
Oh, there he was, finally. Aziraphale sighed in relief. The demon was leaning over the countertop, apparently making coffee. He looked a bit tired, but he had definitely used a miracle to fix up his hair the slightest bit. Next to the cups that were waiting for the liquid, was a plate filled with some toast.
Crowley looked behind himself. His expression softened as he saw Aziraphale. "Hello." He said in a soothing, quiet tone. "Bit tired this morning, aren't we?" He gave Aziraphale a soft grin as he walked up to him.
The angel couldn't help but smile, reaching for Crowley as well. "Don't know what came after me." He giggled softly, hugging the demon good morning. "You scared the life out of me, dear.”
"Oh, come on, angel. I just wanted to make you some breakfast. Is bread that scary?”
Aziraphale grinned, giving Crowley a kiss on the cheek. "Did you shower? Your hair's wet."
"Yeah." Crowley giggled softly, returning the kiss. "Like the feeling of it. Feels nice."
"Looks nice, too." Aziraphale smiled. Crowley couldn't help but roll his eyes. "Wait, what's that smell..?" The angel muttered, looking down.
"Crowley, the coffee!”
