MidTown High School- Queens, New York;
“Easy tiger,” Stina whispered against Jensi’s lips, her back against a wall in the furthest corner of the library, fingers combing through his messy hair. Despite the natural bedhead, Jensi’s hair was always so soft and nice to run through, especially in situations like these.
“Stina,” he whined, barely able to keep his voice below a whisper. This was just the effect Stina seemed to have on him, the spectacular Spider-Man was nothing but gentle mush in the palm of her hand.
It wasn’t exactly her MO to sneak around during study hall and make out in the back of the bookshelves but there was just something so irresistible about seeing Jensi with his dorky little librarian’s assistant lanyard and his sweet smile. If she could, she’d just kiss him from the moment she saw him and knowing this school, they’d probably praise her for having such revolutionary ideas about female desire and teenage sexual freedom. Mid-Town had a habit of applauding the most idiotic behaviors and punishing the wrong people. Stina was certain she could get away with murder even if she did it mid-homecoming nomination!
Jensi let out that perfect sound as he surged forward to deepen the kiss and Stina wasn’t about to protest. While she wasn’t one to publicly parade around her affections, this was the most normal her life had been since Jensi became the web slinging superstar. Dates and school dances, cute study sessions and afternoon naps in each other's arms always got interrupted by some new bad guy or crazy disaster. Stina learned to take advantage of small moments like these.
But of course if someone caught them…
Stina sighed as she gently tapped Jensi on the shoulder and he stopped almost immediately. Those beautiful, gentle eyes looked up at her with a mix of worry and curiosity, wondering why she used their signal for ‘stop’. Stina had to rein herself in to stop from kissing that look off his face as she cleared her throat and looked around them.
“We probably shouldn’t get too ahead of ourselves,” Stina whispered. Sure the only nosy person with a camera was standing right in front of her but it wasn’t an entirely bad idea to remain cautious.
Jensi nodded, a similar disappointment in his body language as he took a look around himself.
“Yeah,” he muttered, unable to mask how he felt and Stina kind of liked that. Jensi was always honest with how he felt. He wasn’t always super honest with who he was but that came with the territory of being a superhero. Not everyone got to know your secret double life.
Stina straightened his shirt and moved his lanyard back in place, smiling at his dorky I.D. picture as she moved her efforts up towards his hair where she smoothed out the more unruly bits. Not that it was easy to spot, Jensi’s chronic bedhead was indomitable. But as she looked at his curls, his freckles, his dimpled smile, Stina found it harder and harder to stick to her word.
Ugh, but PDA is so lame!
Stina groaned and sighed and Jensi raised a brow, nodding his head to ask what was up. Stina poked his chest and Jensi’s brow furrowed before he understood her delma. Of course, in typical Jensi fashion he just beamed at her like he won the lottery. What was with teenage boys and being way too proud of themselves when their girlfriends really want to kiss them but can’t was a phenomena that needed to be studied. She tried her best to glare at him but Jensi had built up an immunity to her looks and Stina, sadly, lost all abilities to kill with her eyes when it came to Jensi.
“You’re being smug again Babblos,” Stina grumbled as Jensi chuckled. He gave her a wink as his dimples taunted her.
“Sorry my super hot girlfriend thinks I’m irresistible.” He said, still barely keeping his voice low. Stina frowned and flicked a rouge curl as Jensi giggled and wrapped his arms around her, settling for a hug as Stina melted into the gesture. And even though they had just been making out, the hug felt so much more intimate somehow. Making out in random places was a teenage staple of high school; gentle, heart-fluttering, love-filled hugging was something else entirely. Stina was sure her face would set off the fire alarms from how hot it felt as she buried her face in his hair, tentatively holding him closer as she shut her eyes and really prayed no one would catch her now.
“Oh,” A voice muttered and Stina cursed the stupid universe as she opened her eyes to see Tam Song.
Stina lifted her head as Jensi jumped with surprise and whirled around to face Tam as Linh popped out from behind him and giggled.
“Called it,” She smiled as she skipped around her twin brother and put her hands on her hips.
“I’m just glad it was only hugging.” Tam shrugged as he crossed his arms.
Well I was about to kiss him some more until someone decided to ruin my moment.
Stina rolled her eyes at dumb and dumber as she mimicked Tam’s stance and crossed her arms. Jensi she might not be able to glare at but these two? Piece of cake.
“And you two idiots are bothering me, why?” Stina groused as Linh just kept grinning and even Tam gave her a small smirk.
“Study hall ends in two minutes.” Tam said. Stina was the one smirking now as she grabbed Jensi’s wrist and showed his watch.
“The clock is ahead by three. I’ve got five minutes.”
Linh looked like she was hyperventilating while trying not to burst out laughing. Sure it wasn’t Stina’s best defense but what else could she say after missing half of Study Hall to hang out with Jensi? Sometimes it felt like only a miracle was keeping Stina as queen bee of this stupid high school.
“I should uh, probably put these books away.” Jensi mumbled as he rubbed the back of his neck. His face was flushed pink and he wouldn’t look anyone in the eye as he reached for his book cart.
“You’re forgetting something,” Stina teased as she took a step with him and as Jensi turned to look at her, confusion written all over his handsome features. Stina figured she may as well use up her three minutes well and dipped Jensi into one hell of a kiss.

“I hate when we have to lockdown,” Marella complained as she popped open a can of soda. Stina was sure one of these days Marella would qualify for either diabetes or an addiction to the fizzy drink but somehow she managed to scrape by for now. The whole school was gathered inside the cafeteria going under lockdown as the news blared from the big screen TV the school had installed last spring. It usually just displayed whatever dorky event was coming up next or the morning announcements but on special occasions such as right now, the teachers would switch to the actual TV channels and show Spider-Man’s latest fight.
“Tell me about it,” Maruca agreed as she suddenly stepped on the table leg and the underside bashed against Stina’s shaking knee. Stina hissed and curled her fists under the table as Maruca gave her a strange look. Maruca raised her head slightly, a question in her eyes as Stina looked away. The biggest downside to having Spider-Man as a boyfriend, besides worrying every time he left to fight, was the lies. Stina never liked lying too much especially when it came to her friends.
But it was dangerous to tell people Jensi’s secret identity. Stina was one of the small handful of people who knew and included in that handful had been Jensi’s ex-best friend Valin Osborn. That had ended for Jensi about as well as one could imagine after Valin and his father turned out to be super villains. Valin, unknowingly manipulated into cosplaying his father’s villainous double life and Mr. Osborn was all too happy to let his son take the blame and play the regretful father ridden with guilt over putting his company before his son and blinding himself to Valin’s growing neglect and jealousy over the Green Project.
Valin was now in a super secret government facility going through rehab over his addiction to the Green. Or at least that's what Jensi had learned. There was no telling if Valin would ever be the same again or if he’d ever be able to live a semi-normal life.
So Stina couldn’t tell a soul about Jensi, not unless Jensi gave her the go-ahead and Stina trusted the person with her life. And while Maruca did fill out the latter, the former qualification was another thing entirely.
Queens Museum-Queens, New York:
“Have you ever been around the world in 80 days?” Spider-Man shouted, managing to catch Sandman in a solid enough state to hit the guy. “How about 8 seconds!”
Sandman went flying, particles of sand spraying outwards as he banged against the Unisphere. He smashed right into Russia and as the massive metal globe provided little to hold on to in terms of sand, Sandman was forced to remain in his more solid state and then some as he struggled around the miniature Earth beneath his feet.
“Why you!” Sandman raged and crouched down, ready to fling himself towards Spider-Man as Jensi stood in place and shrugged.
“What? I thought you said you needed a vacation? Is Russia not your style?” He laughed and moved to stand in a ready stance. “Come here and I’ll try punting you to the tropics. How do you feel about Brazil?”
“AAAAUGH!!”
And with so little taunting Sandman launched himself right at Spider-Man without really taking into account the fountain heads surrounding the globe. The spout turned on right on time and the sudden jet of water sliced right through Sandman’s more dusty form. With a shout the villain crumbled slightly and tried to back away as water started to cover the floor and sky. The perfect watery prison.
“Damn it! DAMN IT!” Sandman raged as he scurried back up the metal globe to get away from the water.
“Looks like this sandcastle is washed,” Spider-Man noted and walked over to the trees surrounding the path around the Unisphere where he’d webbed up Sandman's latest heist gone wrong for safe keeping.
“You quip to yourself?” A voice asked and Spider-Man whirled around to see a familiar X themed uniform.
“Ultra-Luminary!” Spider-Man said surprised as he put his hands on his hips. “Don’t tell me you’re a big fan of taking the art home too?”
“No,” The girl smiled and shook her head. Spider-Man climbed up the tree and retrieved the art piece as Ultra-Luminiary stood by and waited. She was possibly around his age but it was hard to really tell when it came to the X-Men. There were many branching teams for the X-Men and they often mingled with each other depending on the severity of the mission but to see them here.
“I don’t mean to sound territorial but as a spider I’d kinda like to know what’s crawling on my web.” Spider-Man said as he walked back over to the (possibly) teenage superhero as Ultra-Luminary smiled that brilliant, blinding smile of hers and brushed back her brown hair that seemed to come out of a shampoo commercial.
“That piece you’re holding is by a mutant artist,” Ultra explained as she gestured to the silk wrapped miniature statue. Spider-Man carefully moved away the webbing to reveal two men shaking hands, both looked human but one had an X pin on his chest. The sign of the X-Men or to others, the sign of a mutant.
“When we heard that a mutant piece was going to be held here we figured we’d keep a close eye on it in case someone tried to destroy it. We didn’t realize someone might also try to steal it.” Ultra said as the golden statue glimmered in the light. It didn’t take a genius to know that Sandman didn’t have the emotional intelligence to understand how much this piece meant to some people, he probably just saw a shiny golden statue and figured he’d melt the piece down and sell what he could.
“Sorry to steal your thunder,” Spider-Man chuckled as he handed the small statue over. “Sandy here is one of my regulars.”
“We would’ve called but we don’t have your number.” Ultra raised a brow and Spider-Man swallowed.
“Would you believe me if I said I don’t have a private line?”
“We figured you’d say that.” A guy said as he walked over, small gadgets floating around him that looked like bats or something. He brushed back his strawberry blonde hair as he flipped open a pocket on his tool belt and pulled out what looked like a tricked out Blackberry.
“I call it the SpiderX,” Gizmo smirked as he held out the phone towards Spider-Man. “Think of it as a direct line from us to you.”
“My first team-up phone!” Spider-Man beamed as he took the SpiderX and put it in the pocket of his cargo shorts. Sometimes it felt a little silly wearing shorts over his spidersuit but you never know when something might tear.
“We can handle Sandman from here,” Ultra said as she leaned on Gizmo and Spider-Man didn’t need to be told twice.
“That frees up my afternoon! I better hose off, I’m not a huge fan of sandy shorts.” Spider-Man waved before leaping away. As soon as he was far away enough he pulled out his actual phone and dialed the only number he needed to call after a fight. Stina Heks.
“About time you called,” Stina muttered on the line as Jensi webbed the phone on his ear so he’d have both hands free to swing around and lose any news vans.
“I got a little wrapped up,” Jensi chuckled. “Turns out good ol’ Sandstorm was stealing a piece that was being guarded by the X-Men.”
“I see,” Stina muttered. Jensi knew his girlfriend well enough to guess she wanted to say more but probably couldn’t based off of who was around her. “Well I guess I’ll just have to find you on my way to class.”
“I might need to hit the showers. I’ve got too much sand and stuff, skin tight suits and sand don’t feel great when combined.”
“I know. The cafeteria is so damn crowded. It’s going to take forever to get out after the headcount.” Stina warned, reminded Jensi that his shower would have to be a speedy one if he didn’t want to be noticed as missing.
“I’m glad they care enough to count everyone but it is a little annoying.” Jensi sighed. He was only so lucky the museum was closer to the school than say Manhattan. Then he’d really be on a time crunch.
“See you soon Jen,” Stina promised as Jensi felt his heart soar and picked up the pace.
“See you soon. I love you.”
“Cornball.” Stina smiled from the other side of the phone and Jensi beamed. That was just her way of saying it back.
Queens, New York;
“I really ought to learn how to drive,” Jensi sighed as he rolled down his window and appreciated the wind as it blew through his hair. Stina smiled as she carefully drove to her place and shrugged.
“I hear there are more eco-friendly ways of swinging around town,” She smirked as Jensi laughed and nodded.
“That’s true but cars don’t run out of webs.”
“No, they just run out of gas.”
“Touché.” Jensi nodded then dug through his backpack. “By the way I wanna know you the gift I got-”
“In the apartment Jen,” Stina warned, moving one hand off the wheel and placing it over Jensi’s. Jensi looked at her then held her hand in his own, feeling the slight tremble of her fingers. Stina was always anxious after a battle and Jensi understood her worries. It was tough having to go out and fight but being the one who had to watch was way worse. Jensi should know, he once saw Stina ram a car straight into Shocker a month ago when the electric cowboy had managed to pin Jensi like a display spider during a home game. Jensi had been zapped of his energy and just barely keeping both halves of the football goal post together. Somehow, Stina had managed to rile up the panicking crowd so much that people started throwing stuff at Shocker, providing just enough of a distraction that Stina managed to hotwire the security guard’s go cart and send Shocker flying into a touchdown. The ramp definitely helped get the proper air time and the webbing Jensi made to keep the goal post together worked perfectly as a trap.
Watching Stina stand up to Shocker however had been terrifying. Jensi had superpowers that helped keep those teeth rattling shocks from hospitalizing him. A normal person on the other hand would be comatose at best. He’d croaked out, begging Stina to stop but there was no stopping Stina Heks and with an entire high school marching by her side Shocker was outnumbered. It helped that Stina’s friends were all able to rally up their own small groups until the anger spread through the stands like a wave.
Jensi raised Stina’s hand to his lips and kissed her knuckles. He owed her so much for being by his side throughout everything but he knew she’d never let him thank her.
“Mind if we take a pit stop?” Jensi asked and Stina raised a brow.
“Sure, where to?”
“See there’s this amazing girl I love who I wanna buy flowers for,” Jensi teased and Stina’s lips curled into a smile.
“Interesting. Is it a special occasion?” She asked but Jensi shook his head.
“Do I need one?”
“Ooh, good answer.” Stina nodded as Jensi grinned as she deviated and they made their way towards her favorite spot.
Stina’s place- Queens, New York;
Stina placed the flowers on a vase in the kitchen. She knew that once her family found out Jensi got her flowers again they’d never stop teasing her about it but the kitchen had the best light for the flowers. Jensi took off his shoes and called out to the empty apartment as Stina chuckled and gestured to the clock. It was a weekday meaning both of her parents were out until 6 and honestly who cared about Jurek’s whereabouts. Stina had the apartment to herself and a super powered boyfriend she needed to do a proper check on.
“Come on tiger,” Stina whispered as she took his hand and guided him to her bedroom. Once upon a time Stina and Jensi had actually lived on the same street back when they were little kids. Now it was just her uncle Kelri who lived there while the Babblos stayed in the same place all these years. It was part of the reason why the two had gone to the dance together.
Sure Stina and Jensi were already on friendly terms but Kelri had encouraged her to drive by and pick up Jensi. Apparently Jensi hadn’t been told exactly who was taking him to the dance so he was a little surprised to see her. And he had given her a wrist corsage.
Now that same corsage was seated on her shelf, wrapped in its original case to keep most of the dust off.
Stina shut the door behind her as Jensi walked in first and he paused, turning to her with a bashful look on his face.
“Stina,” He whispered softly as Stina leaned against the door and pressed her lips together.
“I’ll uh, give you some privacy.” She mumbled. She motioned to open the door and walk out but a quick thwip stopped her as Jensi shot a quick web on the doorframe.
She looked over at him and Jensi stood frozen, like he wasn’t too sure why he did that either but when his gaze met hers and a blush started to creep its way up his neck Stina started to follow. She crossed the space between them in a few steps as Jensi swallowed and looked up at her.
“You know the rules,” Stina whispered as she cupped his face in her hand. “Check up first, then kisses.”
“We’ve done both before,” Jensi urged. He raised his hand to hers and turned so he could kiss her palm and wrist. Stina sucked in a breath and her mind flashed back to the library and their unfinished business.
“I,” She stammered. “I need the-”
“Got it.” Jensi smiled against her skin as one web opened her nightstand and another pulled out her first aid kit. Stina nodded as she took the small kit in her hands, their fingers brushing for a moment. She looked into his eyes as Jensi glanced away, pulling off his shirt.
Stina reached forward suddenly, grabbing Jensi’s hand and stopping him as the hem of his shirt started to ride up his stomach slightly.
“Wait!” She whispered, her voice half strangled as it caught in her throat and Stina shut her eyes. Jesni held still. Stina swallowed the lump in her throat.
“You got me flowers,” Stina said softly and Jensi raised a brow.
“I did?? What does that have to do with-” Jensi said but was cut off as Stina shut him up with a kiss. Jensi let out Stina’s favorite sound as he groaned and leaned into the kiss, following her lead as she pulled him in one direction. One hand on his chest as she nudged him towards the bed.
He sat down unceremoniously as she pulled out of the kiss and Jensi’s eyes flew open.
“Spider-Man deserves his flowers too,” Stina smiled. She gave a little shrug as Jensi tilted his head, a small smile on his face.
“Flowers? For what?”
“For being a great boyfriend?” Stina chuckled. Of course Jensi would probably argue he wasn’t doing anything overly special today but Stina wasn’t quite sure how to say how much she appreciated his quick call after the fight. With any other boy, any other superhero, they’d complain Stina was worrying too much or that her demands were too much. Jensi all but kept her on speed dial. He put up with her stupid rules about the check ups and the probably frustrating danger she’d sometimes put herself in.
“I don’t think giving you flowers makes me a great boyfriend.” Jensi said and Stina could swear he could read her mind sometimes.
“It’s not just the flowers, Jensi.” Stina whispered. She brushed a hand on his cheek then cupped his face with it as Jensi leaned into the touch once more.
“God, it’s like you don’t even know what you’re doing.” She muttered but Jensi looked up with a furrowed brow.
“Being affectionate?”
Stina shook her head and kissed his forehead, her hands moved to take off his shirt and Jensi let her. Stina wasn’t sure how Jensi survived wearing long sleeves over his suit but AC probably helped and-
And Jensi wasn’t wearing his suit underneath his shirt.
Stina blinked as she looked at the freckly bare chest of her boyfriend and raised a brow at jensi who blushed.
“I uh, figured I’d wash it later.” he explained and Stina nodded, remembering him complaining about the sand.
“Riiight.” Stina nodded but was a little distracted as she discarded Jensi’s shirt off to the side. Well his front half had no visible injuries, healing or otherwise which was good. That meant that however he’d been hit during his latest fight it hadn’t been too bad. Typically Jensi had maybe a bruise or two that healed before the day was done or a bit after. The worst he’d ever gotten was the scar on his chest her finger brushed over now. Jensi’s leading theory was that something about the wound had been too much for his healing capabilities and something came out slightly wrong.
“Lean on me,” Stina commanded and Jensi wrapped his arms around her, burying his face in her stomach as Stina chuckled and ruffled his hair.
“Not exactly what I meant.” She teased and looked at his back. There was a slight bruise but that was well on its way to being gone by tomorrow.
“Sandman slam you into the wall?” Stina asked and Jensi nodded slightly.
“You know how Sandy likes gold.”
“Does it hurt when you sit?” Stina asked but Jensi shook his head.
“Nah, I poked it a few times and it's just a light sting.”
“Don’t poke your bruises.” Stina scolded as Jensi hummed. Stina rolled her eyes then poked his shoulder, signaling that her check up was done. One could argue that only examining the top half of Jensi wasn’t a thorough check but Stina would just tell them to fuck off. She might be a bold teenage girl but even she had her limits.
“Am I clear doc?” Jensi beamed, showing off his dimples and Stina’s favorite smile. It was just lopsided enough that he looked a little goofy but in a good way. Stina couldn’t help herself as she cupped his face in both hands and rested her knee beside him on the bed as she leaned down to kiss him.
“Right as rain,” She whispered as she moved to kiss his cheek then jaw. She put more weight on the bed as she moved one hand into his hair and the other painting a stroke down his chest. Jensi moved his head and gave her the perfect angle to kiss that sweet spot on his neck. She’d wanted to do this back at the library but if anyone caught her there’d be hell to pay.
Not in the sense that she’d get in trouble but the rumor mill would explode and Stina honestly didn’t care for what the sheeple of Midtown High had to say about her dating life. Plus, then a bunch of losers would be in her secret make out spot in the library and she’d have to find a new place to make out with Jensi during study hall.
Jensi wrapped his arms around her neck and Stina placed a kiss on his chest, right next to his heart. Jensi was leaning too far back and Stina had to be mindful of his bruise even if Jensi wasn’t going to be. With just the push of her hand, Jensi’s back arched the other way, moving towards her rather than away. He let out a small squeak and Stina’s ears were burning as her heartbeat roared in her chest.
“I love that sound.” Stina muttered into his skin as she kissed his shoulder, holding him towards her as she sat on the bed with him, legs on either side of his.
“You’re teasing me,” Jensi whined as Stina shrugged and worked her way up his neck again.
“You’re my boyfriend, I’m allowed to tease you.”
“Yeah but-” Jensi tried to speak until she captured his lips and all words were forgotten. With her fingers in his hair and his arms wrapped around her tightly there was no room for words as their lips danced. With only the rhythm of their hearts they moved in tandem, heat burning between them as they deepened the kiss and Jensi fell back on the bed. Stina slammed both hands on either side of him to keep herself from falling completely.
“Sorry!” They both blurted out in unison as Stina blinked and Jensi started to laugh. Stina sighed and smiled, brushing a rouge stand of hair away from Jensi’s face and moving it back to where it should be. She couldn’t ask for a better boyfriend. All she could hope was that she rocked his world just as much as he did. Stina loved her friends but something about Jensi made high school so much more bearable. Every day was something she could get through so long as they were together, side by side.
“Where was I?” Stina muttered to herself as Jensi pushed himself up to meet her lips as her eyes danced with a wicked gleam.
X-Men’s Base- somewhere in New York;
“I forget how long my name is,” Biana sighed as she checked on the status of the museum one last time.
“Well, we did try to warn you.” Dex smirked as he also fretted over his own creation. They’d taken a big leap giving Spider-Man that phone. Sure it was useless when trying to call any other number, including emergency ones but it was still a leap.
“Think it’s too late for a rebrand?” Biana asked and Dex raised a brow.
“Yeah, thought so.” she sighed and blew her hair out of her face as she leaned back in her chair and thought about the masked superhero. Spider-Man seemed the least abrasive to mutants but it could be possible that he was a mutant himself. It wasn’t exactly the easiest thing to discern unless you personally knew whether or not someone experienced magic space radiation or fell into a vat of perfectly aligned chemicals. Or inhaled strange alien gas.
“How’d it go with Spider-Man?” Sophie asked as she walked into the room with Wylie.
“He’s got our number. We’ll just have to wait and see if he calls.” Dex said and checked the screen stating the call log of the SpiderX.
