Work Text:
It was evening, and Vivid Bad Squad had just finished practice. Now, the group was lazing around in Weekend Garage, chatting about whatever came to mind.
“You know, I think today’s practice went pretty good!” An said in her usually chipper voice. Her legs swung over the bar stool she was sitting on, kicking them back and forth.
“I have to say, I agree. Your voice sounded extra clear today, An,” Toya responded. He was sitting on the bar stool next to her, occasionally sipping some of his black coffee.
An smiled proudly. “Thanks, man!” she said, bringing her hand up to high five the other, to which he gladly did.
Akito and Kohane were sitting on the blue chairs near the other two, drinking their beverages while chiming into the group conversation every now and then. Akito watched the interaction, not paying much attention to the words, but more to the actions.
“Yo, dude, your hands are pretty big,” Akito pointed out quietly, as if the comment was meant for only him to hear. However, Toya had still heard him, and now he was looking at his hands.
“Are they really? I’ve never paid much attention to my hand size,” Toya muttered, looking carefully at his hands. They looked normal to him, maybe a bit bigger, but he was quite tall so he guessed that explained it. An nudged him, getting his attention immediately. She held her hand out, spread as big as she could make it.
“Let’s compare hand sizes!” She said with her usual smile. Toya felt obligated to return the smile, finding the current topic a bit silly. He put his hand over hers so that their palms were touching. His hands were bigger than hers, of course, but it was still shocking to see just by how much.
“Aw, man! I thought my hands were pretty big, too..” An moped as she pulled her hand away to look at it, spreading her fingers as far as she could in an attempt to make her hand look bigger.
“Well, of course Toya’s hands are bigger than yours,” Akito piped in once again, “He’s literally taller than you.”
“Well, he’s taller than you, too!” An replied defensively. She crossed her arms and stared at Akito with her eyebrows furrowed.
“I bet his hands are bigger than yours as well,” She challenged. Akito scoffed, already getting up and walking toward Toya with his hand up in front of him.
“Please, if anything, our hands are the same size!” He said with full confidence, looking at An with a smug expression on his face. He felt Toya’s hand go palm to palm with his own and looked down.
..Oh
An burst out into laughter, looking at Akito’s surprised face, then pointing at the pair’s hands.
“You were so sure of yourself too!” She teased in between her little giggle fit. Akito’s face flushed in embarrassment.
“Shut up! It’s not that big of a difference, and it’s not that funny!” He argued right back at her. He felt as Toya’s hand pulled away, just for it to come back and hold his hand gently. Akito looked back down at their hands, just to see Toya examining his hand carefully.
“I like your hands, they fit you nicely,” He complimented in that tone that he used when he complimented people, as if he was commenting on the weather. Akito just looked away again, covering his mouth with the back of his other hand as he mumbled something about telling Toya to be quiet. Toya let out a soft chuckle in response.
“..Why are your hands so big, anyway?” Akito asked, his voice a little louder. He wasn’t expecting to get an answer, but soon noticed the fourth member in the room walking towards An.
“Well, Toya has played piano and violin for a few years, yes? Pianists usually tend to have bigger hands,” Kohane responded, finally chiming into their conversation. The other three all let out collective noises of understanding.
“Well then, at least I know that my hands are still pretty big! I was just being compared to someone with massive hands. Akito, give me your hand real quick,” An said, grabbing Akito’s hand before he could say anything. She quickly pressed their palms together, and smiled.
“See! I have big hands, too, right Kohane?” An looked over to Kohane, who nodded in response with a soft smile. An’s hand was smaller than Akito’s, but it was still a comparable size. Akito pulled his hand away and clicked his tongue. Kohane let out a small giggle at the interaction.
“I’d like to see how my hand compares to Toya’s,” Kohane said, walking over to Toya. Toya let out a hum of agreement, and put his hand up for Kohane to compare hers with.
Kohane pushed their hands together. She spread her fingers in attempts to make her hand look bigger. The group looked down at their hands.
Yeah, they really weren’t expecting much.
