Seashells, Sand and Starlight

Summary:

"What about going to the beach? I'm free this weekend."

".... The beach?"

"Yes. Sand, the salty sea, boats and seashells."

"I know what a beach is Joonghyuk-ah." Kim Dokja giggles again, not suppressing his desire to pet Yoo Joonghyuk's head at the cute explanation. "It's just I've never been there."

[ In which Yoo Joonghyuk learns Kim Dokja's never been to the beach, invites the whole company and at the end of the day who knows what will happen.]

Notes:

(Sorry, I deleted this fic. Thought it was a dream.)

English is not my first language, excuse typos and things please.

So I wrote that while being on a beach thus the idea and why not?

It's more fluffy than spicy. Well it's also important what you see as spice and what as fluff.

To understand the story:
So yeah, it plays after the scenarios. That's all. But you can just ignore that fact as well, as it isn't important at all. There's not really a spoiler in there either and I'm pretty sure it's clear that the sceanrios will end someday, so no spoiler.

Anyway let's just say: have fun reading <3

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

"I am free this weekend."

Yoo Joonghyuk murmured, body pressed against the wall by Kim Dokja and hands resting on the others thin waist.

Kim Dokja only hummed absentmindedly, busy from hungrily working on his neck.

"Kim Dokja."

"Hm?" Two eyes playfully looked up at him.

"What do you want to do?"

"Don't know." Kim Dokja lazily replied, huffing breaths of air against his skin. "Why don't you decide, Joonghyuk-ah?"

"...How about the cinema?"

"Mhm sounds good."

The sucking on his neck turned into gentle bitting.

"Or Dinner at a restaurant?"

With how hungry Kim Dokja seemed to be by biting his flesh.

"Mhm."

"How about the signing event of this one author you like?"

"Mhm."

Yoo Joonghyuk still wasn't satisfied with Kim Dokja's reaction.

"And the-"

"Yoo Joonghyuk I'm fine with whatever you decide on." Kim Dokja sighed with a smile, moving a hand to his cheek and kissing him.

"I know."

Yoo Joonghyuk said, while bumping their foreheads together.

Yoo Joonghyuk of course knew, he just wanted to give him a few options. In the end he would've chosen the one idea Kim Dokja liked the most, as he was fine as long as they could spend time together.

Yoo Joonghyuk's eyes shortly landed on some round object laying in a corner of the bedroom they were in.

"Why is a volleyball lying there?"

Kim Dokja turns to where he was looking.

"Ah, it belongs to the kids. They must have left it here."

"Mhm."

When Yoo Joonghyuk only kept staring the volleyball down, Kim Dokja quickly said.

"You don't have to worry the kids won't come here. They have to study the next two days."

Yoo Joonghyuk gaze remained on that volleyball a little longer and then moved to Kim Dokja.

"What about going to the beach?"

".... The beach?"

"Mhm yes. You know, sand, the salty sea, boats and seashells."

"I know what a beach is Joonghyuk-ah." Kim Dokja giggles again, not suppressing his desire to pet Yoo Joonghyuk's head at the cute explanation. "It's just I've never been there. But it sounds great, let's go to the beach this weekend."

Kim Dokja coughed into his fist. "Anyway Yoo Joonghyuk, how about we continue with what we were doing? We haven't seen each other for more than a month. We already ate talked and now."

When Kim Dokja never heard a reply saying something like "Was your body craving for me that much?" as usual, he saw Yoo Joonghyuk blankly staring at him now.

"...You've never been to the beach?"

"Hm why, no?"

"You mean never, as in never have I ever seen a single corn of sand?"

Was Yoo Joonghyuk teasing him now? But it didn't seem like that.

"Hey Joonghyuk-ah" He leaned forward so that their lips only crazed each others, and smiled seductively. "Is that really important now?"

A hand between their lips was swiftly interrupting his actions.

"Yoo Joonghyuk?" He muffled into it in confusion.

"We're going. To the beach."

Kim Dokja didn't know why, but somehow he got the feeling Yoo Joonghyuk just got some kind of idea.

He then slowly licked the inside of the hand.

"You know what this means right?" He pulled the hand away from his mouth and laid into onto his cheek, then kissed it. "You can't leave any marks."

If he did, Kim Dokja would be sure to pay him back tenfold, was what his smile conveyed.

"They will heal in time."

Is the only thing Yoo Joonghyuk could come up with. After all there was no way he would be able to hold himself back any longer.

The next day, his phone suddenly rang, when he was eating lunch at his and Joonghyuk's home. He looked at who the caller was.

Strange normally Han Sooyoung should be working around now.

He picked up, holding the speaker to his ear.

"Hello-"

[You squid why did you never say anything?!?! !]

At the scream that came from the other end, he instinctively drew it away from his ear, less he wanted a ruptured eardrum.

"Han Sooyoung, say what-"

He screamed back, but was quickly shouted at again.

[That you've never been there obviously?!]

How come every time she calls, she never let's me finish talking and just screams.

He tought while already preparing for the incoming headache he'd get from the screams alone.

"Sooyoung I don't understand a single thing you're sayin-"

[You damn idiot! How many years have you lived and still not learned how to tell us shit!]

He waited five more minutes until Han Sooyoung finished bashing her lungs out at him and heard her cough.

"So what were you saying?"

[The beach you fool! The damn beach! Why didn't you tell us!]

So Yoo Joonghyuk must have told her? But wait since when did they even talk if it wasn't anything life changing.

"You're screaming at me for that? It's not that big of a deal. It's just a beach, and I'm going there with Yoo Joonghyuk this weekend anyway. So stop it already."

There was a short pause.

[...This weekend.]

She said in a much calmer thinking voice.

"Yes?"

[And only you two?]

"Mhm."

[So that's why everyone's so busy.]

It sounded like she finally connected two puzzle pieces in her head. Then another one clicked in place, that summoned a certain shout again.

[That fucking bastard told everyone before me!]

'Fucking bastard' in Han Sooyoung's language is definitely Yoo Joonghyuk.

"Hey you're not planning anything dangerous right? Han Sooyoung?"

It sure sounded like a reason to murder someone. But if that person was Yoo Joonghyuk, the person going to die would be Han Sooyoung instead.

[Yeah as if you're the right one to say that.]

She snorted back at him.

[But no, no it's not that dangerous....]

She said and then seemed to be thinking again.

[Anyway I'm busy now so bye.]

She hurriedly hung up without even letting Kim Dokja say goodbye, as if he was the one who stole her time by calling her. He could only sigh at the suspicious feeling that settled in his mind. Well, she wouldn't do something as crazy as him, he thought or rather hoped.

The weekend Yoo Joonghyuk and Kim Dokja planned to go to the beach...

"Hey quick question, what you are doing here?"

Kim Dokja asked, standing on a street that led to the beach and already fully dressed in beachwear. He was staring at Han Sooyoung in a swimsuit, lemon lollipop in her mouth and beach ball under one arm.

"We're going."

Somehow that phrase sounded familiar.

"To the beach."

"Yeah the beach-"

He absentmindedly repeated. Realizing her words, his eyes shot to Han Sooyoung.

"Wait, but didn't you say everyone was busy just around two days ago?!"

"Duh and why do you think that was?" She raised one eyebrow and took her sunglasses off her eyes.

"Believe me everyone was confused enough, when they suddenly got a text message from Yoo Joonghyuk of all people saying:" She mimicked a grumpy voice and grimaced Yoo Joonghyuk standard frown.

" 'Kim Dokja's never been to the beach. We're going this weekend.' Do you even know how scary that was? No one was sure if they just got threatened or invited."

"Wait Sooyoung, what do you mean by everyone? Are you saying Yoo Joonghyuk texted -"

He stopped, when a few other people from the company showed up beside them and an arm got draped on his shoulder.

"Yo Dokja, I heard it's your first time?"

"Heewon-ssi please don't say it like that."

"Oh come on everyone in the company knows about you two, and you're still so shy about anything related to it that you're blushing every time I say something like this-"

Lee Hyunsung quickly covered her mouth.

"Please excuse her Dokja-ssi."

"It's no problem."

He dismissed embarrassed. Was his company always so open about who he was with?

"What's there to be so secretive about?"

Han Sooyoung chimed in.

"Everyone knows you two are doing it, and it's going really well for so many years now.

Hell I wouldn't even be surprised if you get engaged and marry in another country some time soon. Oh, speaking of which"

She addressed Jung Heewon, smirking.

"Don't you think today would be perfect to finally p-"

No one got to hear the rest of the sentence, as a soft volleyball suddenly hit the back of her head.

"... Who dares to!"

Yoo Joonghyuk's arm was still lifted from throwing the ball.

Hey I was curious what she was about to say!

But that thought immediately stopped, when he saw Han Sooyoung. She furiously turned around, clenching fists.

"You fucker."

That won't end with just broken bones!

"Everyone from the company seems to have arrived."

Yoo Sangah happily stepped forward, straightening Han Sooyoung's hair and smiling brightly.

"So why don't we go to the beach without a bloodbath?"

Han Sooyoung had immediately fallen victim to her, if because of the threatening undertone or the bright smile, Kim Dokja wasn't sure about which one the reason was.

"Yeah, why don't we go?" He turned to his side, where Yoo Joonghyuk walked over and gave a simple grunt as answer together with everyone's furious nods.

- - -

He stepped into it with his first foot.

....eww.....

"Everything okay?"

Yoo Joonghyuk asked worried.

"Yes, it just feels a little... weird."

He stepped in with the other foot, walked a few steps, then abruptly stopped.

His feet were covered with sand. Where supposedly a hard floor should be, only tiny corns were slipping away under his feet with every step he took. It was even worse as he didn't bring any sort of shoes, and it felt like his feet were burned by the hot sand.

He shouted in the direction, where everyone was miles ahead of him.

"Hey I'm going back to quickly buy some slippers. There must be a shop somewhere nearby!"

He wanted to turn around, when suddenly a pair of arms lifted him of the ground by the back of his knees and waist. He yelped, wrapping his arms around Yoo Joonghyuk's neck to prevent him from falling into the sand again.

A bridal carry, huh? He thought unimpressed.

"It's better like this right?"

"Well if you don't mind all the people from the company staring at us right now then yes, yes, thank you Joonghyuk-ah."

Later that day Yoo Joonghyuk went to a shop to buy slippers for Kim Dokja as Yoo Joonghyuk was sure he would need them.

- - -

They arrived at a place full of loungers and parasols shortly after. Yoo Joonghyuk let him down on one lounger, sitting down on the same one.

"Hey it's gonna break if two people are on the same?!"

Kim Dokja said trying to climb on the other one without touching the sand. Yoo Joonghyuk pulled his body back.

"You're not heavy, it won't make a difference."

He then put Kim Dokja on his laying down body so that the two were facing each other.

"What are you doing?!!"

The reader shout whispered while blushing and trying to get up into something that didn't look so intimate.

Yoo Joonghyuk pulled him down again to wispher back with a smirk.

"Why? Are there some kind of memories coming to mind, when we´re laying like this?"

Kim Dokja's face became even redder.

"That-that's not it! It's just so hot and when we lie like that it gets even hotter!!!"

"You don't have to worry about that."

Yoo Joonghyuk took something out of a bag he brought with him and swallowed it.

The body under Kim Dokja suddenly became colder and colder. It felt like he was close to becoming a corpse.

Panicked for Yoo Joonghyuk's life Kim Dokja interrogated him.

"What was that?!"

"Just an ice pill. You know, the one that cools down your body temperature?"

Kim Dokja let his head fall down on Yoo Joonghyuk's chest in relief.

"Damn bastard tell me beforehand."

Yoo Joonghyuk's hand petted his head, other hand finding its way to his waist. Kim Dokja's mood shifted from relieve to annoyance in a matter of seconds.

"Joonghyuk-ah there are still other people."

"They don't care."

What does this bastard mean they don't care?

He was sure the girls that were walking by just now were blushing and not because of the heat.

"Damn lovebirds, why don't you just buy ice cream like every normal person if you're so hot?"

Han Sooyoung grumbled from her lounger that was next to Yoo Sangah's.

"Later."

Yoo Joonghyuk grumbled back. His arms around Kim Dokja's waist tightened as if preventing him from getting up.

- - -

"One popsicle please."

Kim Dokja said while giving money to a nice ice cream dealer.

"Thanks."

Kim Dokja walked out of the shop and back to the company and sat down on Yoo Joonghyuk's lounger, breaking it apart and giving him one stick.

He must have been hot even if he took some ice pills.

Surprisingly it turned out that some of Yoo Joonghyuk's fans were on the beach as well.

After the whole scenarios, Yoo Joonghyuk decided to become a pro gamer again after all. Together with his performance in the scenarios and godly looks it was only a given he had a huge mass of fans.

Whenever Yoo Joonghyuk went somewhere away from the company woman would start to pester him, trying to flirt.

Kim Dokja was seriously annoyed. He understood these women and that apparently to the public Yoo Joonghyuk was still single, because Kim Dokja didn't want to come out with their relationship for Yoo Joonghyuk's sake. Yoo Joonghyuk was indifferent to it. Whether they would tell the public or not, he would do what Kim Dokja wanted. Is what he always told Kim Dokja.

Anyway, the situation now. These damn ladies were getting out of hand, scooting closer and closer to his boyfriend. He swore one of them even tried to touch Yoo Joonghyuk's shoulders.

"Why don't you go over already, you "Hold it in"-junkie. You two are together Kim Dokja you have the right to go over there and declare your love to the public already."

Han Sooyoung advised being fed up by his grumbling that was interrupting her sunbath.

Right, he had every right, didn't he?

He stood up walking towards the horde of ladies that gathered around Yoo Joonghyuk in a circle.

About 12 maybe? Or more?

"Excuse me?"

Kim Dokja sneaked through gaps, the ladies made at his words, probably recognizing him from the company.

He came to a halt, when he was standing beside Yoo Joonghyuk who looked somewhat confused at what Kim Dokja was going to do now.

He began with a sigh to overcome his embarrassment and loudly declared to all the woman around them.

"He's mine."

He was only met with silence shortly after some chatters among them.

"What do you mean?"

One of them asked arrogantly.

"Duh don't you get it. This," Kim Dokja cupped Yoo Joonghyuk's face. " This, " He wrapped one arm around Yoo Joonghyuk's. " And this, " his other hand was placed straight on Yoo Joonghyuk's abs. "Belongs to me."

...

How they look at me like I'm crazy, they still don't seem to understand. How can I make it even clearer-

"Eh wait?!!"

His waist was pulled closer with the arm he was previously hugging. A calloused hand under his chin tilted his surprised face upwards, to be met by a passionate kiss.

On top of a light blush, Kim Dokja laughed into the kiss upon understanding Yoo Joonghyuk's process of thought.

There's no clearer way than to show them.

He only stopped laughing when Yoo Joonghyuk didn't pull away at all, even when many other strangers that weren't even involved began blushing as well.

Kim Dokja decided to end the kiss after his lungs desperately screamed for air. He managed to take one quick breath, before Yoo Joonghyuk crushed their lips together again.

What a possessive bastard.

He thought, while looking through their surroundings.

Does he plan to tell the entire beach, that we are together?

Well, they would know anyway, because there were also people taking pictures.

His attention was suddenly caught when he felt something prodding against his lips.

No they can't do that here?!

He quickly pulled away and murderously shout-whispered in Yoo Joonghyuk's ear.

"We're at the beach, Joonghyuk-ah. You can't, we're in a public place-"

He had no choice but to let it in, when the tongue shot into his mouth before he had any chance to react. He subtly punched Yoo Joonghyuk in the chest, upon feeling the hot mass eating his mouth out.

Really possessive!

Yoo Joonghyuk took his time again, until the there was no air in him left, and only then did he pull away. Kim Dokja could barely stand from the lack of air. If not for the two hands on his waist supporting him, he might have fallen to his knees.

Yoo Joonghyuk then lifted him up bridal carry again and loudly declared to the whole lot of people.

"He's mine."

Well that problem seems to be solved.

- - -

Kim Dokja spent the rest of the day with the kids, playing volleyball, lying on top of Yoo Joonghyuk and various other things he could do on the beach, which turned out to be a lot with everyone in the company present.

After continuous mocks from Han Sooyoung saying that he was afraid of sand, what he obviously wasn't - He just didn't like the feeling of it going everywhere. - he even overcame that hurdle.

In the end everyone got to enjoy their day, Kim Dokja included.

They even decided to stay a little bit longer and bought a few cans of beer for the adults among them to drink in the evening, when the sun was already setting.

Kim Dokja only left them and the beer cans to go to the bathroom, but after he came back everyone was lying on the floor and sleeping.

It can't be that they got drunk and fell asleep from only one can of beer. He thought while thoroughly shaking Han Sooyoung.

"Sooyoung-ah wake up."

It didn't help. She remained in deep sleep mode. Kim Dokja was sure he even heard a snore though it sounded more like a grumble that dared him to shake her more if he wanted to get punched.

"Kim Dokja."

From behind him a much lower voice called out his name.

"Ah Joonghyuk-ah, are you drunk too?" He ran to him, caressing the others cheek.

Yoo Joonghyuk only hummed, leaning into the hand.

"Let's take a walk."

Yoo Joonghyuk said, whilst standing up and stumbling. His body got caught by Kim Dokja, who helped him stand straight again.

"Hey Joonghyuk-ah I don't think that's a good idea right now."

"I'm not drunk."

The other persisted.

Yeah, he sure looks like he wasn't drunk right now. Especially with nearly every other person around lying on the floor and sleeping. Though if Kim Dokja remembered right, there was this one time, Yoo Joonghyuk drank a whole barrel of beer and still walked home by himself. In contrast to that time, he looked completely fine.

"Then why did you stumble?"

"I slipped because of the sand."

Kim Dokja stomped his foot into the sand and no matter what he did, he never slipped.

"Oh, come on Joonghyuk-ah, who would slip because of-"

Fate couldn't have chosen a better moment to make him slip as well. As Yoo Joonghyuk caught him with a smug smirk, Kim Dokja agreed.

"Bastard, fine we're going on your walk."

- - -

The sun already disappeared, when they began walking on the beach and stars already started showing themselves together with a bright full moon. They illuminated the darkness so that one wouldn't think it wasn't already midnight.

Kim Dokja happily walked through the sand, while waves brushed over his feet from time to time; searching for seashells. He found that to be one activity he enjoyed.

One wave hit his feet and brushed the sand away from a shell. Kim Dokja quickly picked it up before another wave came and washed it away.

"Joonghyuk-ah look!"

He presented a shell that had a piece broken away to Yoo Joonghyuk.

"It looks like a heart doesn't it?"

Kim Dokja brightly smiled at him.

"It does."

Yoo Joonghyuk said while kissing the others forehead.

"What was that for?"

Kim Dokja laughed, while holding his forehead.

"Just because."

Kim Dokja laughed like he already expected that answer.

"Pfft yeah alright."

He said, while petting Yoo Joonghyuk's head.

Yoo Joonghyuk always noticed how it was another way of Kim Dokja saying that he did something cute.

They were walking more along the beach until they no longer saw the place the company fell asleep on.

"By the way, why were you throwing a volleyball at Han Sooyoung?"

"Why do you think I did?"

"Hmm well you don't usually get violent, I mean you normally would only threaten to kill her or to shut up if she wants to live."

"Get to your point."

"I guess it was about what she was about to say?"

Yoo Joonghyuk looked at him while walking.

"You're right.... What do you think she was about to say?"

"Well I guess the moment you hit her she said something like "today would be perfect to finally p..." and then you threw a ball at her. "

Yoo Joonghyuk expectantly looked at him.

He was really expecting him to solve this right?

"Well what about.... playing volleyball?"

"... Promise to love me?"

"... Purchase my slippers?"

All three were responded to by a head shake.

God, this is kind of frustrating, even more when every time I say the wrong thing Yoo Joonghyuk looks more and more like a kicked puppy.

"Come on Joonghyuk-ah please just tell me, I promise I won't laugh."

Yoo Joonghyuk seemed to wrestle with himself whether to tell him or not.

After a while a single word left his mouth.

"... Propose."

Kim Dokja stopped on his tracks.

".... Come again?"

He surely only heard it wrong or understood it the wrong way.

His thoughts got proven wrong.

"The word is propose. And the sentence was." Yoo Joonghyuk made a short pause. "Today would be perfect to finally propose to him."

Kim Dokja only stared at him with wide eyes, that quickly composed themselves again with an unlucky smile spreading over his face.

"... So you were angry at her for saying that you would propose to me?"

Kim Dokja looked like he would cry if Yoo Joonghyuk said the wrong thing now. And even if Kim Dokja hid that well, Yoo Joonghyuk would always be able to know how Kim Dokja feels just from looking at him.

"No, I wasn't angry for that."

He reassured the reader.

"Oh well that's..." Kim Dokja coughed into his fist and spoke with a much more relieved voice. "Good I guess."

"So that means you would want to get married?"

"Ah!" Kim Dokja looked as if he just got caught. "Uhm I-I I didn't mean that" Kim Dokja began stuttering. "I mean if the op-opportunity arises I think I of course would uhm consider it. But of course, I would never force us to get married. Nothing like that."

He stopped talking, probably trying to save himself from whatever he was about to blabber out and a light blush already adorning his face, which was looking at the ground in embarrassment.

It seemed to Yoo Joonghyuk that Kim Dokja still hadn't caught on.

"Kim Dokja."

Kim Dokja looked up at him.

"I would never be angry at you for something like that."

Kim Dokja smiled at him as if his world just got saved.

"... That's good then."

"So how would you think you would react if I did indeed propose to you now?"

Kim Dokja was definitely caught off guard by that question, as he began scratching his neck.

"Well I guess....."

Kim Dokja turned towards the ocean next.

"Well, the atmosphere exactly now would be indeed perfect. You know the stars moon, the sound of the waves meeting the sand, us two. Well anyway if you did propose, you definitely chose a good spot."

Yoo Joonghyuk absentmindedly hummed.

"And your answer?"

Yoo Joonghyuk asked Kim Dokja who looked eternal when he watched over the sea like that.

"Well, I guess I would say..." He turned back to him with a smile. "I guess my answer would be "yes"."

Yoo Joonghyuk smiled back. He repeated Kim Dokja's words from before.

"That's good then."

Yoo Joonghyuk looked up at the stars as well and then turned to his own star that shone much brighter than the ones in the sky. "I guess there's only one step left now."

Kim Dokja tilted his head when Yoo Joonghyuk came closer to hold his hands.

"So, let's..."

Yoo Joonghyuk got on one knee and pulled a small black box out of his pocket. He opened it and a ring shimmered in starlight.

 "Let's get married then."

Notes:

"Damn, that was close. I'm paying him back for that later!" Han Sooyoung grumbled, obviously not asleep from one can of beer.

The others were ending their acts as well and slowly sitting up.

"If that sooty bastard dares to hurt hyung with this, I'm going to kill him." Lee Gilyoung threatened the man he only saw in the distance. Shin Yoosoung agreed.

"Neh the only thing that could happen is Kim Dokja misunderstanding anything Yoo Joonghyuk says." Jung Heewon commented with a shrug and turned to Han Sooyoung. "But that volleyball was deserved, you nearly ruined his whole proposal thing."

"Huh how the hell should I have known of that?!! Who would think that he would take the whole company with him just to propose??!!!!" She argued back.

Everyone looked at her with widened eyes.

"...Don't tell me you.... It clearly stood in the message...." Yoo Sangah spoke first with a surprised voice. "You know the "I'm doing it today" part?"

"...I've never even seen that part." Han Sooyoung's rage level rose again in a matter of milliseconds. "Fucking bastard didn't even send the whole message!"
