Chapter Text
“Yoongi, honey, it’s time to get up.” Seokjin said softly, gently shaking his son’s shoulder from beneath his cocoon of blankets. Yoongi just grunted in response, snuggling more into his bed. It reminded Seokjin of Yoongi when he and Namjoon first adopted him, how he would come into bed with his parents and snuggle into Seokjin’s side. An endeared smile grew on Seokjin’s lips as he reminisced, but quickly shook away the fond memories, because his son was gonna be late for school at this rate. “Yoongi if you don’t get up now I’m—” he couldn’t finish the threat before a telltale deep tone sounded from beneath his heap of blankets. “You’re gonna dump a bucket of ice water on me, I get it, I’m up.” Yoongi said sleepily, sitting up and rubbing the residual grains of sleep from his eyes, and running a hand through his fluffy dark grey hair. Seokjin sighed, it’s been twelve years and he still forgets making threats against your son who can read minds is kinda useless. “You got me Yoongi, you got me.” Seokjin said with a chuckle, ruffling his son’s hair, who gave him a small smile in return, before leaving Yoongi’s room to go downstairs.
Seokjin’s family is not normal to say the least. His husband, Namjoon, is a retired superhero, once known as RM, the savior of the city with his super strength. But now he’s just a normal suburban dad, leaving the city’s safety to the new age of vigilantes on the scene, choosing to be a hero in his family’s life rather than the worlds. A normal suburban dad who just happens to accidentally break the sidewalk in two while playing jump rope with his kids, that is. Seokjin has no powers whatsoever, although if you ask his family, he has the greatest powers of all, he’s supermom. The title always makes a rosy blush color his cheeks, but he tries to stay humble. Namjoon and Seokjin have five adopted sons, each with a different super power; Yoongi and Hoseok, the older boys, Jimin and Taehyung, the twins, and Jungkook, the baby. The couple scoured the country looking for children with powers, wanting to ensure the kids would have a beautiful childhood in a family that understands their situations. The couple have heard enough stories of children with powers being abused by their parents or peers for a lifetime, wanting to a make a difference in their kids’ lives, no matter how small it could be. Seokjin nor Namjoon still have no idea how people are born with powers; could be radiation, could be a mutation, could be that they’re just special, they don’t know. And quite frankly, they couldn’t care less, their family is perfect and that’s all that matters.
Walking into the dining room to see the rest of his family seated at the table for breakfast, a warm glow ignited in Seokjin’s chest so strongly, he felt like it would catch on fire. Seokjin walked over to Namjoon, bending down to kiss the man on lips before taking his seat next to him. “Ew, gross.” Jimin whispered in disgust from where he was next to Taehyung, his twin snickering in agreement. Jimin and taehyung have what they like to call “twin power”, which is basically that if they touch each other while concentrating on a place relatively close to them, the two can teleport to that place together. The two love it, but it does get kind of much when Seokjin is trying to help them both with their math homework, only to have them suddenly clasp each other’s hands, disappearing with a blurred poof, only to be later found playing in the backyard together. Seokjin was about to reprimand his son that his parents kissing each other was nothing to be ashamed of, before he realized with a start that something was missing. Not something, but someone. “Oh god, where’s Jungkook?” Seokjin said exasperatedly, running a hand through his bleach blonde hair. “I’ll go check if he’s in his room!” Hoseok said without missing a beat, before he was suddenly gone in a blur, the sound of his feet running up the stairs in less than a second. Hoseok was constantly hyper, but that’s probably because he has the power of super speed (although if you asked Seokjin, he thinks that even if Hoseok was normal he’d still be the same ball of happiness and energy he always is). In less than 30 seconds Hoseok was back and sitting in his seat, a pout on his lips. “He’s not there, where could he be?” he said disappointedly, puffing out his tanned cheeks. Seokjin was trying not to get too worried, since this happens on an almost daily basis, but the thought of one of his kids being lost made his heart feel like it was being ripped from his chest. “Yoongi, can’t you read his mind and see where he might be?” Seokjin asked nervously, wringing in his hands together. “I can’t, there’s too many of you here, I can’t focus on just one.” Yoongi said regretfully, his usually indifferent expression currently showing clear signs of worry. They sat in anxious silence for what felt like an eternity, trying to make out any sounds that could come from the youngest boy. “Kookie, please come out, or daddy won’t give you any ice cream later.” Namjoon finally said lightly, looking around the room with worry evident in his dark eyes. Seokjin was about to start officially freaking out, until a small whimper was heard from the living room that bled into the dining room, making his broad shoulders slump in relief. Suddenly, Jungkook’s tiny body materialized on the sofa, where he must have been the entire time, jutting out his lip in an adorable pout. “Oh god, Kookie, you can’t go and disappear like that, ok? You almost gave mommy a heart attack.” Seokjin said, running over to the sofa and picking up their youngest boy in his arms protectively. While Seokjin loved all his kids’ powers, Jungkook’s was admittedly the most, challenging to deal with. Yes, Jungkook has the power of invisibility, which of course is amazing, but is also the most nerve racking thing in the world when Jungkook is also a mischievous five year old boy. “I’m sorry mama, can I get ice cream now?” Jungkook said with the pout still on his small red lips, his eyes sparkling as he looked at his mom in apology. Seokjin opened his mouth to say of course not, you almost made me and your father pass out, but the boy’s killer puppy dog eyes get Seokjin every time, a loving smile coming to the blonde man’s lips as his eyes softened, ruffling the small boys black hair, and softly saying “sure you can, but promise mommy you won’t do that again, alright?” Jungkook instantly brightened at his mom’s words, his big eyes lighting up and a smile breaking his pout and showing off his tiny bunny teeth Seokjin loves so much. “Thank you mama, I promise I’ll be good!”
Seokjin kissed the top of Jungkook’s head as he went to sit back down at the table, throwing a smile at Namjoon, who’s expression translated to “great job out there, supermom”. “Well, I think that’s enough excitement for one morning, time for school. Bye mom, bye dad.” Yoongi said casually, his unimpressed expression back on his delicate features as he and the other boys got up to get on the school bus that was rapidly approaching their house. As Seokjin and Namjoon waved goodbye to their sons as they left the house, Seokjin still holding Jungkook in his lap, he couldn’t help but agree with Yoongi that this was definitely enough excitement for one morning.
