Work Text:
Maggie blinked her eyes open and her world was suddenly filled with colors she didn’t recognize and couldn’t name. Except that, yes she could, the data was right there the instant she reached for it and–
“Maggie?” That voice was familiar, but it had tones to it that she hadn’t even been able to hear before. It was comforting and new all at once. “Are you there?”
A familiar face leaned over her, but for the first time in her life it didn’t feel like it was looming over her or dwarfing her with its mere presence. “Wheeljack?”
Oh. Oh, was that her voice now? That was going to take getting used to.
“Yeah!” Wheeljack’s LEDs flickered at the recognition and he leaned just a little closer. “That voice is going to take some getting used to, but everything is green on my side. How you feeling?”
She paused and took stock, not just of what her system readings were but how she felt emotionally too. There was no pain anymore, and that place in her chest where the tumor had been destroying her was gone and she could have wept at the relief she was feeling. “I feel amazing, Jackie.”
And then, before he could ask her more questions, Maggie sat up and wrapped her arms around him. “I feel amazing. Thank you.”
Wheeljack wrapped his arms around her and hugged her back, and that felt amazing too. “Anytime, sweetspark. Anytime.”
